Pattern 8 is the final kup grade pattern and is performed for both 1st kup and the 1st dan grading. There are 27 movements in Pattern 8 as shown in the Pattern Map. On completion all the masters who attended the course were instructed by the Kukkiwon President Woon Kyu Uhm to promote Unified Taekwondo to the International Taekwondo community. The revised Taekwondo textbook detailed the most sweeping changes to taekwondo technique since the original was published 18 years previously and was first presented in detail to the international community at the 12th World Taekwondo Foreign Instructors Course held at the Kukkiwon in July 2006.
