At Spotlight Delaware, we believe everyone deserves access to quality local news and information. We rely on our members to make our work possible.
Your gift supports reporting that connects neighbors, holds the powerful to account, and advances ideas that strengthen communities across Delaware.
The preselected option at left signs you up for a sustaining membership — a steady source of support that we can rely on every month, and that allows us to plan ahead and grow our coverage. Your card will be charged each month; you can change or cancel your membership at any time.
If you’d prefer to become a member via a one-time or annual contribution, you can select “one-time” for a single gift or “annual” for a once-a-year contribution.
All members also receive perks (see below), including event access, discounts, and exclusive updates.

Connected
$1-$99 per year
- Helping your community: providing independent journalism to foster a more engaged Delaware

Engaged
$100-$249 per year
Everything from Connected, plus:
- Access to members-only virtual events (editor calls, story discussions, etc.)
- Invitations to twice-annual Member Mixers, where members and Spotlight staffers meet up for some local libations
Empowered
$250-$499 per year
Everything from Engaged, plus:
- A Spotlight Delaware mug!
- Opportunity to vote on which nonprofit to be featured in a Spotlight Delaware sponsored content article
Mobilized
$500-$999 per year
Everything from Empowered, plus:
- Invitation to an annual “Community Crawl” Curated Experience (walking tours of areas featured in Spotlight articles; reporter-led explorations of favorite Delaware spots)
- Opportunity to nominate a nonprofit to be featured in a Spotlight Delaware sponsored content article
Membership levels are calculated on an annual basis. For example, a $10 monthly recurring membership will be considered an Engaged Member ($100+ donated annually) and will receive all the benefits of that tier. If you make a one-time payment, you are considered a member for one year. Processing fees are not included in the calculation of membership level.

Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes! Spotlight Delaware is a project of the Local Journalism Initiative, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization. Our Federal Tax ID is #87-2914947. Gifts are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
How do you use my support?
Your support funds the Spotlight Delaware newsroom, including reporters, editors, and those who work to fund our journalism, as well as our work to strengthen Delaware communities through internships and partnerships with other local news organizations.
Is my donation secure?
Your donation payment information is processed via Donorbox, a secure payment platform. We do not share or sell the personal information of our donors nor send donor mailings on behalf of other organizations.

Do I get a subscription if I become a member?
Spotlight Delaware is a paywall-free digital news website. There is no subscription that you will receive. However, you will be sent a monthly members-only newsletter.
How do I sign up for the members-only newsletter?
When you support Spotlight Delaware, you are automatically subscribed to our members-only newsletter, which hits inboxes on the first Monday of every month.
