MONITORING

A fix has been put in place that should now allow all affected devices to be assigned IP addresses successfully. Some devices may need to be unplugged/replugged or rebooted to re-establish connectivity. OIT Network Engineering will continue to monitor for any recurrence of issues. If you are still having issues connecting to the wired network in a residence hall, please contact the Administrative Services Center at 404-385-1111 or online at services.gatech.edu.

IDENTIFIED

OIT Network Engineering is aware of issues affecting the ability of devices to connect to the wired network in on-campus residence halls. The cause has been identified and engineers are actively working on a resolution at this time. Users may see error messages on their devices such as "Unable to reach DHCP server" or "Could not assign IP address" until this issue is resolved. There is no workaround for this issue at this time. Further updates will be provided as resolution efforts continue.

Network team investigated and restarted a service to fix the issue. They are currently working with the vendor to prevent the issue from reoccurring.

The excessive log files have been cleared out. We are still working to identify the root cause, and are seeing the service returning to normal operating state.

GT Engineers have received reports of issues with github.gatech.edu, including difficulty finding members when adding them to repositories or organizations, missing Issues, and other unexpected behavior. We are actively investigating the service and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
