I am a huge fan of Fandom and all that it does, from my earliest days as a kid playing at new stories for She-Ra and Battle of the Planets to my college/uni days running sci-fi/fantasy conventions to current days where I am creating fanworks - be they fic, art, podfic or other. Hi, All! I know I've been off here for a long time. 2020 sucked all my emotions and motivations right out of me. But I am back. Getting vaccinated and seeing friends has helped a lot.

So today is Halloween! Spooky goodness to all of you. So long since anything of real merit from me. I just haven't been on LJ as much anymore. I'm still active in hp_halloween and hp_podfic_fest as mod and snape_potter as a participant, but I've even forgotten to repost from those!

Maybe now that I've settled down again at home, I'll be able to write and post more.

Snowflake Day 1

In your own space, talk about your Happy Place—the things that give you joy, calms you or keeps you sane.

Well, it seems I like to do these things in February, and even then I'm a day late. Ah, well....

My happy place is reading fan faction. Surprise, surprise. But really, it's all about submersing myself in an alternate reality, watching my favorite characters interact. A lot of the pressures of real life are gone. A lot of new scenarios show up to stimulate my brain.

I also enjoy my couch in my house, especially if no one else is nearby. It's comfy and warm. :)

My last post was in May! Wow, so long ago. I feel so out of fandom lately.

Dad died in April and since then, we've had to take care of my mom, who has Alzheimer's. Very frustrating disease. Some of the things we can deal with -- like reminding her every few minutes of what is happening, and helping her get dressed, and drive her around to appointments and grocery shopping. Her basic negative personality? Not so much. I wish she could see happiness, but all she sees now is worry. :(

In fandom news, we had hp_podfic_fest and I didn't even mention it here in my journal. I had one entry and will repost soon.

Also, hp_halloween is now open for sign-ups!!!!!!!! We love running this fest. Please come join us.

And I will be participating in Secret Snarry Fest on snape_potter, as usual.

So I have been super lax at reposting ANYTHING this last year and a half. Goodness! I need to get a grip. Although in my defense, life has been very crazy, with school and then job search and then a new job with a move to a new city. Then the holidays. It's amazing I got anything fandom-wise accomplished.

Anyway, over the next week, I'll be reposting things from fests in the last year.

I haven't gone away, just slowed down a bit.
