Evolving Styles
Sonic Blast has had an ever continuing alteration of its design, and will probably have more in the future. You can never tell what will change six months down the line. The designs of Sonic Blast are made by Metallix. Metallix is always trying to come up with new styles, many times it just hits him when he's not even trying. Come take a look at what this site used to look like.

v1.0 April-October 2006 - This was the very first version of Sonic Blast. I started working on this forum in March 2006. I wanted to make a Sonic forum for some time at this point and I looked around at many fan-made Sonic forums to notice one major flaw, the appearance. Most Sonic forums were half-assed with either eye searing colors or just plain standard themes. I had dabbled in skins before, but really had no experience with most of my forums using pre-made skins.

v 2.0 November 2006-November 2007 - This was the second version of Sonic Blast. The first skin was decent, but it took me many months to perfect and even then it kept evolving to become even better looking. This one refines the design even further, looking more sleek and professional.

v 3.0 December 2007-June 2017 - This was the third skin we had that was tweaked throughout the years but this image represents what it looked like for most of those years. Small tweaks here and there but the skin largely remained the same.

It's cool how the design has always been pretty much the same but has evolved and gotten better over time. The old designs didn't look bad but compared to now they aren't nearly as good.

Curiosity got me a little and I was looking back a little more at this history and just saw the screenshots! They look exciting! You definitely kept a similar aesthetic over the last 15 years or so! Also, very curious about this, (And this is the reason for this post), what exactly was the Arcade section from the middle photo? That sounds like a wicked cool idea, and perhaps a hard one to fathom the execution of in a 2007 era timeframe!

Hmmm I believe that was a section of the site that had playable flash games. I loaded them up with mostly Sonic flash games which, as you can imagine, weren't as good as official Sonic games. Can't remember much about it though. We also had an RPG at one point where you chose your character and leveled them up by battling badniks. Higher levels allowed you to have a higher chance to win against stronger badniks and eventually you fought bosses. It was a basic turn based game that used random math to determine how much damage your attack would do.

Those features, even the basic flash games, must have been a, pardon the pun or not here, BLAST to play though! Just tying in the forum experience with some interactive games to casually jump in and out of was probably a great addition! How long did the RP game last? I would have loved to try my hand at that!

Yeah the RP was my favorite thing ever but unfortunately didn't support Zetaboards so when we switched from Invisionfree it never came back. Sad It took me probably an hour to level up enough to beat the last boss.

Oh heavens! That sounds like some dedicated RPG grinding right there! I wish there was a way to bring that back to life on this forum, but I'd guess the current provider also would struggle to implement such a system, not to mention having to recraft it I'm sure after all these years! Unamused

Really cool to see it grow through the year!
