Summary: When Brendon brings the unconscious man he finds during a blizzard into his home, he suspects the man may be a slave, but there's no way he could have predicted any of the things that unravel simply by allowing the stranger in to sit next to his fireplace.
Warnings: Mentions of sex slavery, abuse, and related issues. Mentions of deaths of nonspecific characters by hanging and fire.
Author Notes: I'd like to thank my mixer Cinco cincodemaygirl who terrified and excited me all at once when I decided to write for this collection of songs. A big thanks to my darling friend Kallleigh aholelabledlove for letting me bounce weird ideas off of her for months and at all random hours of the day and night and also for hooking me up with my beta. And a HUGE thank you to Rachel glo_starz_fics, my darling, wonderful beta, who apparently can edit at the speed of light more than once and still make me look good. Author Notes: I also just want to say that since the Bright Eyes song that inspired this is a very personal song for Conor Oberst and family, that I'm not making light of the situation at all. My deepest feelings go out to all of them over what happened.
Also, I don't know why I originally did that with the text. If it bothers you too very much, copy the text and put it in a Word document and fix it or something. I wrote it this way to try to emphasize certain things and because it's mine and I can.
