About

Hi! I’m Starkey Comics

I make comics, images, maps, and posts about things I’m interested in. One of my favourite challenges is taking a very complex topic and trying to make it simple, accessible, and visually appealing.

I’m dyslexic, which is perhaps why I’ve always been fascinated by using images to display complex information in simple and clear ways.

A lot of these images exist simply because nobody else has made them yet. I hate it when I’m trying to learn about a topic and can’t find a nice simple diagram, graphic, or map that summarises the information, so I make my own.

I’m interested in a lot of topics, so you’ll probably find a bit of everything here, but many of my posts are about:

Linguistics, especially dialects and etymology. I’m fascinated by the way languages evolve, change, and influence each other. I love how language can bring people together while also becoming an important part of distinct cultural identities.

History, especially the history of culture, language, ideas, and religion.

Maps. Often the best way to explain an idea is visually, and maps are one of my favourite ways of doing that.

Science and nature. My background is in biochemistry, and I’d like to make more science and ecology-related posts in the future.

I hope you enjoy my projects, and learn from them as much as I’ve enjoyed and learned from making them.

If you enjoy my posts, please do one thing for me in return: like, share, and help them reach other people who might enjoy them too.
