Ways anxiety is silly, number whatever
More for the list of things I have unjustifiably strong feelings about
How to de-escalate conflict/ how to deal with people who don’t trust you/ how to deal with people who are determined to go against whatever you say just to be contrary.
I don’t really have a context for this but I do have opinions.
Maybe this is to some degree based on fictional things? IDK.
Was that technically a LAN party?
There were multiple computers in one room, communicating with each other for the purpose of playing a game? Is that close enough? I’m not really clear on the specifics. It was fun, and once again I’m too tired to make a proper post.
I also spent a while talking to someone about virtual reality technology, that was interesting.
In other news, I very rarely see candid photos of myself and they’re kind of fascinating.
Sparkly gave me a present!
It’s a necklace from this Etsy shop.
My favorite thing about presents is finding out what reminds em of me. Floral, natural things. Antique-y things. <3
Ok maybe loud noises do still bother me
This post brought to you by Numbers Guy, the new smoke detector in the kitchen, and the broiler drawer under the oven.
Tired
Today I did All The Laundry and then went to a party. It was fun, and my house is full of nice clean-smelling neatly folded clothes, but I’m also very tired. Sparkly was very helpful though. Ey had a fit of organized-ness and neatened up the closet as well as putting everything away.
Not an official resolution but
I have a pretty big list of “want to read” books on Goodreads, and I’d like to get through some more of them this year. I just got two from the library: Akata Witch by Nnedi Okorafor and Marcelo in the Real World by Fransisco Stork.
I’m not sure how to describe Akata Witch yet, but it’s very… distinctive? Whatever it is, it does it very emphatically. My copy has endorsements from Diana Wynne Jones and Ursula Le Guin, which is definitely a good way to get me to read a book if I hadn’t already decided to read this one, and I guess it is a bit Diana Wynne Jones-ish in tone.
Re-listening to Hamilton
“The Room Where it Happens” is still the best thing in the world, and “One Last Time” is giving me a greater appreciation of Christopher Jackson’s voice (he’s the one who plays Washington.)
Also it really does take me multiple listens to actually process/recognize/comprehend lyrics, especially rap. It’s not like I actually can’t hear them, unlike my usual experience of auditory processing problems, but there isn’t enough time for the meaning to sink in. So I’m having a lot of “oh, that’s a pun” and “oh, that rhymes too” and “oh, that’s what he was talking about” moments.
Not Brr
The heat is fixed. “Fixed.” IDK. At least it’s warm now.
(And we also have a new smoke detector.)
The heat in the stairwell doesn’t seem to be on, though, which is slightly weird?
But it’s warm. For the first time this winter. Big cat has been sunning himself in front of various radiators all day in celebration.
