Who We Are
Built on Legacy. Driven by Precision.
Powered by People.
Delivering precision, performance, and partnership with every cut
At Stenner Ltd, our mission is to consistently deliver high-performance bandsaw and resaw machinery that exceeds expectations — not only in performance, but in reliability, service, and total customer experience. Whether we're supporting a small family-run mill or a large-scale timber operation, our goal remains the same: provide machinery and service that get the job done right, the first time and every time.
We build every solution around what our customers need — machines that are accurate, efficient, and built to last. We combine that with dedicated support from consultation to commissioning, plus long-term service, spare parts, and expert advice to keep operations running smoothly.
Our strength lies not only in what we manufacture, but in how we work: with integrity, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of the industry’s evolving demands. Through continuous improvement and innovation, we empower our team and our clients to achieve more — with fewer headaches, lower costs, and higher yield.
At Stenner, it’s not just about the machine. It’s about the people behind it — and the trust we earn with every delivery, every visit, every cut.

Leading the future of timber processing through design, innovation, and global trust
Our vision is to be the most respected name in band sawing technology — known not only for the strength and precision of our machines, but for the strength of our relationships. We aim to shape the future of the timber industry by designing intelligent, sustainable, and operator-friendly machinery that adapts to real-world challenges.
We envision a world where every sawmill — from compact joinery shops to fully integrated facilities — can access reliable, high-yield resaw solutions without compromise. Whether it's through our standalone machines, modular upgrades, or full turnkey systems, we strive to equip timber professionals with tools that improve efficiency, reduce waste, and increase output.
Our commitment to continuous development means we’re always evolving — designing smarter machines, improving service delivery, and expanding our global dealership network to ensure responsive support no matter where our customers are located. By investing in our people, our technology, and our partners, we are building not just better machinery — but a stronger, more connected future for the global wood processing industry.
Precision by design. Trust by tradition. Innovation by purpose. That’s the Stenner vision.

Precision that empowers. Legacy that endures.
At Stenner Ltd, our purpose is to craft more than machines — we create confidence, consistency, and connection in the world of timber processing. For over 150 years, we’ve been the trusted backbone of sawmills, dry mills, and joinery workshops across the globe, delivering high-performance resaw machinery that’s built to last and easy to trust.
We exist to serve the people behind the timber — the operators, the engineers, the business owners — who rely on every cut to be clean, every machine to be tough, and every supplier to stand behind their word.
Our role goes beyond manufacturing. We design solutions that solve problems before they happen. We keep production lines running with genuine parts and responsive service. And we work side-by-side with a global network of dealers to make sure help is never far away. We believe in quality over compromise, relationships over transactions, and long-term thinking over quick wins.
At the core of everything we do is one mission: To move the timber industry forward — one reliable, precision-built resaw at a time.

Our History
A legacy built on innovation, resilience,
and a passion for precision.

19th century
Stenner Ltd’s journey began in the late 19th century — not with saws, but with agricultural tools built for local farmers in Devon. The first step into woodworking came in 1875, when the company crafted its first circular saw bench, marking the beginning of a remarkable evolution.

20th century
Originally owned by the Stenner family, the company became Stenner and Gunn Ltd after partnering with a fellow local engineer. When Mr. Gunn departed to start his own venture, the business forged ahead, focusing on circular saw machinery. But the real breakthrough came in the early 20th century with the introduction of the bandsaw — a game-changer that dramatically improved timber yield with its thinner kerf and efficiency.

Post-WWII
Through two World Wars, the company adapted and thrived. Post-WWII, Stenner embraced emerging technologies — from hydraulics and pneumatics to electrical control systems — which helped position the brand as a global leader in sawmilling machinery.

2009
From family business to part of Heathcoat Engineering, then later a management buyout, Stenner has weathered decades of industry change. Even the 2009 recession couldn’t halt its momentum.

2018
In 2018, Stenner opened a new chapter with a move to a modern, purpose-built facility at Hartnoll Business Centre — proof that even after nearly 150 years, we’re still moving forward.

Stenner Through the Covid Pandemic 2020 – 2022
Stenner Ltd adapted its manufacturing to meet health & safety standards while maintaining strong customer support and spare parts supply. Despite Ligna’s cancellation, our Sales team kept momentum through video conferencing—connecting with clients and promoting our brand online.

Stenner Ltd – 150 Years of British Manufacturing 2025
In 2025, Stenner Ltd celebrates 150 years of manufacturing excellence. Founded in 1875 in Tiverton, the company has evolved from a local maker of agricultural tools to a global leader in wide bandsaw technology. This milestone reflects its legacy of innovation, durability, and craftsmanship, with machines still running decades later. Today, Stenner continues to invest in advanced, sustainable technologies, supported by dedicated staff and loyal global partners.
