Here’s a bunch of quick and dirty scripts and plugins I’ve written for my own personal use, which you may or may not find useful. If you look around on this site, you may even see some of these scripts and plugins in action. I haven’t tested these scripts on anything other than my own site, so they may require some code tweaking in order to work on your own site.
These scripts are all licensed under the GPL. That is, they’re free for you to use.
WordPress Plugins
Flickr Photo Album plugin
This plugin allows you to display your Flickr photosets as albums on your WordPress site. Also adds a Flickr icon to the admin post screen so you can insert photos into posts with a couple clicks.
Amazon S3 plugin
Easily use Amazon’s S3 content delivery network for your own WordPress-powered blog. Useful if you run a podcast, or write blog posts with a lot of images. Automatically mirrors your uploads to S3 and rewrites your URLs accordingly.
Simple Spam Filter plugin
A really simple anti-spam plugin that acts as a “pre-filter” by rejecting the really obvious spam. Works alongside Akismet to block comments with multiple links, bbcode-style links, keyword matches, and duplicate detection. Includes optional reCAPTCHA support.
Google Analytics and Feedburner Reports plugin
Displays your Google Analytics and Feedburner stats directly in your WordPress admin dashboard. Great for a quick overview of your site’s traffic without leaving WordPress.
Facebook Photos plugin
With this plugin for WordPress, photos you upload to Facebook will automatically show up in a convenient “Photos” tab in your WordPress-powered blog, which allows you to easily and quickly insert photos into your blog posts.
Xanga Crosspost plugin
Simple plugin to crosspost your WordPress blog entries over to your Xanga account automatically. Supports per-category syncing, CSS customization, and per-post override. Set it and forget it.
Comments Count plugin
A plugin to display the number of comments a post has within RSS news readers and syndicated posts. Shows comment counts as inline images in your feed. Small but surprisingly handy.
WordPress Flickr DHTML Badge plugin
Displays a dynamic Flickr badge in your WordPress sidebar, showing your most recent photos as a rotating DHTML widget — no Flash required. Searches by username, tags, or both.
WordPress Flickr Post Bar plugin
The predecessor to the Flickr Photo Album plugin. Displays your most recent Flickr photos as a thumbnail bar at the bottom of the WordPress post editor. Click a photo to insert it directly into your post. Superseded by the Flickr Photo Album plugin.
TanTanNoodles Version Checker
Bundled utility plugin that automatically checks for updates to my other plugins and notifies you in your WordPress dashboard when a new version is available.
Standalone Scripts
Flickr DHTML Badge
A pure JavaScript and CSS implementation of Flickr’s flash badge widget. Rotating thumbnails, customizable size, fade transitions, random selection. Works with any online photo service — no WordPress required.
TanTanNoodles Theme
The WordPress theme used on this site. Designed and coded by Joe Tan. Two-column layout with a warm beige sidebar, custom post date display, and full RSS integration.
