Panel 2 was written for us lawyers.....
I’m unable to go to any of the Cons around here this year because our family trips were all scheduled at the same times. Next year i’m Blocking those dates off in January so I’ll be able to attend.
What was Panel 2 about?
Oh hey, I got caught in the middle of a convoy of Miatas last Sunday. Some really nice ones with special paint jobs. My dirty beat up 11 year old Rav 4 did not fit in well so I pulled over to let the back half rejoin the front half.
Of course I sent your best. I hung out for a while chatting Henbe's friend who had a new Canon- cheaper, lighter, and more functions that the one I bought just 5 years ago.
as to cons, don't know what I'll do next year. I enjoyed the people and the experience of AC, but the hotel alone was a thousand bucks. A THOUSAND FREAKING BUCKS FOR A FURRY CON HOTEL!!!!!!! The room (we were on the floor with the con committee.) was 200$/night. Parking was 29$/night. There were two taxes on the room, one on the parking. Spent another 150-200$at hotel restaurants and the bar. Throw in another 150$ in tips, 25$ in cab rides, and another couple hundred in other restaurants, and it adds up. The trip was one tank of gas at 40$, times 2 is 80$. Then drop a couple hundred at the casino. and add 300 or thereabouts in registration fees, and you've got a decent piece of change. Sharing costs with friends makes it a lot more affordable.
That is a serious piece of change for the hotel. I think that if I ever go to that one I’ll bring the RV and commute to the con in the Yaris I tow behind it. Gas will cost a couple hundred but it is so much cheaper in the States that it will feel like a bargain.
The only big con left around here is Fural Equinox in Toronto in March. Montreal cancelled its con and Ottawa’s is fairly small. There is a camping con up in Algonquin Park the last week of August every year, Camp Feral, that is supposed to be a lot of fun.
Allegedly a group of furs are renting a rail car for 2020.....Furpile on the Orient Express?
