Advancing Health Information Technology for Quality (AHTIQ)

Following a 2025 site audit, Southern West Virginia Health System was recognized through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Advancing Health Information Technology for Quality (AHITQ) initiative.Advancing Health Information Technology for Quality (AHTIQ) Badge

This recognition is awarded to health centers that demonstrate the use of health information technology to support patient care, data reporting, and care coordination.

To receive this recognition, health centers must demonstrate performance in several areas, including:

  • Implementation of an electronic health record (EHR) system
  • Availability of telehealth services
  • Secure electronic exchange of clinical information with other providers
  • Use of technology to support patient engagement
  • Collection of data related to social risk factors that affect health

This recognition indicates that Southern West Virginia Health System has met HRSA criteria related to the use of health information technology in care delivery.

Certification of Compliance – 2025 Operational Site Visit

Southern West Virginia Health System completed a 2025 Operational Site Visit conducted by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).

The Operational Site Visit is conducted on a three-year cycle and assesses health centers for compliance with federal requirements across key areas, including clinical services, patient safety, governance, financial management, and operations.

Completion of the site visit indicates that Southern West Virginia Health System met applicable HRSA program requirements at the time of review.

Federally Supported Health Centers Assistance Act (FSHCAA) Deemed Health Center

Southern West Virginia Health System receives Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Health Center Program grant funding under 42 U.S.C. §FSHCAA Deemed Health Center Seal 254b and has been deemed a Public Health Service employee for purposes of certain liability protections, including Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) coverage under 42 U.S.C. § 233(g)–(n).

Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC)

Southern West Virginia Health System is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) under the Health Center Program authorized by Section 330 of the PublicFederally Qualified Health Center designation icon Health Service Act. As an FQHC, the organization is required to comply with federal program requirements related to governance, service delivery, quality reporting, and sliding fee discount policies. Services are provided to all patients regardless of ability to pay.
