Hey. I had java installation problem too, but in Win10 system. When I was installing release freecol-git-20220131-installer.exe it was having problem with indicating that requires 1.9 or later version of Java platform, and installation program was letting me go to the official side of java. But when I had downloaded and had installed last version of Java platform for Win from official site after, it was indicating suchlike problem and said that I had 1.8.0.31 version only. download java jdk19 in zip after, change files of java don't let it work.
After playing with the tambourine, google and Setting the path and variables I had installed game, had started main menu fortunately, but couldn't start to play because it hasn’t receive connection with server and game system let me open log file. When second time try to start, then indicate that the server has started already at the specified port, and it doesn’t start to play too.
0.11.6 is working ok, but in release git-20220131 is not.
Why make installation file which don't work with actual version of java and need addition magic for installation? How have solved problem with start playing in the last release? Wanna test play the released new version on win10. Thx in advance
Ajunta,
Java may be downloaded from Oracle at https://www.oracle.com/java/technologies/downloads/ for Java 17 or https://www.oracle.com/java/technologies/downloads/#java11 for Java 11. Either should work to run FreeCol.
Oracle has installers for the following operating systems:
Using Java 9 may not work simply because it's not available for download.
If you've installed a higher version of Java and it's not working, that's beyond our ability to support and you'll have to contact Oracle about updating your Java version.
After Java 17 installation have same situation.
0.11.6 is working ok, but release git-20220131 is not.
Can enter and manipulate in main menu, but can't start new game.
Can't establish connection with server.
Can you attach the Freecol.log file that is found in your Documents/freecol/ directory?
log in attachment
Thanks. Hopefully @mpope can help from here.
The log file says:
and it is a timeout exception, so I suspect a networking/firewall problem on your machine.
Thx. Had renewed antivirus Avast and Ok.
Thanks for the update. Closing/not-a-freecol-bug.
