Most small-appliance brands in India still design like it’s 2010.
Hero shots that look like product manuals. Listings stuffed with spec sheets. Meta ads that read like Diwali sale flyers. The category is dominated by legacy giants with massive distribution but tired visual languages and that’s exactly the gap a younger, design-led brand can exploit.
NUUK saw the opportunity. They came to us with a clear ambition: build a digital communication system that makes a small-appliance brand look as considered as a beauty or D2C brand on the same Instagram feed.
At Studio OkCaramel, we partnered with NUUK to design their full digital ecosystem, Meta ads, Amazon store and creatives, quick commerce assets, emailers, marketing collaterals, and website visual support. Every surface is designed to do one thing: make NUUK feel like an appliance brand built for the way people actually shop today.
A toothpaste brand has to convince you in 30 seconds. An appliance brand has to convince you to spend ten times more, in roughly the same window.
That’s the design problem. The customer’s hesitation is higher. The visual proof has to be sharper. The trust has to be earned faster. And the product itself, a juicer, a kettle, a chopper, and an air fryer, has to look distinctive in a category where every other thumbnail looks identical.
As an e-commerce design agency that’s worked across beauty, food, personal care, and supplements, we knew the rules from those categories wouldn’t carry over directly. Appliance shoppers think differently. They compare more aggressively. They read more carefully. The design has to respect that, not paper over it.
So we built NUUK’s visual system around three principles: clarity over cleverness, hierarchy over decoration, and product-first storytelling over lifestyle abstraction. Every creative had to answer the customer’s actual question before it tried to do anything else.
We designed NUUK’s Meta ads with a performance-first approach, building every creative to earn attention in the first few seconds of the feed.
That sounds simple. It almost never is.
A Meta ad for an appliance has three jobs to do in three seconds: stop the scroll, communicate the product clearly, and give the viewer a reason that isn’t a discount. Most appliance brands manage one of those. Some manage two. Very few do all three.
We designed for all three. Bold, functional messaging in the first frame. High-contrast product visuals that read in a thumbnail. A hook system that lets the performance team test angles without burning through creative variety. Multiple ad directions were developed across static, motion, story, and carousel formats, so the campaign had room to optimize without ever appearing inconsistent.
Each ad inherited NUUK’s broader visual language, which means the brand recall compounds across the funnel. The customer who saw the Meta ad and then landed on the Amazon listing or the website didn’t have to reorient. They were already in the brand.
That’s the difference between an ad that looks premium and an ad that performs premium. We’ve shipped over 10,000 Meta ad creatives across D2C, we know which design choices move CTR and which ones just look nice in a portfolio. NUUK got the first kind.
