icon tutorial
It's been ages since I've last written a tutorial. Please tell me if something is unclear. The tutorial is for PS, but should be translatable to other programs.
| I cropped this image (one of my own caps). In this case, because the image was very dark and this also was the look I'm going for, I cropped it so that there would be a black row at the top and bottom (black has to be selected as background color). |
|
| Duplicate the base two times and set both duplicated layers to screen. Use Sharpen twice on the base layer. |
|
| Add a new layer on top. Fill with #010729 (dark blue) and set to Exclusion 100%. | |
| Add a new layer on top. Fill with #B4B4B4 (grey) and set to Color Burn 55%. | |
| Add a new layer on top. Fill with #E6E6E6 (light grey) and set to Color Burn 50%. | |
| Add a new layer on top. Fill with a light greenish gradient and set to Soft Light 70%. | |
| Add a new layer on top. Fill with a blueish gradient and set to Soft Light 80%. | |
| Add this texture from Rotate it counterclockwise, and drag it down so the top black bar in the icon isn't covered. |
|
| Add this light texture from Rotate the light texture and blur it heavily (Graussian Blur Radius 10px). |
|
| Duplicate the light texture layer and set it to Overlay 100px. | |
| Add this light texture from Drag it down a bit until the lightening is mostly on Frodo. |
|
| Make a new layer and with a PS standard brush in black (I used the one at 13px) draw over the edges of the black borders at top and bottom to make them fade into the picture. Add text and it's done. |
