The Mobile Application – Spider Watch developed with expertise and knowledge of Mr. Aniruddha Dhamorikar - is a Citizen Science initiative, to promote the understanding and action necessary for a sustainable environment. It is hoped that this mobile application will help increase awareness and understanding about spiders amongst fellow citizens.
Spider Watch App is an initiative of Earthwatch Institute India and The Corbett Foundation to facilitate easy identification of some of the spiders in the field using mobile application.
Spiders are ubiquitous eight-legged arachnids found all around us, yet not much is known about them. This app showcases 50 common species of spiders found all around us, in our homes, gardens, and forests, to understand them for their intrinsic value to the natural ecosystem they are a part of. Spiders being carnivorous play a vital ecological role in controlling populations of pestiferous insects, such as mosquitoes. This app is for anyone curious about, and wants to be initiated in knowing the world of spiders.
Spider Watch App is an initiative of Earthwatch Institute India to facilitate easy identification of some of the spiders in the field using mobile application. It is hoped that this mobile application will help increase public awareness and generate greater interest regarding spiders amongst the young citizens in our country. The App will further strengthen our keenness to observe the spiders and help us as Citizen Scientist in contributing to the knowledge base.
The app displays information such as:
1. High Resolution image.
2. Common and Scientific names.
3.Key data like IUCN Status, Endemicity, Rarity, Size, Typical Habitat, Localities, Where to Look and Activity.

1. Multiple navigation like Pages, Slider and searchable grid view.
2. Pinch or Double tap to Zoom.
3. Spider slideshow widget!
4. Slideshow mode.
5. In-App brightness control.
6. Set any Spider picture as your Wallpaper.
7. Landscape book style navigation.
7. Remembers previous read page and position.
