Redcoats and Rebels

Hiya. Been busy and been wanting to update things.......just nothing overly exciting happening (or anything I consider out of the ordinary though others may feel differently lol). However I went to my first re-enacting weekend this past weekend..........totally awesome and words dont do the experience justice. However here's at least a snippet of things that happened (actually it's a cut copy and paste of the message I sent my other unit Captain...but I am still sore and dont think I can go through typing it all fresh here lol).

"Satan" and I had a great time and the whole experience just blew me away. It seemed there was something to do every minute of the day, even if it was just walking around and seeing the sights. Drilling was interesting to say the least, lol, but I think it's all worth it as Im becoming more and more comfortable with the motions and such (even if the French part was confusing the bejeebus out of me). Both battles were intense, perhaps even a bit more than I should have attempted but would do it all over again anywyays. The sounds of the cannons and guns rolling was a real mental wake up call thats for sure. It was strange stepping over "dead" soldiers and listening to the sounds of battle after "dying" myself (well what can I say...there was an order to go over the fence and I know I wasnt going to be able to do it quickly...might as well die and not hold the others back lol).

The comraderie of Saturday night was great too. James and I went down to the tavern (where he decided to mouth off to a Brit...very funny stuff) and we hung out with the sailors as well (where once again Satan decided to mouth off to the same Brit lol). I didnt know any of the songs they were singing but just listening to them and trying to chime in with the chorus (I tend to be a bit more free spirited when I have had a couple drinks lol) was cool. I liked the being treated as one of the men aspect of everything as well.....just a bunch of soldiers relieving stress....wicked cool.

We did have a few mishaps...screw up in direction, flat tire, and James' tent poles and tables falling off the roof with him holding on while on 495 (still not sure how he didnt break his arm)....did occur but looking back on everything such things seem minimal and even part of the whole adventure. Got a bit strung out when I ran out of cigarettes too....I just couldnt get the hang of using the pipe but will have to work on it...but even that didnt bum me out too bad. All in all it was an experience to remember and cant wait to get to do it all again.

What I didnt bother to mention to Denis (only because he is a friend of mine and James' on Facebook so he would have already seen it) was the punishment dished out to a soldier. He is a drummer who had left his drum out on the ground in the kitchen area along with his sword. Here is the video that James took of it.

Wow look at that I have a LJ

Yeppers I have been bad and not posting in forever and a day. Let's see if I can sum things up and try to get back on track.

Work......
Well the store has been in remodel mode now for about a month. It is a total mess though the changes are starting to show results. Customers are still pissy about things moving, no matter what you do to make things easier on them, and I have been told off in more creative ways than when I was a telemarketer. I interviewed for a new position but didnt get it...no biggy i guess as it was only as claims assoc/receiving assoc for grocery. When I was given a reason why I didnt get it all I got was a bunch of BS that boiled down to the fact that I dont put walmart first. Oh well. No real surprise there and you couldnt pay me enough to kiss arse.

Angel.....
She has started going to Brownies due to teachers' recommendations. In fact she gets her first badges in two weeks from today. The teachers have concerns academically as well as socially and have suggested a few differet things---- one of them being to get her more involved with kids her own age as she does well with adults. Also they have done various tests and should get the results at the end of the month. On her IQ test she scored really high on some things and really low on others....many people have said that doesnt surprise them. I have been trying to get myself to play more with her instead of focusing on chores and such as time seems to be slipping away so quickly and not sure how much longer she is going to want to play with me. I bought some sidewalk chalk yesterday and we had a blast using it in the driveway.

Thal....
We are doing well...getting more time to see each other. Going to be doing a parade with him this weekend. Im trying to get more into rev. war reenacting with him as well....it's a lot of fun.

Me...
Had a minor cold a few weeks ago and had my blood pressure checked...it was quite high. Went back to have it checked last week and it's still quite high. No surprise as it runs in my family but they are having me try changing some habits to see if it helps. Will have to go back to the doc in a month for a recheck.

Cant think of anything else.

wow another post in two days

Hiya all.
First off the obit. was in the paper today for my uncle. Really good pic of him and it's a very nice right up....only problem is they say my cousin is married to "carol" oliveri....should be carl....but since I dont like Carl anyways its no big deal lol. No disrespect meant....but I cant deal well with a wife beater and such....but since that is no reflection on Uncle Steve really than I dont mind feeling that way = P

Just got back from the HCR 6 (check here if you are curious about HCR 6 ... http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/legislation/2009/HCR0006.html) rally in Concord....poor mom forgot that I was going and got all nervous...thankfully dad knew I was going and told her where I was when she called looking for me. It was quite interesting and I had never been inside the state house or to any kind of rally. It was almost bedlam at the end when it was turned down and thankfully Thal and I got out of there without getting ourselves arrested. When I told mom what happened she just sighed and said "Was Thal with you?" when I said yes (after all I have learned it's really best just to tell the flipping truth....plus we did get our picture taken a few times so might as well confess lol) she sighed and said that I always get in trouble when I am with my friends. I assured her that he and I were two of the better behaved and didnt get into any trouble....unlike some folks who were ushered out. The head guard there knew Thal anyways and seemed quite pleasant really so no biggy anyways.

Other than that not much happening.....going to grab something to eat and maye take a nap before I pick up the kiddo....mom is heading out with Jeremy tonight to get his outfit for tomorrow and Friday as well as going out to eat (mom took me out yesterday when we got our clothes....gotta be fair to the two of us lol). Anyways time for some chicken salad...not as good as my mom's but it will do.

another month another update

Hiya.
First off my uncle who was in the hospital passed away yesterday at about five minutes to four. He had a long fight and it was a roller coaster ride of ups and downs. It was weird that one minute he was fine and was going to be coming home (Well to rehab anyways) and the next day he had two heart attacks and was going down hill. Then he improved but my aunt was told he would be in the hospital for another month at least. Then he got pheumonia and had other complications....at one point he was a candidate for a heart transplant and the next he was too weak and the next they were going to try something called a tantum heart to make him strong enough to take a heart transplant.....things changed every day. On Sunday it was found that his bowels were blocked and that blood wasnt flowing correctly....at that point he had been pretty much unconscious for a few days due to the morphine they were giving him. It was decided then there was nothing they could do.....the infection he had from the pneumonia had gone away but returned and there was nothing more they could do. They stopped the meds yesterday morning and removed the balloon that was in his heart (that they had put in, removed, and put in again before this) about three thirty yesterday afternoon and he died in his sleep shortly after. My family is pulling togethor and my friends have been a great source of strength for me. Calling hours are Thursday five to eight....gotta call paul and see if he will watch angel as i think she is just too young at this time....and the funeral is Friday at 11 (she will be in school by then). I just got back from buying clothes for both....what a depressing bit of shopping that is...and even bought a dress to wear one of those days. As silly as that is me wearing a dress is actually a sign of strong emotions for me as I dont normally wear one for anyone....last time I wore even a skirt was the day my divorce was final and before that was my wedding day.

There has been other crap happening...paul thinking he was going to have to move and freaking out angel and then not having to........but that's a long story that I dont feel like getting in to...which is why I didnt bother posting about it in the first place.

Other than that it's same old same old. Got a parade to do this weekend with Thal...looking forward to it...planning on spending the night at his house where we can have a few drinks in my Uncle's memory (gotta find out what kind of wine he drank). Im off of work until at least Saturday for Bereavement...or so Im planning anyways...Darryl may email me and tell me that walmart refused that many days for an uncle....if so it's just too bad as the most Im willing to do is a half day thursday (like i did today) and off friday. We shall see though as I will email him later.

Visited Michelle last Wednesday. Had a fun day but wish I did it more often.....just not enough time in a day between work, taking care of angel, and everything else. Im suppose to go to a rally tomorrow...may still go, dont know...will see how Im feeling.

Relaxing

Wow been awhile since I posted

Okay let's see here....

First off my uncle is in the hospital. He is going to have surgery on Monday to have a valve in his heart replaced. If that doesnt work they are going to put him on machines to keep him alive until they can get a heart for a transplant. Im a bit stressed but I know these things happen every day so hopefully he will be alright.

On a happier note...my mom's fish tank is doing well. She has two gobies and two turbo snails that are fun to watch. The orange spotted goby (named Digger) moves sand around with his mouth which is hilarious to watch. The fire goby uses her tail to move sand and they both live uner one of the rocks in the tank. Gonna go tomorrow to get more fish maybe.

Gonna be going on vacation in June to Mount Rushmore with mom, dad, and Angel....should be fun. Im getting a good tax return so that will helpful towards it.

Other than that I cant think of anything else that has happened that I should mention. Will hopefully add more as I think of it.

Saw the lawyer today

Hi. Well finally got to see the lawyer in regards to Paul paying half of the medical bills for Angel's surgery. He was quite surprised that he was refusing to pay based on his "lawyer's" advice since it's clearly in black and white. He also said I was being silly only asking him to pay an extra ten dollars a week. Once I get 1K to put him on retainer he is going to write a letter to Paul stating that he is in contempt of the divorce decree, that he needs to pay $1250 (thats half of the total) and if he doesnt we will see him in court....well he will put it nicer than that but that is it in a nutshell. He will also include a copy of the bills as I presented them to him. Now I now it is silly to pay 1K and maybe more to get only a little more than that back but I think it's more the principle of the thing. It's not right for Paul to get away with not paying anything.

Not much else happening...mostly working.

And to end on a funny note there is this....

funny pictures of cats with captions
more animals

Been watching NORAD track Santa all day

Hiya and merry christmas.
Well Angel is finally in bed since Santa is so close to New Hampshire. The christmas eve party went off nicely and Im extremely full. I just filled Angel's stocking, left a note from Santa along with some crumbs and an empty cup (okay so the cup had been holding rum and coke but hopefully she wont smell it...besides even Santa needs a pick me up), and now heading to bed.
Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow.
