Sunday Whirling Wordle…10-30-2022

Today’s word list:

Jerry winced as he watched Miranda whirling by.   She was dressed, in Jerry’s opinion, very inappropriately, for they’d only buried her husband the day before.   But here she was waltzing with some upstart.  Her tartan plaid of red and green flashed and she looked ready for anything.  She wore a faded dried ring of roses that looked like it might disintegrate if someone sneezed hard enough on it.   Her bright hair, titian, complimented the gown and the odd head adornment.    Jerry knew he wasn’t the only one who was scandalized and whispering behind their hands.   Miranda was twenty five years younger than her husband, and the elegy given at the strange funeral was more festive than somber.  Jerry remembered the wedding day when the bride wore black from head to toe, the wreath fresh and with red roses adorning its black satin and full veil.  Only a very few people knew of the pact that Miranda had made.  Miranda was the price for keeping her father out of debtors’ prison.  She made no secret of why she married the older man, and it was obvious why he married her.  But no children ensued from the bizarre union.  Over the years Miranda took numerous lovers and the old man turned a blind eye to the sometimes manic behavior of his bride.   Miranda didn’t feign any grief at becoming a widow.   She was very well placed now and appeared to begin enjoying life on her terms.   Jerry remembered Miranda’s first Communion* and the wafer that was placed on her tongue. * I’m not Catholic, so took a bit of liberty with that particular ritual.  If it’s not true, or out of line somehow, let me know.*  Only Jerry knew of the vicious fight, the ranting and raving like a mad woman at being forced to join a church her family had fought about for centuries before Miranda’s time.  Jerry looked over the rolling hills, eternal and seeming endless, a ridge of limestone making the border.  He sighed.  His sister was a complicated woman and he wondered what she’d get up to next.

Song by Sixpence None The Richer
Kiss me, out of the bearded barleyNightly, beside the green, green grassSwing, swing, (swing, swing) swing the spinning stepYou wear those shoes and I will wear that dress
Oh, kiss me, beneath the milky twilightLead me out on the moonlit floorLift your open handStrike up the band and make the fireflies danceSilver moon’s sparklingSo kiss me
Kiss me, (kiss me) down by the broken tree houseSwing me, (swing me) upon its hanging tireBring, bring, (bring, bring) bring your flowered hatWe’ll take the trail marked on your father’s map
Oh, kiss me, beneath the milky twilightLead me out on the moonlit floorLift your open handStrike up the band and make the fireflies danceSilver moon’s sparklingSo kiss me
Kiss me, beneath the milky twilightLead me out on the moonlit floorLift your open handStrike up the band and make the fireflies danceSilver moon’s sparklingSo kiss me
So kiss meSo kiss meSo kiss me

The Song Is The Same, Now Can Someone Change The Danged Channel??!

I’ve been absent for most of this week because on Tuesday I took a really bad fall.  Had to have the cops come get me upright again.  S.S.D.D.   The walker (Zimmer frame to those across the pond I believe) is now a permanent fixture where ever I go.  This fall was the worst yet, I’m grateful I didn’t break a bone.  I am black and blue from bruises, and I wrenched my back.  I have two sizable cuts on my face and I’m grateful to be in one piece.   Whoever said “these are the golden years” was deluded.   More like fool’s gold if you ask me.

As a side note, and because I’m just catching up a bit – R.I.P. Ashley of Mental Health at Home.   I heard she died after reading Rory’s coffee post today.  Some days are diamonds, some days are stones.  I thought Ashley was a wise person with loads of knowledge and although hugely depressed, she seemed to be handling things.  Depression is never that cut and dried though.  I would NEVER do myself in because I’d worry about Ziggy and what might happen.  I’m shocked that Ashley did, because I know she loved her ‘piggos’ a great deal.   That big a load of pain and all that goes with chronic depression is mighty tempting when you’re in the midst of it though.

Questions
Season One
What ways are you adopting to save on energy bills?  I’ve been a recycler since the 1980s.  People thought I was dopey for doing that, but it’s a good habit.  My town has a monopoly on the utilities so it is difficult to affect much change.  I do use a cold water washer and an energy efficient dryer though.
Are there too many TV channels today offering too much content choice and do you struggle to find something to watch – discuss.  I did struggle because most of  the stuff I did watch was re-runs (British murder mysteries mostly).  After I had been in hospital, I stopped watching TV at all.  I’m trying to get back to honing my mind if you will with word puzzles, crosswords and jigsaw puzzles.
How often do you read, watch, or listen to the news on the average week? Zero or as near it as I can get.  Of course the onslaught of ads and more ads on every site imaginable doesn’t help the effort, but I’m determined.
What would you say are five important life skills people should know?
How to do simple math (like making change, knowing the value of a dollar or pound.
Good hygiene always.
How to do your own laundry and cooking.
“Life” skills – like cleaning up after yourself, making your bed and that sort of thing
The art of listening.  It’s tougher than one might think.
When at school how often did you complete your set homework?  Every time.  Well, until I dropped out.  But overall I was an “A or A+” student.
What don’t men understand about women and what do women want men to really know about them?   I cannot possibly answer this.  Each individual (regardless of gender) is different in perspective and all of us ‘learn’ in different ways.  One thing that I’m happy to say has gone the way of the Dodo bird is sexual harassment, especially if a woman is well endowed.  It’s not sexy to be gawped at and having to say things like ‘My eyes are up here” type of stuff.
What do people want from life?  Me? To go quickly if go I must.  I am devastated by the news of Ashley’s death.  It’s very close to home.
What is your most comfortable pair of shoes and why?  The only shoes I wear now are trainers.  Everything else is either too uncomfortable or will cause me to fall down.  I don’t need to do more of that, thanks.
If your favourite colour wasn’t available what would be the next colour you choose to wear on your head?  As in a hat or scarf or are you talking hair color?  Purple is my color; but blues and ocean colors are a close second.
What are your Top 3 worst smells or scents?  My top three that I dislike intensely?   Patchouli.  It’s fine if used in moderation, but I’ve yet to find a person who doesn’t bath in the stuff, and it plain stinks (IMO); the smell of frying onions; and last, but hardly least – a thawed out dead body part.  If you smell THAT nothing else will ever compare to the experience.
If you could spend a whole day in Disneyland with anyone – living or dead who would it be and why?  I’d go to Disneyland with Brian Lagose (Bonnywood Manor)- he always seems to have a lot of fun and I’d love to go do something like that with him.
Are you a Halloweener and if so how and why and if not, why not?  Absolutely.  In fact, Halloween is ‘my’ winter holiday of choice.  Thanksgiving is too uncomfortable given my family, and they don’t want to know at Christmas.  I have the best time at Halloween.
What job did you want to have when you were a child growing up and more importantly did it ever appear as an opportunity in any shape once as an adult?   I knew by the time I was eight or nine that I wanted to work some sort of desk job.  I’m not terribly athletic and I loathe doing outside labor.  And strangely enough.  All the jobs I’ve had, save for the cleaning company I worked for, have been desk jobs.

Throwback Thursday on Saturday 10-29-2022

https://fromcavewalls.wordpress.com/2022/10/27/throwback-thursday-61-costumes/

Did you celebrate Halloween? If so, what was your most memorable costume?👻🎃🦇🧹☠💀    Yes, we really got into it (save for the Foster Hell years).   My most memorable?  It’s hard to choose because I have worn some sort of costume every year since I was eleven.   I made a passable Cleopatra with a long crepe off white dress and bangles on my wrist and lots of eye make up; I also was a French maid one year complete with fishnet stockings and a very very short skirt (I wore shorts under it).

2. When was the last time you dressed in a costume? What was the reason?  It is to be this year (if the thing still fits), and just because.

3. As a child, did you like pretending you were someone else? Did you create costumes with things around the house?  Of course.  It was far easier to be someone else than who I actually was. Being encouraged to dress up though was something I just never thought of.  And those foster hell people didn’t like others touching their stuff.

4. Did you ever attend Mardi Gras, Carnival or any other festival with masks or costumes? Did you wear a mask or costume?  One of my biggest regrets is not ever going to Mardi Gras before Katrina.  I think it looked like a gas.  Now?  Too many people, too crowded.

5. Were you ever in a play (school or otherwise) that required a costume? If so, who were you?  Yes, I did a Community Theater play, playing the role of an inept 18 year old who wanted desperately to be a cheerleader.   They made copies for everyone, but I never got one as I never went back and did another.  Still, it was a lot of fun!

6. Do you participate in cosplay or go to Comic Conventions?  Nope.  I don’t even know what ‘cosplay’ is..  🤔

7. What character from movies, comics, or plays has the best costume?  In my opinion?  It’s too tough to choose, because of the different genre.  Some are very elaborate, others are simply beautiful.

8. Think of scary or horror movies. Which character’s costume and/or make up was the most frightening? Was it the costume alone, or the movie itself which made it frightening?   Michael Myers (sp?)  That mask still gives me shivers if I spot one in a store or something.  The movie was scary enough but that character?  Gave me nightmares for a long time.

9. Have you ever visited historic places where the staff wears period costumes? If so, where was it?  Gettysburg.

10. Have you ever attended a Broadway or Off Broadway or Community Theatre production with great costumes? Leave a clip or photo here of your favorite.  We got to see “Grease” on Broadway way back in the day.

Five Little Irritants 10-26-2022 –

https://saltedcaramel670.wordpress.com/2022/10/25/5-little-irritants/

Dr. Tanya prompts us to share “Five Little Irritants”.

I’ve been called “crabby.”  I have crabby genes, because my whole nuclear family is the same way; save for my father who was patient beyond and above the call.  We’re fractious, grudge holders.

But the top five are now involved with America’s startling and most unwelcome health care and *insurance*.  One needs a degree to understand the rules, because I suspect there are none.

  1. Liars.   I don’t appreciate being lied to, even though I know they are lying.  Which happens as a matter of course in almost all the medical offices, surgical and out patient and the rest. It’s doubly annoying because they know you know they are lying and I suppose it’s part of S.O.P. (standard operating procedure) and going along to get along.
  2. Disinterest or worse by those who are supposed to be doing the caring for the patient.  I’ve encountered a variety of people during my trials, but going to work ‘for the money’ doesn’t belong in schools nor anyone doing a medical professional job.  Go work at Burger King™ where they’re just glad the worker shows up consistently and working strictly for the pay is just fine.
  3. Smokers.  This one is probably out of date, but blowing vape fumes in my face isn’t going to make me less crabby.  Keep your addiction to yourself.  A possibility that has been floated out there is that it’s possible (remotely) that hubby and his addiction caused the cancer.  He was very hypocritical about it too, but smoke is smoke, even if one source is ‘natural’
  4. Unruly, yowling kids.  Buy the damned kid a muzzle and shut it the eff up.  It’s not as cute as you might think, especially after an extended wait in an office where you can’t leave the scene without possibly losing your spot in line.
  5. I’ve been answering phones a very long time now.  From the old key and peg switchboards to today’s (annoying) smart phone (track the user for FREE says the oily salesperson buying your information).  So why in all that time they can’t choose some smooth jazz or something soothing while you’re being told for the forty-fifth time ‘We apologize for the wait.’ Or worse “Your business is important to us.”  (yeah, yeah, I’ll sit on THAT and wait to grow a fungus.  If it’s important, hire some kid who might want to work.  Didn’t say it would be easy.”  Some of the crap they play on those wait on call lines is obscene (my opinion), or has terrible lyrics or the singer (as such) is someone’s cousin who got lucky (as did the record producer).

Enough crabbiness for today I believe.

Blogging Insight NF 10-26-2022 #58

https://saltedcaramel670.wordpress.com/2022/10/24/blogging/

I believe this guy is real opinionated in his life.  One of those who rushes about telling others how they are wrong, but never listening to reasons why he might be himself.

Of course I take this snippet out of context, and maybe the whole quote has a pearl or two that the swine haven’t gobbled down.

Blogging IS whatever we want it to be.  Therefore folly is the nay-sayer’s venue.  They say if you put lipstick on a pig, it’s still a pig; and if you try to hold a conversation with our portly friend, you look like a fool and it only annoys the pig.

What Do You See? 10-24-2022

https://lifeafter50forwomen.com/2022/10/24/what-do-you-see-13/

I swear I tell the truth
I tell it even better with some vermouth
Gin and lime
Are mighty fine
It adds some color to the most outrageous untruth!

Of course there is a price to pay
People stop believing what you say
When gin soaked sodden you have become
Honey isn’t home, but you’re not glum
When that inebriated so early in the day.

All is well, you don’t care
As long as someone is willing to share
The lovely tang of gin and vermouth
This drunken sot is never ever uncouth
And that is the truth, well I as I said, I solemnly swear!

Telling the Honest Truth 10-26-2022

https://pensitivity101.wordpress.com/2022/10/25/truthful-tuesday-25th-october/

My question this week is

Would you like to be a child growing up in today’s world?

Succinctly put, oh hell to the no.  The past is rose colored perhaps, we have faulty memories of it and we remember some times fondly for “the good old days’.  In my opinion, today’s younger generation are lacking so much, yet they have so much more than we did.

Technology has taken over the world, most young folks can’t make change, write (cursive), are bored with history and to me?  That’s dangerous.  My ‘time’ was nothing really special, but we had hope.  Hope is the greatest thing I think we lack right now.  And I’d suspect a huge part of the population can’t even describe it.

As the world spins down, what would I do but be another burden on society with so many problems it’s hard to keep track.   No.  I’ll stay in my past thanks all the same.

FPQ #187 10-26-2022

https://fivedotoh.com/2022/10/26/fandangos-provocative-question-187/

FPQ

Have you ever made a decision on a whim that turned out to change your life? If so, what was that life-changing decision? Can you imagine what your life would be like if you hadn’t made that decision?

I am the self proclaimed Queen of bad decisions.  The worst was never sticking to it and finishing college.  I often wonder how different my life would have been had I had the wisdom to know how important that piece of paper is.  Useless by itself, it still opens a lot of doors.  It takes maturity to make that kind of commitment though, and maturity isn’t my strongest attribute.

SYW – Di Style! 10-24-2022

https://pensitivity101.wordpress.com/2022/10/24/share-your-world-24th-october/

Here are my questions this week:

1.  How organized are you? Do you plan ahead, take things as they come, or does it depend on the circumstances?  A bit of both.  Lately though organization is largely out the window.

2.  How many Christmas presents have you bought already?  None.  Who would I shop for?  I have more than enough ‘stuff’ already and since my favorite part of the holidays is food, it’s going to be a very lean year.  Oh, wait.  Ziggy has two boxes of meaty type biscuits, an early present.

3.  Do you prefer a family gathering for special occasions, or just you and your significant other?  I prefer a family gathering.  But we don’t always get what we want, do we?  Circumstances dictate that I celebrate solo.

4.  How many words do you think your pet understands?  He has a very extensive vocabulary (about a two year old level, I’d say).  He shocks me with the words he knows.

Please share a gratitude meme for your readers.

The theme today is weather.  Words are thunder, storm and floods.

It’s just thunder said the cat to her kittens.  They still shook and obviously didn’t believe her.  Priscilla, the most adventurous one said “But it’s SO LOUD and SO BIG”

The mistress will take care of us.  Nobody drowning in floods today!  It’s just a storm.  Little did the kitty and her family know that Hurricane Katrina was the storm.  They were lucky to have people who watched out for their pets and didn’t leave them behind, like a few.  Priscilla, with a cat with the cream look upon her face, said “See?  I TOLD you storms are bad.  Mama Cat kept her own council because on this occasion her daughter was right.

I’m Here..10-23-2022

I have decided to start blogging again.  It will be mostly prompts and thanks to Di who has filled my shoes more than adequately!  I still have a lot of fatigue and the issues with my digestive system are fairly bad.  So, there you have it.   I’m trying not to flake out on something that has become of vital importance – i.e. blogging and interacting with this great community.   You all were there when my own family couldn’t be bothered.  I can’t say how much I appreciate that!

Sunday Poser – 10-23-2022 Relaxing

What are things that you enjoy the most when at home?

What about you; what thing that you do at home which gives you pleasure and satisfaction?

Sadje writes: “Please share your thoughts in the comments section or you can write your own post and link it to this one so that I can find it.”
********************************

  • Things that give me pleasure and satisfaction are playing/hanging out with Ziggy.  He is my primary source of joy right now.
  • Blogging is another thing that lifts my spirits and is very enjoyable – more than I gave it credit for.
  • Adult coloring.  A woman from my church brought me the most beautifully bound book of pictures, which are on good quality paper and can be removed and framed if one likes.
  • Puzzling (jigsaw puzzles), word puzzle books – like crosswords and other mind sharpening skills.
  • I love to cook, however at this point I don’t.  Special diet which is not to be trifled with.
  • Reading, although I do a lot less of that.  Haven’t had the interest and even Stephen King fails to keep my interest for very long (one of my favorite authors when he writes ‘outside his comfort zone – fairy tales, pulp fiction and more’ are magnificent.
  • I am trying very hard to be in a more positive frame of mind too.  Finding joy in the turning colors of leaves for example.  Trying to be more kind and less judgmental towards people I know are only trying to help.
  • I fail woefully at this last part and woe betide anyone approaching me in the last couple of weeks.  The last to try got handed her head on a virtual platter.
  • Positive things are the fun Halloween decorations I put up before getting sick again; and I have a few for Thanksgiving as well.
  • Thanks to Sadje for hosting this fun little exercise each week.  It means a lot!

Sunday Poser # 10-16-2022

https://lifeafter50forwomen.com/2022/10/16/sunday-poser-102/

What are your thoughts on this matter; What is more important, money or health?
*************************

Tough one, but in my point of view right now – how about a little bit rich and healthy ‘enough’.  If you have the wealth, sadly, in America anyway, you can BUY decent health care.    Without decent health care, just don’t get gravely ill.  If you don’t die, you’ll go bankrupt trying to keep up with the endless costs.   Do I sound a little bitter?  Well I am.

SONG LYRIC SUNDAY 10-16-2022

October 23, 2022 – A song that reminds you of yourself

Due to unforeseen circumstances, like a certain huge corporation, this post was FUBR’d.  I’m going to attempt to fix it.

In the interest of time, I chose “Lady” by Stxy, supergroup from the 70s who is still rockin’ the mike via tribute bands.  For more info, click this link

Crashing and Going Mad With It 10-15-2022

I dropped Di a line to let her know I was without a computer.  I ought to have stayed off the %$#!@ thing when I saw what Google had made of their site, another “improvement’ which (IMO) is useless and really stupid unless you’re a tweenager.   Maybe that’s their target market now.  I don’t know, don’t much care.

And I had/have some acne scarred piece of 💩 trolling or spamming or whatever those f*ckers do to get off.  It was a little much.  I almost got sucked into Edge, which I must say is riddled with bugs and errors, loads like your grandmother’s elder poodle (about as fast).  I just said no (except for changing the email I was using) and got the hell out of Dodge.

I have patched together a sort of conglomeration of Google and Outlook (the email) and so far so good.   So I WILL be posting if my blood pressure stops redlining in the near future.

There will be a gripe/crab/TMP about this whole adventure coming soon.  Tomorrow I play catch up.

I want to thank Di for being such a great friend and sounding board because for a few moments there I was going quite mad.  That woman with the revolver who shoots her computer?   Has the right idea.

ALL MY LIFE’S A CIRCLE (APOLOGIES TO THE LATE HARRY CHAPIN) 10-12-2022

No HIPPA violations or IRL persons (besides myself) are used in this post. Because yes, big brother IS watching,

WordPress is working on my last freaking nerve.    They insist on new things every day, things which I didn’t ask for and don’t want.  No answers given of course, just those ubiquitous “we’ll respond in 24-48 hours”.  Uh huh.  And I’m gonna squat on that until it grows a fungus!

I wanted to give a heads up because the thing that is being messed with current is the comment.   I read the comments, all of them, providing I’m feeling well.  Yet, in their lack-wit of wisdom, WP insists on notifying me of every single comment that comes down the pike.   So I turned everything off.  If you can’t comment, it’s me being truculent about another spanner in the WP wheel.  I’ll turn them back on if indeed no one at all can comment, but all the emails with “New Comment” are going in my spam folder.  Grr.

To explain the title of this post, which isn’t arbitrary, I went to the doctors yesterday (one of four now 🙄    I was congratulated on my success in gaining weight (30 pounds so far.  I’m NOT best pleased, even though I didn’t like HOW I lost the weight to begin with).

This young doctor (I have clothes older than he is) was there to answer my “what now?” question.   And wouldn’t you know?  He pulled that old “diabetes and fatty liver disease are caused by ‘excessive weight which is only cured through rigorous diet and exercise.”    All right then buddy, either it is good I have more weight or it isn’t.  Pick a side.   I listed all the reasons that currently I’m not out trying to run a 5K.  Or cycle up and down the canyons near here (I mostly still can’t stand without support.  Riding a bike might be child’s play, but it’s waaayyy beyond my skill set these days)

My ‘bad’ knee creaks and groans more than an 80 year with chronic constipation.  It fails when I’m relying on it.  It hurts.  I’m not deluding myself that I can afford the surgery any way and the nightmare of the knee I have had replaced still haunts me.

Some asshat without a clue and not in search of one neither, suggested I ‘walk more’.  Okay.  YOU walk with that kind of pain in YOUR leg and then we’ll talk.  Until then?  Shaddup.  You’re talking out of your ass.

I also advised my fuzz nutted doctor that I’ve done literally every diet on the market at some point or other.  I fail each time and am aware that the mental problems around my relationship with food is the culprit.  They remain unresolved.  And yet apparently I’m supposed to walk some tightrope eating ‘healthy’ while not gaining any weight while being rendered virtually immobile.   Aw phooey.😖

So I was upset enough (apparently) to notice a ‘circle’  in my life and that is that my ‘finely tuned to every mood’ wonked out old body does NOT like stress.  The body will make me pay.

RATHER GRAPHIC AND DISGUSTINGLY GROSS BIT IF YOU DON’T WANT TO READ IT’S COOL.

I couldn’t eat last night because the sight and smell of what I’d prepared to eat made me upchuck.  Without warning, I was fine until I saw and smelt the salad I was going to have. 🤢  Same exact thing happened again this morning without warning.  One look at my eggs & taters, and *ulp* 🤢🤮   To add embarrassment to insult (or maybe it was a blessing in disguise) I barfed all over the stuff in my ‘den’.  I was in the process of trying to mop it up when my cleaners showed up and took care of it.  So I’m back to the cycle. The circle.  Hopefully it’s NOT for life though.  Dang.

Glucerna ™ is my meal choice today with some chicken broth later and maybe a few noodles.  There will be a barf bag in attendance.  So now you know why “all my life is a circle”….this R$#*&🤬 disease or condition or whatever fucked up label they’re using this week is for the milder in temperament and far calmer person than I’ll ever be.

Anyway, I’ll still be keeping up with my blogging one way or another.   It may be brief though.  Which will give some of my followers a soupcon of relief!

Since I’m not a fan of horror, my scope of experience in it is rather limited.  I stopped watching horror when I was roughly 17, and although I have seen a horror film, it’s usually unwillingly.    But to choose the worst one?  Ain’t they ALL bad?  I’m not talking suspense or psychological thriller (like Sixth Sense or Stir of Echoes and others like them)  and I don’t mind a good action movie now and then (Expendables – all the sequels were great, trying to figure out who the former actors ARE and learning stuff like Dolph Ingram (I think that’s his name) has a Master’s Degree in Chemistry or one of the scientific choices.  He looks really dumb too.  Shows what mistakes can be made taking someone at face value.  )

Okay enough dawdling because honestly I find them ALL ‘worst’ simply because we live in the times of simple minds and some asshole is going to see the horror film and go out and try to copy the behavior.

Okay got one.  I don’t care for the Joker (yeah, gasps of amazement all around – Jack Nicholson did it first (in the movie version) and did it better IMO.  The new guy (no I do not know what actor that is, and I seriously don’t care, but he truly looks psychotic ((which might be the point).   And I don’t consider ‘Batman’ and all the freakin’ sequels plus movie schlock and all that mess to be horror.   But the Joker/Harley Quinn duo ARE the stuff of horror and nightmares IMO.

I enjoyed the first movie with among others Will Smith and thought “Wow!” when the schlock-quel came out.  They’ve got another slightly scary movie on a theme and I was quite elated.  I watched about 5 minutes (far too long) and knew it deserved it’s place in the Rotten Tomatoes Gallery as “The Worst Horror (as such) film ever made.”   I seriously don’t give two  💩💩 about watching the sequel to the original film now.  What a maroon (as Bugs Bunny would have said).  Mel Blanc’s little joke at calling folks a moron without getting the black list censor police all over his butt for ‘trash talk”.

Harley standing on a giant clamshell, surrounded by the other characters, in a spoof of Sandro Botticelli's The Birth of Venus.

As a former blonde myself, this character epitomizes every cliché ever thought up about the ‘dumb blonde’.  Supposed to be a psychologist or psychiatrist, but she appears to be dumb as a rock.  I’m thinking she got a pass and got to graduate because she was very willing to perform ‘extracurricular activities’ with someone else who was influenceable.

Sandman’s 30 Days of Horror Films Day 11 10-11-2022

Okay.  I’m not sure the film I’m thinking of constitutes ‘horror’, it’s more suspense, but the subject matter is horrifying.  And it had the outright suck-i-est ending I’ve ever seen in a film then or since.  I seriously avoid Sean Penn because he directed or produced this piece of schlock.

“The Pledge” (not to be confused with “Pledge” which is some other film, which oddly looks as if it IS horror)

SPOILER ALERT!   They never say who the killer was/is.  Someone else who watched it speculated that it was another character (well DOH), but even if it was revealed, it’s not CLEAR.   Maybe I’m just too picky, but I’d leave this one alone.    Yuck.   🤢🤮💀

Lovers And More

Come my love and walk with me
In the ancient woods, ‘neath the wild old trees
It may be Spring where we start
But Winter comes fast, and cold seeps into hearts
Not for you nor for I though.

No, we’ve been blessed in this long life
Me as your husband, you as my wife
As we sail the vast oceans of life experiences
It seems it all ends just when it commences
Upon an unseen and foreign plateau.

Still we have each other to pass all this time with
I remember our youth, the dances and first kiss
Now when the frost nips at my bones
I don’t feel the pain, because you are my home.
As loving and breathing together we go.

All aren’t as lucky as we to have found each other
We know true love, and slings and arrows don’t bother
In the mist at the end of this path, long journey, that went by so fast
Now we’ll know all the secrets from now to the past
As we walk together into that place where we finally can know.

The meaning of life, the mysteries and splendor
But the greatest jewel remains and I say it with candor
You by my side, our life and our love
I have always known it comes from above
Here comes the adventure, unknown but thrilling, as into that mist we go.

Five Space Aliens Walk Into A Bar. You’d think they’d look where they were going…

https://saltedcaramel670.wordpress.com/2022/10/11/5-things-on-an-imaginary-planet

Tanya asks us today:

5 things on an imaginary planet

Imagine that a new planet has been discovered. What 5 features would you like it to have?

whew.

Brave question because most folks know I have quite an imagination, sometimes it’s pretty dark too.  My list (this is imaginary, so just let it go please.

  1. All dumb-asses including politicians (of any flavor), most law makers alive today, the ultra politically correct and cretins like them are required to get smarter/wiser or leave.  That may sound harsh, but this planet is the ‘New Eden” – unspoiled and fresh.  A new start for humans. Judgment comes from a cast of thousands – all the great minds and sterling characters throughout history, who understood/understand the meaning of common sense and service to others.  I suspect those venerable people are spinning in their tombs, graves and urns at how things have turned out.
  2. Respect for nature and green spaces is mandatory.  Sentence is to be taken to the Harpy tree.  Ugly way to go too.   Get rid of the damned developers and over population.  Take those miscreants who break this law and hunt THEM for a change of pace. (I’m not judging those who enjoy having a large family, but please.  Some good things come at a big cost).   A yearly open season on dumb asses (which might include me in some circles) is held once a year, with the most inane and stupidest being the target.
  3. Seymore comes from that planet  (if that’s out of your frame of reference, see “Little Shop of Horrors” the version with Steve Martin.  Seymore is very very well fed.

Seymore. Loves gore.

4.  You can actually get worth for your money, which is replenish able, as it holds no real value and folks are happy to share as they did in old times.   Barter.  Health care is automatic, regardless of circumstances.  Insurance purveyors are unheard of.  It’s considered rude to make money off another’s misery.

5.  And because I know my list isn’t what Tanya had in mind when she posed the question – I’ll throw in some pink elephants, purple dolphins, and a unicorn or two just for interest.   Stay out of the Enchanted Forest too.  The little people (not the stature challenged, the ones of fairy tales ect.) don’t like visitors.  And the Harpies?  They’re slowly integrating themselves into our reality.  I met one just today.  Scary old bird too.

Welcome to MY World!🌎🌍🌏    😂😅🤣😆

TRUTHFUL TUESDAY 10-11-2022

Welcome to “Truthful Tuesday” where one question will be asked and the responder is to answer truthfully about their opinion.

Today’s question:

How polite do you find it to ignore the doorbell and/or the phone?   Especially if you’ve just begun to eat dinner or want to just veg out all by your lonesome?  Why do we feel obligated to do either thing in the first place?   One of my greatest peeves is the idea that I ought to be tied to the %$#& phone 24/7.     Your honest thoughts?
