SploshBox Reverb / Sustainer (AUv3) SploshBox is an audio effect plugin that can run standalone, or in any AU compatible host application such as Logic or GarageBand. Overview SploshBox is vintage-flavoured digital reverb that also allows you to "freeze" the reverb tail for infinite sustain effects. The early generation of hardware digital reverbs had a slightly grainy and "unnatural" quality to them due to limited CPU and RAM. SploshBox has similar tonal characteristics, but while being kind to your CPU, it also features up to one minute of reverb decay time! Or, infinity when you engage freeze mode... Parameters Active - Toggles the effect On or Off. When SploshBox is turned Off, any reverb will continue to decay, similar to "trails mode" found in many effects pedals. Delay - Sets a pre-delay time before the incoming audio is passed on to the reverb DSP. This can be used creatively so that the initial attack / transients of a sound are preserved and not "smeared" by the reverb tail for example. Decay - Sets the overall decay time for the reverb tail. This is calculated as the time for a 0dB impulse to decay to -60dB. Typically, unless the incoming signal is 0dB, the actual decay time may appear a little shorter before it hits -60dB. Spread - Sets the stereo width of the generated reverb from totally mono, to very stereo-tastic! LPF - Sets the cutoff frequency of a lowpass filter on the generated reverb. Reduce this parameter to make the reverb effect warmer / softer. Mix - Adjusts the balance between the dry incoming audio, and the wet generated reverb, from completely dry to 100% wet. Freeze - Engages the reverb freeze effect so that whatever is in the reverb buffers will sustain continuously. By toggling Freeze in and out, very interesting creative and drone effects can be achieved, especially when assigning the parameter to a MIDI controller. Please note that when Freeze is On, reverb will not be applied to your dry input signal - it's as if the reverb is frozen in that moment. SploshBox does not store "frozen" audio between sessions, so if Freeze mode is On when restoring a session, you won't hear any reverb. If the name sounds familiar, SploshBox is a version of the SPLOSHBOX module developed for Voltage Modular by Waverley Instruments. Version History This is hopefully a better fix for anyone still getting BAD SIGNAL! errors in AUM, and similar / related errors in other hosts / DAWs. Sorry about that - it was a really hard bug to reproduce, and a bit of a stinker to fix. 1.0.5 04/17/2025 Added some extra validation around naughty numbers ending up in output buffers. If you were seeing BAD SIGNAL! in AUM, hopefully this update will fix that. If it doesn't, please do let me know about your extra naughty numbers! 1.0.3 04/16/2025 1.0.1 04/15/2025
