Weather's been crazy lately. We've been getting a mad amount of snow, but the temperature has been hovering around the freezing point. This morning it was snowing and the snow banks were melting at the same time. Crazy.

I finally got my paws on Transformers: Last Stand of the Wreckers #1.

New announcement today. Apparently Hasbro really is going to make a Drift toy. o_O I wasn't overly impressed with him in the comics since he screams Gary Stu to me.

But.

But his toy tempts me. =/

Gonna add him to my wish list then. TF: Animated Arcee and Rodimus Prime Minor are already on it. So is G1 SkyJetfire. And, as I was just reminded, War for Cybertron Optimus (he's not Prime yet though).

But my greatest wish is Masterpiece Ultra Magnus. I might have saved enough red pocket money to buy him now. <3 (Note: I don't get much per pocket, so it's actually taken me a while to save up. Besides, outings with friends sometimes dent my "toy action figure" fund. :D) If I can't find a cheaper priced MP Ultra Magnus at this year's TFCon, I'll just bite the bullet and order him online. Then I'd have to save up to buy the City Commander armor set from FanProject. XD Ah, the endless cycle of life. :p

Anyway, I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day, Chinese New Year, or plain ol' Feb 14, 2010. ^^

Now, I'm off to succumb to this food coma. Buuuuuuh. :)

Wow
I was sort of ... underwhelmed with the Olympic opening ceremony.

The SFX was amazing, and so were most of the performers. kd lang really nailed it tonight (but what was up with her neck!?!). Sarah Maclachlan was awesome as well! However the cultural aspect of the program was mish-mashy. I really didn't see the point to it, and for me, it didn't portray Canada all that well. The choreography for most of the dance routines seemed disorganized, or maybe because there weren't enough dancers to fill up the stage, imo. For such a big space, it sure was empty.

There were also a few snafu moments. There was the late arrival of the Four Nations chiefs, and also the mechanical breakdown of the Olympic Flame cauldron. These things happens, but oi, what a time for them to happen!

Apparently an American commentator (I was switching from CTV to NBC whenever one went to commercial break :D) said Canada was boring.

Sadly .... I have to agree with him on this one. =/

"He wanted to tell her, from the greater perspective he had, that to own only a little talent, like his, was an awful, plaguing thing; that being only a little special meant you expected too much, most of the time, and liked yourself too little. He wanted to assure her that she had missed nothing."

An excerpt from "Yours" by Mary Robison. I really liked that part since it spoke to me of truth.

... but I'm not.

I have a super early day tomorrow, and this is my first clinical with a 12-hour shift (yikes!) but I feel too antsy to sleep. So I thought I'd update my poorly neglected LJ in an attempt to unload stuff off my chest and get calm enough to sleep.

This semester is kicking my aft, but I'm glad with the way it's going so far. No super early days, but I don't have that many breaks in between long classes. I'm pretty exhausted when I come home, and though I can keep up with my (very few) LJ and forum commitments, I find it hard to be really involved in anything. I wish I had the time and inspiration to be excited and passionate about my fandoms again, but for now all I can manage is to put myself in cruise control when I browse through LJ.

Well, I finally installed Vista (when Windows 7 already came out, lol) and I have to say, I like it. So far my computer isn't screwing up on me (XP totally went to shit a week or two ago; a virus is the suspected reason), so I have my fingers crossed that my run with Vista will go much better. I do not look forward to reformatting my hard drive and installing an OS again.

On a sadder note, Finley died. -_- This teaches me to buy a fish from Petsmart. Bettas live an average of 3 years, and I think he was just shy of 2 years. Tumours just started springing up inside him, and well, I tried my best. =/ May he swim in peace in the big fish bowl in the sky.

Everything else in my life is the same, sad enough.

In any case, I hope everyone on my f-list is doing well. :)

I put up a Winter/Christmas themed layout + icons again. I'm super excited for the coming holidays, but I wonder if I'll make it under all this school pressure.

Got my seasonal flu shot as well as H1N1 so hopefully I'm covered now. Need to see my dentist, optometrist, and chiropractor though for check-ups and uh, re-alignment? D:

LOL, my brother already showed me what I'm getting for Christmas. Anti-climatic, but eh, I guess he was too excited to keep it in. ^^

Also, we got a Wii for Christmas (as a gift from my Mom) but I promised myself not to play it till exams are over. Argh, Mario Kart is soooooo tempting. ;_;

Hope everyone's doing well! To those in school, we're almost done!

While looking for All Hail Megatron #16, I accidentally stumbled on some StarCraft comics.

Whuh? Since when did they make SC comics?

Apparently, DC does and it started this year. XD And it's co-written by none other than Simon Furman himself!

So I couldn't help but take a look through the first 4 issuesCollapse )

Now, for a dose of AWESOME!

"No, it's not a vagina."

XD The funny thing is, we were all thinking it was.

On a more serious note, I'm wondering if I should get the H1N1 vaccination. On one hand, I work in a health care setting. On the other hand, I'm not in a high risk group. ... But on a mutated third hand, I do remember getting the flu as an older child/teen, and that kicked my ass real good.

Huh.

I'm still sitting on the fence on this.

Yargh.

Edit: I just found this site with works by Jeffrey Thomas called "Twisted Princess". It's a macabre take on Disney princesses, and, uh, can we say WOW? (It's nothing too bad, but if you're a hardcore Disney Princess fan, you might want to stay away).

It's hard to say which I like best. Mulan, for sure, and also Belle, Pocahontas, Aurora, and Jasmine. Honourable mention goes to Cinderella.

Wow, it's been a while since I updated!

Well, school has kept me pretty busy, and so has my clinical placement. Also, my OS finally decided to sepukku itself (can we say endless rebooting?) and my brother had to re-install Windows XP for me. Yup, I know I said I'd upgrade to Vista, but my printer is oooooold, so it wouldn't have worked with it. =/ When I get a new printer, I'll upgrade (I hope @_@).

Aside from the tedium of updating and re-installing all my programs (thank God the computer didn't have to be reformatted; I had school work I hadn't backed up yet!) all the missing .dll files that mysteriously went missing are here again! So that means I can actually use the latest version of Firefox, standard Gmail, and youtuuuuuube. ;_; Dang, it feels good to be 'up to date' now.

Anyway, just wanted to wish every Canadian on my f-list a Happy Thanksgiving! I know it's tomorrow but I asked my family to have it today since Tuesday and the following weeks are test/due days. XD

Happy thanksgiving! Eat lots of turkey! ♥

As requested by my friend, here are the three charms I got (scroll down to see actual pictures):

Autobot Cellphone Charm (now relegated as a keychain :p)

Butterfly Cellphone Charm

Triple Red Bomb Cellphone Charm

... two "boy" charms to one "girlie" one. Not bad. :p

Also, my internet is intent on eating itself. It will connect with the network, but I can't access the internet. I had to use my brother's internet for school, and I can't use it for long.

I've called Bell's helpline like .... 3-4 times now, and still no real resolution. The person said she'd bump my problem to the "server guys" to see if it's their network or something. >.< She also gave me two weeks free.

Nice and all, but I want it to work perfectly instead. Sigh.
