K GUYZ, I NEED HELP.

I told myself that I was going to wait this summer to grow my hair out really long, but I'm getting total haircut-lust and it's driving me insane. I've always had long-ish hair. Right now, it's down to my shoulders in a ponytail, past my shoulders down. I've been wanting to get it cut really, really short lately just... because, I guess haha.
Basically, this is me now (disregard me being awkward and ugly). I have side-bangs that I normally pin up and the hair to the side of my face was too short to go into a ponytail. Obviously, my hair is in a ponytail.

I kind of want to go to something like this:

I really don't know what to do. I've been dying to try this cut for the longest time now, but IDK if I should.
