BEHIND EVERY VICTORY
THERE IS A STRATEGY

Recent News

We’re grateful for the opportunity to have worked with some spectacular clients, organizations, consultants, and teams to help deliver important wins up and down the ballot — even in Trump-won states — and often overcoming millions in outside spending.

Among others, we congratulate Elissa Slotkin and Tammy Baldwin, who won hard-fought Senate races in states Trump won; Josh Stein, who won the top Governor’s race in the country; winners in a dozen House races, including five new members; and the victors of multiple legislative and local races.

U.S. Senate & House

We were honored to help five U.S. Senate campaigns and over a dozen Congressional races across the country find success, often in the face of determined opposition.

Senator Tammy Baldwin earned a third term despite the challenging anti-incumbent environment and deep-pocketed spending against her.

Senator Andy Kim took on the establishment and politics-as-usual to become our country’s first Korean-American Senator.

Senator Angus King earned 52% in a four-way contest by staying true to his Independent roots.

Senator Amy Klobuchar won her fourth term in office by 16 points, showing strength in every corner of the state.

Senator Elissa Slotkin prevailed by overcoming more than $50 million in hostile outside spending.

Over a dozen House candidates won, including in multiple races rated as toss-ups. Between candidate committees and aligned organizations like House Majority PAC and the DCCC IE, it was our privilege to help elect new U.S. Representatives Sarah Elfreth, Maggie Goodlander, Kelly Morrison, Suhas Subramanyam, and George Whitesides (IE); and to re-elect principled leaders like Reps. Nikki Budzinski, Salud Carbajal, Bill Foster, Lois Frankel, Jahana Hayes, Mike Quigley, Deborah Ross, and Brad Schneider.

Governor & Statewide

We are proud to have helped North Carolina Governor-Elect Josh Stein notch a 15-point win in a Trump-won state.

In addition, longtime client Rachel Hunt will become the first new Democrat to hold the North Carolina Lt. Governor’s office in 16 years, and Secretary of State Elaine Marshall continued her stretch of electoral successes. We were also honored to work with a broad coalition of organizations utilizing modeling to peel off conservative-leaning voters and help Supreme Court Justice Allison Riggs (IE) win a razor-thin margin.

State Legislatures

Legislative work remains the backbone of our firm’s practice, and we are particularly proud of these successes from coast to coast:

The Wisconsin State Senate Democratic Caucus won 5 of 5 targeted races, taking the State Senate from 22R-10D to 18R-15D and setting themselves up for an effort to retake the chamber in 2026.

The North Carolina House Democratic Caucus broke the Republican supermajority, while the North Carolina Senate Democratic Caucus successfully defended their Democratic margin.

The Minnesota State Senate (IE) protected their one-seat Democratic majority by defending their only open swing seat, while the South Carolina State Senate Caucus held an open swing seat in the Republican-trending Midlands.

The Nevada State Senate (IE) and the Illinois State Senate defended their Democratic majorities, while California set a new record with women now comprising nearly half of the legislature, including key victories from State Senator Sasha Renée Pérez and Assemblywomen Celeste Rodriguez and Sade Elhawary (IE).

Municipal, County, & Local Races

We’re proud to work with mayors, city council members, county supervisors, and school board members working to solve challenges impacting Americans’ everyday lives.

We helped bring new and accountable leadership to San Francisco with the election of Daniel Lurie as its Mayor and helped deliver a Latino majority to the Riverside County Board of Supervisors with the victory of Jose Medina, who overcame being outspent by a 4-to-1 margin.

Cook County State’s Attorney Eileen O’Neill Burke won a close primary by roughly 1,500 votes to take over the second-largest prosecutor’s office in the country.

Dane County (WI) Executive Melissa Agard navigated a contested primary and general election to become the first new Dane County Executive in 13 years.

We helped protect and increase progressive and diverse representation with the elections of Long Beach City Councilmember-Elect Tunua Thrash-Ntuk, Los Angeles City Councilmember Nithya Raman (IE), Los Angeles City Councilmember-Elect Ysabel Jurado (IE), Lynwood City Councilmember-Elect Lorraine Avila Moore, Monterey Park City Councilmembers Henry Lo and Elizabeth Yang, Inglewood City Councilmember Dionne Faulk, Long Beach Community College Board Trustee-Elect Ennette Morton, Culver City School Board Member-Elect Lindsay Carlson, and Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School Board Member Ami Gandhi.

Ballot Initiatives

Among other efforts, we celebrated a come-from-behind victory on Question 3 in Nevada, despite being outspent by out-of-state donors trying to change Nevada’s electoral system.

In collaboration with Mayor Andrew Ginther, COTA, the City of Columbus, the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission, and the Franklin County Board of Commissioners, we worked to help pass Issue 47 to modernize and expand public transportation.

We also led several successful revenue, bond, and civil service reform measure campaigns in California in collaboration with the Los Angeles County Firefighters Association on Measure E, Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson’s Opportunity Beach Fund on Measures LB, JB, and HC, Long Beach Community College District on Measure AC, and Monterey Park Mayor Thomas Wong on Measures BE and LG.

With one-party control in Washington, DC, the next two years will see important battles at every level of the ballot. Founded by progressive campaign professionals in 1989, The Strategy Group looks forward to continuing to play its part in the fights ahead.
