Tableau Bridge by Tableau Software is a companion utility for Tableau Cloud (formerly Tableau Online) that provides secure access to private, on‑premises data without opening inbound firewall ports. Installed on a Windows machine inside your network, Bridge maintains an encrypted outbound connection to Tableau Cloud so you can run live queries (where supported) or schedule extract refreshes for published data sources and virtual connections.
Designed for reliability and control, Bridge supports centralized management from your Tableau Cloud site. Administrators can create Bridge pools for high availability, monitor client health, set schedules, and balance workloads across multiple Bridge instances. The tool respects your existing data security, uses TLS for data in transit, and can store credentials only when you choose to configure them.
Typical use cases include connecting Tableau Cloud to internal databases such as SQL Server or Oracle, or refreshing extracts from files and other data that cannot be exposed directly to the internet. Requirements generally include a Tableau Cloud site, a supported connector, Windows 10/11 or Windows Server, and outbound HTTPS (port 443). The result is up‑to‑date analytics in Tableau Cloud while keeping sensitive data safely behind your firewall.
Tableau Bridge is developed by Tableau Software. The most popular versions of this product among our users are: 22.1, 22.3, 23.2, 24.1 and 24.2. The name of the program executable file is TabBridgeClient.exe.
