Membership dues do not cover all the costs associated with operating our genealogical library and society, storing and scanning local records, or providing research assistance.
If we’ve helped you in any way — maybe we’ve provided information useful to your family history research, or maybe you just want to help support family and local history in the Chicago Southland — we welcome your support in any amount. Our staff is made up entirely of volunteers, so all donations go directly into maintaining our library. You may donate by credit, debit, PayPal, or check.

Legacy Fund
Recognizing that the Society needed a sustained method of support for its operation, the SSGHS Board established an endowment fund to provide ongoing support for our Society. Donations are presently invested with the Vanguard Wellington Mutual Fund. The dividends and capital gains will go into our General Fund to help meet our financial needs. The principal will stay invested. We invite our members and friends to contribute to this Legacy Fund.
Invest in Your Heritage
To display the growth of the Legacy Fund, there is a plaque for attaching leaves to a genealogical tree. For each significant contribution an inscribed leaf may be attached. Your name or the name of an ancestor or of a loved one may be engraved on the leaf, or an important event may be commemorated.
You may choose the name and message to be engraved. The message may be on two lines.
All contributions will benefit the Society, but those at the following levels will be recognized with a leaf.

Leaves of three colors are available, each represents a level of contribution:

Recognizes a contribution between $200.00 and $499.00

Recognizes a contribution of $1000.00 or more
