DOJ drops criminal probe of Fed Chair Powell

Fri, Apr 24, 2026 at 11:22 am
The Justice Department has dropped its criminal investigation into Fed Chair Jerome Powell. Federal prosecutors were conducting a probe into Chairman Powell and the Fed’s extensive building renovations. President Trump, who has harshly criticized Powell for not lowering interest rates fast enough, had refused to end the criminal investigation even after a federal judge said prosecutors had produced “essentially zero evidence” to suspect Powell of a crime. The decision to end the probe will likely clear the way for Senate confirmation of Kevin Warsh to replace Powell as chair next month.

GOP Wants AI Regulation on the Ballot

Tue, Apr 21, 2026 at 6:48 am

Republican candidates are making Artificial Intelligence a campaign issue in some key races.

————————————-

VERBATIM:

Doug Fiefia (fee-uh-FEE-uh) once worked at Google. Now he’s a Utah state representative running to be a state senator. And like some other tech employees who’ve gone into politics, he’s made regulating the artificial intelligence industry a campaign centerpiece. That’s put him on a collision course with President Donald Trump’s administration!

Earlier this year, it helped block the lawmaker’s state proposal requiring companies to include child safety protocols. The White House wants a single national AI standard. But with no progress on that front in Congress, state lawmakers are struggling to address concerns about the game-changing technology.

A victory for religious freedom in Washington state

VERBATIM:  A federal district court has rejected a request by the state that it dismiss a lawsuit filed by a Christian couple.  Shane and Jennifer DeGross were rejected as foster parents because they would not agree to a new stipulation by Washington that they agree to help any child in their care live as the opposite sex, should that child ask to do so.  Alliance Defending Freedom represents the couple and says the state is putting ideology above kids’ needs.  MH REPORTING
