SurfSeis Demo is the evaluation edition of SurfSeis, the Kansas Geological Survey’s software for multichannel analysis of surface waves (MASW). It guides users through the standard MASW workflow to characterize the near surface: importing seismic records, defining survey geometry, generating dispersion images, picking dispersion curves, and inverting them to produce shear-wave velocity (Vs) profiles and 2D sections. The demo is well suited for geotechnical engineers, geophysicists, and researchers who want to explore MASW methods and assess SurfSeis’s capabilities using sample datasets.
Highlights:
Typical applications include estimating Vs30, mapping near-surface stiffness contrasts, and delineating layer thickness. The Demo edition is intended for evaluation and training; compared with the licensed version, some features, data sizes, or save/export options may be limited. SurfSeis Demo runs on Windows and is supported by Kansas Geological Survey documentation, tutorials, and example projects.
SurfSeis Demo is developed by Kansas Geological Survey. The most popular version of this product among our users is 2.0. The name of the program executable file is SS20Demo.exe.
