What strategies do you use to cope with negative feelings?
Feelings are the one no one could escape, and neither one can ever. A living soul has mind to think and then brain has centres for all types of feelings, which sometimes enhance a feeling and sometimes mimic or diffuse its effects on us. Well that’s a little bit science of feelings.
Now when one can’t escape them, then we have to feel them or ignore them. Mostly, when it comes to negative feelings, it depends on personality of a person how he will let this process to go through. Some try to divert their thoughts on some other feelings which are happening right then along with those negative ones , which might not be that much painful. Some try to make them look like even more painful than they actually are.
Now whatever the case may be, they will sooner or later requires a vent to flow. More we suppress them more the urge they will create deep inside to come out, and when they will be uncontrollable they may have much worse consequences for the person holding them inside.
I think it’s better to feel every feeling in the form it is formed and let it flow through us. Let it do its job of releasing the neurotransmitters and hormones inside our body which our body needs to feel the effect of those feelings without leaving much impact on other parts or organs which are otherwise not involved in that kind of feeling. And if we hinder then it puts unnecessary loads on the organs which are not involved in those type of feelings leading to more distress and long lasting physical ailments.
So in philosophical way, I will say let it flow unhindered and feel it’s effects, Its happening to add to our experiences and enriching our lives
