Collar 1 -- Fallen
Title can't be empty.

Sometimes, a bit of artwork that I see will cause a character who is not actually in that picture to come to me to explain how he came to know the subject of the picture. This story stems from such a case. Originally to be called "The Pup on the Bus," the teller of this tale came to show me that the focus was not about the bus at all, and only partially about the pup. There may be more to this tale, in which case I'm sure that Graham will tell me. Until then, we'll have to hope that you are satisfied with the tale as told. All I know, at this point, is that the next morning broke fair, with no rain in sight.
This tale belonged to my patrons for some little time before I offered it here; they also have access to patron-only works, including my last two NaNoWriMo novels and the chapters of a novel-in-progress, a time-travel tale called Watch Dogs. If you enjoy my work, please consider leaving a tip (see icon at the end of the story); if you'd like to consider becoming a patron and having access to exclusive works, click here to learn more about my Patreon. I do thank you so very much.

"His face had lifted enough for me to see that rain wasn't all that had damped his ash-gray fur; the streaks of tears showed plainly down his muzzle from eyes still tightly closed."
1. When Fletcher cried, did his tears specifically streak down:
A: The bridge of his muzzle and off the tip of his nose as he hung his head
or
B: The side of his muzzle diagonally and off his lower jaw and chin
2. Exactly how would Fletcher react and what would he say to me if I hugged him, rubbed his back and licked those tears streaking down his muzzle with my tongue during the scene where he cried? Because every time I read that, I fantasize licking every last tear from Fletcher's muzzle.
3. Dumb question but on a scale from 1 to 10 with 10 being the saltiest, how salty would Fletcher's tears taste on my tongue if I licked them directly from his muzzle?
4. On a scale from 1 to 10 with 1 being freezing cold and 10 being scalding hot, how warm were those tears streaking down Fletcher's muzzle?
I know these questions sound weird but please reply back!
The compassion shown in this story is nothing short of a virtue. I have always thought that your stories have a lot of you (the person as well as the author) in them, and this goes to show the amazing man you are.
Outstanding story, Tris. I would like to know if there is more to it.
May I know what piece of art inspired it?
this story is believe it or not helping
Wow is all I have to say. Very touching and compassionate. Fletcher conveyed so much, without saying much at all. And the priest was a terrific balance to all that Fletcher is going through. Simple caring and tenderness goes far, and yet it is done so infrequently and it is needed so much. Beautiful story. Looking forward to reading the rest and seeing how Fletcher develops.
Very well written. Many Kudo's to you Black Wolf.
As to finding some way to make the story public... my hope is to revise it entirely and create it as an ebook. My goal is to produce it myself, asking for only a modest amount. If I succeed in this, I'll make the announcement here, in this folder and/or a journal entry. Thank you for your interest, and I'll see what I can do to make it happen soon.
