Portfolio Management
Roscoe Widdup
Roscoe has earned a Bachelor of Business (Business Information Systems) from RMIT University.
Prior to T8, Roscoe spent three years as a partner and Portfolio Manager at the Eye Investment Fund, specialising in the fundamental equity exposures within the global multi asset class portfolio. The equity portfolio within the fund was focused on global natural resources and energy technology.
Roscoe has deep industry experience in investment having spent eight years with Goldman Sachs including five years in the Asset Management Division as an investment manager responsible for mining and energy stocks within GSAM’s A$7 billion Australian equities portfolios. Roscoe also spent two years in the Securities Division as an analyst in the Mining Research team.
Prior to working at Goldman Sachs, Roscoe worked at Rio Tinto as a financial analyst and at Ernst & Young in the Risk Advisory Services division.
Portfolio Management
Tonya Payne
Tonya has earned a Bachelor of Engineering (Environmental) and a Masters of Environmental Management (Sustainable Development) from the University of Queensland and has over 15 years’ experience as a specialist in the field of environment and sustainability.
Tonya’s experience includes working as an environmental consultant focused on obtaining environmental approvals for industrial and mining clients, due diligence reviews for potential purchasers of manufacturing and mining projects, as well as assisting corporations develop and implement environmental management systems. She has also worked for WMC as an environmental advisor which involved developing and implementing the Environmental Management System for WMC Fertilisers, as well as auditing its environmental and corporate sustainability reporting processes.

Christopher Hayes
Chris has earned The Certificate in Quantitative Finance (CQF) and a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Psychology, from the University of Auckland.
Chris brings over 20 years’ experience from working in Europe, Africa and the Asia Pacific. He has specialised in portfolio management, quantitative analysis, execution and technology innovation.
His expertise spans a broad spectrum of financial markets and products, including equities, fixed income, credit derivatives, equity derivatives, ETFs, and cryptocurrency.
He has worked at large global institutions including Credit Suisse, Citigroup, Deutsche Bank, Barclays Capital, Barclays Global Investors, and Nomura, as well as crypto and fintech start-ups.

Selva Freigedo
Selva has earned a Bachelor of International Studies and Government with a major in International Economics from Colby College, United States and a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Economics from the University of London, United Kingdom.
Prior to joining T8, Selva spent eight years as an analyst at Fat Tail Investment Research (part of the Agora Companies) where she focused on the energy transition and commodities sectors as well as macroeconomics and fixed income markets. Prior to Fat Tail Investment Research, Selva worked for Numinous, a management consulting company based in Spain, and for World Education, a not-for-profit organisation based in the United States and dedicated to improving lives through education, social and economic development programs. Selva interned at The World Bank and World Wildlife Fund.
Selva has lived in several countries including Argentina, Brazil, United States and Spain. She is fluent in three languages (English, Spanish and Portuguese).

Alvin Zhou
Alvin earned a bachelor’s degree in quantitative economics from the University of California, Irvine, United States and a Master Degree of Management accounting from the University of Melbourne, Australia.
Prior to joining T8, Alvin spent two years as an Investment Associate at Leaguer Venture Capital where he focused on renewable energy investment in private market. Prior to Leaguer Venture Capital, Alvin worked for Frost & Sullivan, a global management consulting company where he specialized in industry research and due diligence in renewable energy sector.
Alvin has lived in several countries including China, United States and Australia. He is fluent in English and Mandarin.

Andrew Michelmore AO
Andrew is a chemical engineer with more than 30 years’ experience in the natural resources industry including 12 years at WMC Resources, where he was CEO, and prior to that, he held senior roles in the company’s nickel, gold, alumina, copper, uranium and fertiliser businesses.
Andrew also spent two years working in London and Russia as CEO of En+ Group prior to being appointed CEO of MMG from 2009 until his retirement in 2017.
Andrew is currently Chairman of Century Aluminum Company (a company listed on the NASDAQ and the Iceland Stock Exchange).

Leigh Clifford AC
Leigh is a mining engineer with over 30 years’ experience in industry having spent 37 years at Rio Tinto, including the last seven years as Chief Executive.
Leigh was Chairman of Qantas Airways Ltd from 2007 until 2018 and is currently Non-Executive Director of Bechtel Inc. in the United States, a senior adviser to Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. and has previously held directorships on the boards of organisations, including but not limited to Barclays Bank and Freeport-McMoRan.

Liza Maimone
Liza is a chemical engineer and earned a Graduate Diploma (Energy & Resources) Law. She is a Chartered Professional Engineer and Fellow of Engineers Australia.
Liza has 30 years’ experience as a strategic advisor in sustainability and climate strategy, transformation, risk, governance, and reporting for Australian and global companies in mining, energy, industrials, and financial services.
Liza is the CEO of Fyfe Pty Ltd, an Australian integrated engineering, environment, planning and surveying business. Liza was Chief Operating Officer and Sustainability Executive of PwC Australia from 2020 to 2024 and Chair of PwC’s ASEANZ (regional) consulting business.
Liza is a Member of the Australian Accounting Standards Board, Non-Executive Director of Engineers Australia and Chair of its People and Governance Committee, and Chair of the Standards and Integrity Committee of Accounting for Nature.

Mark Harland
Mark has over 20 years of global automotive experience at General Motors with emphasis in sales, brand building and customer experience across a range of geographies (North America, Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa).
Recent experience has been at AGL leading a project to launch an electric vehicle subscription offer.
Energy Technology
Mark Preston
Mark is Team Principal of the Techeetah Formula E Racing Team, and the founder and CEO of StreetDrone which is developing fully autonomous vehicle technology.
Mark has considerable experience in high performance engineering and technology, particularly in Formula One, having worked for McLaren, Arrows and Super Aguri.
Sustainability technology
Erin Grover
Erin Grover is a specialist in sustainability-focused agri-tech venture capital. She specialises in technologies related to the verification of climate impact, food security, regenerative agriculture and supply chain transparency. This includes the application of blockchain, AI, and IoT technologies.
She is a strong advocate for using these technologies to improve the lives of smallholder farmers in the Global South. Her drive comes from her time living with a farming community in the mountains of Nepal in her early 20s. This is where she learned to speak Nepali and learned how to live from the heart.
She has extensively researched emerging Decentralised Finance (DeFi) markets in Kenya, Uganda, and India. She is a part of the World Economic Forum’s Crypto Sustainability Coalition as a member of the blockchain and carbon working group and has been a featured speaker at the annual meetings of the World Bank, Barclays, and COP28.
Prior to her work in venture capital, she served the United Nations, USAID, and other international NGOs in Afghanistan, Timor-Leste, Nepal, and Cambodia for over a decade.
She has contributed as a journalist to Cointelegraph, IndieWire, and is currently a featured writer for AGBI (Arabian Gulf Business Insight). Her work has been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Time Magazine, Gizmodo, TechCrunch, Mashable, The Times of India, and many other international news sources.

Alex Zadnik
Alex is a mechanical engineer and MBA with almost 40 years’ experience in the natural resources industry having spent 36 years employed by Rio Tinto, across and extensive variety of management roles involving the Company’s interests in iron ore, copper, gold, nickel, coal, bauxite.
Alex was Commercial General Manager of Rio Tinto Exploration from 1991-2006 accountable for selling non-core exploration assets and also for identifying major undeveloped resources with acquisition potential. This role involved working in detail within the disciplines of geology, mineralogy and engineering, and covering technical, financial and legal matters.

Stuart Brown
Stuart is a geologist with over 30 years’ experience in Australia and internationally at technical, managerial, executive and board levels across most areas of the upstream energy industry.
Stuart was Head of Strategy at Woodside, reporting to the CEO and the Board from 2007 until 2012. His other roles have included senior strategic and exploration positions at Woodside and over 20 years with Royal Dutch Shell covering the UK, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Australia.
