Our Vision

A world where teachers love teaching and children love learning.

Watch how a motivated teacher inspires meaningful learning

What We Do

We focus on improving learning outcomes for all children by inspiring teacher motivation. Our model uses peer networks to motivate and support teachers in government education systems at large scale. Explore our work across the world:

Our Impact

Our recent evaluations have given us confidence that our approach is working:

  • In Uganda, students in STiR-supported schools scored, on average, 15.6% higher in literacy and 14.2% higher in numeracy than students in schools not supported by STiR. These improvements are statistically reliable. (Deloitte, 2025)
  • In Indonesia, students in STiR-supported schools scored on average 16.4% higher in literacy, showing a statistically reliable improvement. Gains in numeracy were smaller at 4.4% and less certain. (Deloitte, 2025)
  • More than 85% of teachers reported improvements in student reading (88%) and numeracy (86%) levels in India.
  • 94% of teachers reported that their classrooms were safer, and that their students feel happier in class in India.
  • 99% of teachers in Uganda reported the support given by school leaders was useful for planning and practice.

How you can help

Our highly cost-effective approach increases the effectiveness and impact of government investments in education. But we rely on charitable contributions to support our work. With your help, we can reach many more teachers and students across the world.

Our Partners

Strong partnerships with governments, some of the world’s leading funders and pre-eminent research and policy partners.

Short story
"The science shows that the secret to high performance isn’t our biological drive or our reward-and-punishment drive, but our third drive – our deep-seated desire to direct our own lives, to extend and expand our abilities, and to live a life of purpose."
