Horological Tours

Horological Tour Guides (Subject to Change)

Lewis Walduck - An antiquarian horologists will spend the day with us in Oxford at the Ashmolean Museum showing us horological treasures not usually on display.

Matthew Winterbottom - The Assistant Keeper, Curator of Decorative Arts and Sculpture at the Ashmolean Museum will show us a unique collection of early watches.

Anna Rolls – Curator of the Clockmaker’s Museum at the Science Museum. Anna and James Nye will accompany our group and share their expertise during the morning at the Clockmaker’s Museum.  Anna will provide us with a horological guide in the afternoon for the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Jonathan Betts – A British horological scholar, author and expert will be our Belmont House tour guide for George St. Vincent’s, the 5th Baron Harris collection. One of the finest private collections of clocks and watches in Britain.  Alistair Lewis and Duncan Grieg will assist Jonathan with the tour of Belmont House.

Emily Akkermans  – The Curator of Time at Royal Museums Greenwich. Emily will give us a behind-the-scenes tour at The Prince Philip Maritime Collections Center in Kidbrooke, the Royal Observatory Off-Site Storage and Conservation Studio.  Emily will also provide the tour of the Royal Observatory at Greenwich on Friday, May 8th.

Oliver Cooke and Laura Turner– Curators of Horology at The British Museum will enlighten us in the British Museum Horology Study Room. Watch a video of Oliver here: Curious Clocks and Watches through time with Oliver Cooke

Keith Scobie-Youngs – Leads a large team of skilled workers at Cumbria Clock Company, who look after some of the world’s most famous clocks, including Big Ben.  Keith and his wife Lynn will give those going on the 2-day trip to Cumbria a tour of their Cumbria Clock Company.  Additionally, members of their team will give us a presentation at the Bowes Museum of the Silver Swan and other horological objects.

James Nye – Founder of The Clockworks Museum will be our host for a visit to this museum, showcasing a remarkable collection of electric clocks and devices dating from the mid-19th century to the 1970s.  James is also joining Anna Rolls to show us the Clockmaker's Museum at the Science Museum.
