I’m Jay Malik, Executive Vice President at Tangicloud, a Univerus Company. I’ve been working with nonprofits and governments for over 30 years. My passion is to deliver the best accounting software functionality possible on the most modern technology platforms available. Tangicloud’s mission is based on my personal belief that we here to serve the people who work in nonprofits and governments as they selflessly serve the greater good.
Our story then builds on a set of lifelong values and a conviction that there is a lot more to being a good business than focusing only on the bottom line, and not enough on the experience we bring to those we serve.
Our pervasive mantra when developing products is “to do what’s right, not what’s easy”.
At Tangicloud, we take great pride in working with nonprofits and governments and strive to continually improve our products and services to meet your needs. Our foundation is rooted in experience with industry-specific fund accounting functionality, pioneered by our discovery of the Navision product in 1999. This rich functionality was later emulated by most other companies. We challenge ourselves every day to provide the best solutions for our clients.

Founded in 2019, Univerus is a global software company headquartered in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. With over 360 employees and 3,500 clients worldwide, Univerus has expanded its presence across Canada, the United States, Australia, and New Zealand.
I am proud to have founded and grown Serenic, a company that used an incredible accounting software platform to establish a globally-leading solution. Our company was named after my daughters, Sara and Nicola, and after taking it public and reaching its high-water market capitalization, I decided to leave. During the initial years, we were pleased when Microsoft acquired the Navision product, rebranding it as Microsoft Dynamics NAV. This little-known product has become the cornerstone of Microsoft’s strategy for their cloud ERP solution, now branded as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. It is an honor to see how far the product has come and the impact it has had on the industry.
As we learned about Microsoft’s commitment to the cloud, we were invited to take over the customer base for a Serenic spin-off called OneNFP. We were happy to serve the needs of these customers by launching a new Tangicloud product, now based on Microsoft Dynamics 365 with a mission to bring sophisticated functionality to more organizations.
This redesign involved working on the user interface to function better in the cloud, so that users outgrowing products like Quickbooks would have an easier transition as they added more sophisticated functionality to their operations. In addition, Microsoft’s commitment to running the cloud infrastructure for our customers, greatly reduced the total cost of ownership as many IT costs were absorbed into the software price.
In 2016, Tangicloud worked to build a better, faster, easier, and more cost-effective version of our previous products, converting orphaned OneNFP customers and continuously improving our cloud offerings with the help of Microsoft engineers.
Our priority was to ensure our current customers were taken care of and to build a solid foundation to move customers forward from older, out-of-date solutions.
In 2019, Microsoft asked us to refactor our code to support their Universal Code Initiative, resulting in our Fundamentals product becoming the premier true Business Central cloud App for nonprofits and governments.
