FAO cat people [13 Jan 2008|12:38pm]
Hi,

My cat Tiger (who is spayed) and I have recently been having trouble with visits from a pesky tom cat. He comes in through the cat flap at various times of the day or night and if I'm not around to shoo him back out he eats Tiger's food or sprays on the furniture. I have tried various things to discourage him, I now lock the flap at night times and make sure that there's no food lying around for him to steal, but now he comes in during the day, which is a problem as I am often at work. I wondered if anyone else has experienced similar problems and if so, what did you do and did it work? I don't want to change my cat flap for one that opens with a collar as Tiger doesn't like collars and besides which in the UK they can be expensive.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

I'm trying to find a journal on here written by a guy in Australia (I think) who's a psychiatric nurse, and wrote about the exploits of his patients in his (or her?) journal. I thought I saw the original in the TWS community, but I've been through the memories over there and can't find what I'm loking for. Anyone got a scooby either what I'm on about or how else to find it? I've done category searches under mental health, mental illness, psychiatry, psychology and psychiatric nursing and still can't find what I'm after :/

"You can't rap my friend you're white and you're from Fulham...." [05 Feb 2007|10:45pm]

Otehr news: I phoned incompetent Orange today, apparently I should receive my broadband stuff in the next 10 working days, so my faithful old laptop will probs become rather obsolete :/ We did destruction (breaking) in kickboxing today, which I won a gold for at the competition in November. Today we did elbow strikes which was cool. We did open palm strikes on Saturday, which was great but we couldn't get the damn white board to break (difficulty ranges from junior blue - easiest - to adult black - hardest). I broke an adult black board in the competition which was how I won it, but there's definately some kind of psychological barrier around that damn white. Next grading = 24th March, yellow belt here I come!

[ mood | working ]

I bought a car this weekend, its a silver corsa and I'm hopefully picking it up tomorrow all being well.

Lily's eye seems to have improved somewhat, its fully open now, although i'm not convinced it's focusing properly. Anyway, she seems fine, and she's no longer flinching and hiding, so that's a relief.

Went kickboxing earlier, didn't really feel in the mood and it took lots of effort to drag my ass down there, but i was glad i went in the end. We practiced jumping and flying kicks, it was really hard!

I'm currently using my second day off in the last 3 weeks to write a report on my keychild, I really want a 9-5!!! Considering updating my CV and hawking myself round some care agencies to see what's about. Anyway, this titting report won't write itself :(

Ok, so I really can't be arsed to move away from the fire to look for some paper and a pen, so I'm gonna be rather sad and plan my week off on here.

Things I need to do this week:

* Finish painting my room and move all furniture back
* Tidy and clean!
* Write uni assignment - riveting series of questions on the sexual development of abused children
* Go to Ikea
* Persuade Roy to do useful man things around the house.
* Lose vast dark circles that have appeared under my eyes.
* Get hair cut

And stacks of other highly fascinating things.

Oh, and check my rather sexual new icon courtesy of rubytitania :)

Hey guys,

Thought it was about time my kittens made an appearance in this journal, seeing as I've had them for a while now. Lily is the grey and white one shown here:

and this one is Tiger:

Tiger is still a total fluff pot, but Lily is now quite short haired. I came home from work today and they were sat on the window sill trying to catch the rain drops streaming down the window.

Network help needed please [30 Aug 2006|01:29pm]
Hey guys,

I've embraced the technological age and bought a new PC. I'm trying to make a LAN to connect it to my laptop so I can transfer stuff across using an ethernet cable which I assumed I'd be able to plug in and *shazam* spangly new network is made. Surprisingly enough, it didn't quite go according to plan, and now I have cables connected into every orifice of each computer and still no network. If anyone has any help to offer that'd be marvellous

K xx

Haven't updated in ages, but to sum up the last...however long it's been... I've finally moved!! Moved in on thursday, and am thoroughly enjoying being both a homeowner and living on my own. The house was left in a bit of a state by the previous people, who clearly didn't believe in cleaning. The kitchen appliances were all included in the sale, but the oven had half a roast pork festering in there, the grill had 2 dirty frying pans in it and the fridge had a LIVE FLEA in it. I kid you not. Having bought my own body weight in heavy duty cleaning products, and enlisted the help of mates from work, it's starting to look a lot better. I don't have a phone line at home as yet, so access to LJ will be sporadic at best, but hey, I doubt anyone reads this anyway, so who cares.

So my house should have the party wall finished today, the roofer is coming again today to inspect it in the daylight, and the damp proof man is coming on tuesday to fix that. I'll be ringing my mortgage lady tomorrow, so hopefully by Wednesday, everything should be back on track.

Exciting news: I have a provisional move date of 9th June. Can't wait!!

[ mood | blah ]

House update: I rang the bloke I'm buying from, he says he found out that there was no party wall after the surveyor had been and claims to be fixing that. He also claims to have a certificate saying the roof is sound, although it clearly isn't as there wouldn't be "visible daylight" otherwise. Still, he reckons he's getting his roofer to come and have another look tomorrow, and that he's asked for someone to come out and give a second opinion on the rising damp. So maybe I won't have to pull out after all....

Other news: John and I seem to be stuck in a bottomless rut, not really sure how to go about fixing that :/

Also, I have the dentist tomorrow :/

Fuckbuggerbollocks!!!!!!!

Had my survey report back today. Turns out my potential house has possible rising damp to the ground floor and may also need the roof replacing :(

I blatantly can't afford to pay for that, so it's looking likely that I'll have to drop out. Obviously I'm really gutted, not least because I've already spent about 450 quid in fees, and because I was really looking forward to moving out ASAP :(((((

[ mood | sore ]

Why is it that at the vaguest whiff of summer my hormones have gone completely haywire????

Had the third day of my PRICE (physical restraint training) refresher course yesterday, and decided for a laugh to attempt to escape from being restrained by 2 burly instructors, which i did (woo!), but now appear to have fucked my left arm and shoulder :( We have to practice the techniques on each other, and also have to make it realistic for when we need to restrain for real, so yesterday I actcidentally headbutted Berny, who then went on to give Danny a nosebleed. Later on, I had to apply a leg support on Berny, who kicked the shit out of my forearms, so now I have lots of multi coloured bruises, and also several on my ass and hips. I look like a rainbow. Other work related news, one of the houses (not mine) has been filled to capacity when they have no staff, just like all the other houses in the region, so now have gone into crisis as their staff all appear to be leaving or off sick. I'm suspecting that at our team meeting tommorow they'll be asking for volunteers to be seconded there, working with 5 violent teenage boys. I'd actually quite like to go truth be told, could do with a new challenge, although as I'm a keyworker chances are I'll be staying where I am.

Hmmkay, I went to these sites:

http://www.planetemu.net/?section=recherche&recherche=mad%20professor%20mariarti&type=Tous%20les%20mots&rubrique=roms

http://www.winuae.net/

Downloaded everything, but it won't play - winuae keeps harking on about summat to do with system ROMS and needing Kickstart...something.

What now?

<3

EDIT: Downloaded something pertaining to be Kickstart 1.3, but it hasn't made any difference :(

Does anyone recognise this little blast from the past? We used to play this on an acorn at primary school, think you had to go round various levels looking for wrenches and stuff. I've spent ages looking for an emulator(?) of this, and have so far found....bugger all. If anyone knows where I can get a copy of that'll work on my PC, I'll be a very happy bunny :)
