Biography: Yuan is one of the Four Seraphim of Cruxis. He was one of Mithos' companions during the Kharlan War and was formerly a knight from Asgard (Kratos was also a knight; it is suggested they fought on opposite sides).
Martel was Yuan's fiance, but an accident left her dead. Mithos was devastated by the loss of his sister and sought to find a way to resurrect her. His plans eventually warped Martel's final wish into something that it was not. Yuan persisted. He knew that Martel only wished for discrimination to end, not to seek revenge on humans, and so he formed a group called the Renegades to pose as Desians and keep tabs on Mithos. All the while he was trying to fix everything in his own way. Unlike Kratos who continued to follow Mithos' instructions for some part, Yuan didn't.
Yuan will pretty much do whatever it takes to get the desired end result - he will form alliances as long as they are useful, and then he'll set out on his own again.
After the worlds of Sylvarant and Tethe'alla were reunited, Yuan took it upon himself to become the guardian of the new World Tree - perhaps out of his love for Martel who is one of several entities that coexist within the tree. He is also the last person Kratos ever contacted (he had taken Derris-Kharlan far out into space). At the end, the once-companions could still call each other friends.
Personality: Yuan is fairly formal and is a good strategist. He seems overconfident and arrogant in his bearing, but takes teasing poorly and can easily become embarrassed as is shown in Tales of Fandom. He was obviously smitten with Martel at that time. Despite his methods, Yuan does value people - his subordinate Botta, for example, and also Kratos whom he shares some of his mana with to prevent him from dying when he releases Origin's seal.
Misc: His weapon is called "Swallow" and his artes revolve around thunder, lightning, and attacks from the air. He's also capable of wielding a sword.
