Huh. Yesterday I seem to have been a dime magnet, because I found at least three.

I wonder what it means...

ARghhh!!!
Irritating incident at the SAQ.

Nothing serious, but more evidence of the poisonous attitude that some individuals have in this province. >:-(

Capricornucopia 2013
It's been a while, eh?

This is long, long overdue - but I do want to post it before the end of the year. Our theme this time was to take established titles and write something completely different - for example, "Jaws" as a feud between rival dentists. As always, it was monumentally silly.

So, at long last, here's my humble offering from this past year's Capricornucopia:

THE GREAT ESCAPECollapse )

Terrible news
I'm horrified to hear of the Boston Marathon bombing.

I hope everyone I know is safe - glad to see a few posts so far.

Capricornucopia 2012: Goatpocalypse Now!
So! In keeping with tradition, this year the usual suspects again hosted a joint birthday party in a rented auditorium, and got our poor invitees to act out plays that we had written specifically for the occasion.

Since this year supposedly represents the end of a cycle of the Mayan calendar, and has been interpreted as marking The End Of The World, we couldn't help but choose that as our theme. So each of us wrote a play in which the world ends in a different fashion:

  • Frank opened the festivities with a sendup of the movie "2012". (With special effects - there was confetti everywhere!!!)

  • miseri continued with a religious End-of-Days premise.

  • mousme opened after the intermission with goat zombies! Aaaahhh!!!

I was put in charge of biological disasters. As always, the mere text cannot convey the brilliance of the actors' performances. Also, there are a few jokes that only locals will get. Still, I hope it will amuse...

So, without further ado, I present my own modest contribution to our annual festival of monumental silliness:

Planet of the Goats

First post in a while, and I'm afraid it's a what-the-hell-is-wrong-with-people kind of post:

Behind a cut in case you'd rather skip the rage-inducingness of it allCollapse )

I mean... seriously? Seriously? What the hell is wrong with these people?

And they're off!

I will be spending far too much time tracking all this in the next six weeks, in spite of myself. :-P

...and here's another one:

Again, I think it's great. In a horrifying O-my-God-my-childhood sort of way.

Is this a new trend or something - the fake movie trailer thing? I know I've seen many before, but over the past few days the concentration of them seems to be increasing substantially.

A needed tool for the coming Zombocalypse
From nagaina_ryuuoh, for fearsclave and others:

That's Not Your Mommy Any More: A Zombie Tale.

"In the ongoing effort to warn an unprepared world of the rising danger from zombie attacks, one vulnerable group has been left out — small children. That's Not Your Mommy Anymore offers social workers, counselors, and educators a helpful new tool to communicate with hard-to-reach at-risk youth."

Why didn't we have this when **I** was a kid?

Capricornucopia Seven: Goooaaats iiiiiinnnnn SPPPAAAAAACCEEE!!!
As mousme noted in a recent entry, we held Capricornucopia last weekend (and no, I don't care that the New York Times or whoever says that we're all actually Sagitarians). We being myself, mousme, miseri, and tcaptain. In other words, the usual suspects.

For those who aren't familiar with it, Capricornucopia is our annual joint birthday party. Each year, we rent a venue and throw a potluck event. Beforehand we also each write a play (or an act of a play, if we've decided to have a single play instead). Then, as the evening's entertainment, we have our guests get up on stage and act them out.

Our theme this year was science-fiction. We each picked one well-known sci-fi show from TV (or pseudo sci-fi, depending on your point of view, I guess), and wrote a short play based on that show (though references to other shows somehow managed to, ah, slip in there somehow in just about every case). My effort appears below the cut... fourteen-odd pages of monumental silliness, goats (Capricorn, you see), and the occasional excruciating pun - just like every year.

I'm afraid it has a few more in-jokes than usual: only a few people will recognize Action Woman, or notice that some of the lines are lifted directly from Captain Fang from shenlo's Yet Another Fantasy Gamer Comic. It also helps to know something about the shows in question (not to mention the fandoms thereof). However, I hope it's reasonably entertaining in spite of all that. Everyone seemed to have a good time, which is the important thing.

As always, I'm afraid that mere text cannot capture the brilliance of the actual performances.

It's like chapters of the DaVinci Code, only in spaceCollapse )

So is Hestia/Vesta the appropriate divinity to whom to address prayers along the lines of "Please, stop letting stuff in and around my home fall apart"?

Hee!
I have recently been pointed to a fantastic webcomic site.

I think this one was especially tailor-made for nagaina_ryuuoh. ^_^

ETA: And I'm afraid that this one is especially for me...
