Calvin Redding

Calvin Redding is one of the characters in my story series Legacy of the Veiled Stars. His family had fought in the Banished Wars before him, and Calvin was being trained as a soldier. His sharpshooting skills were exceptional which earned him to undergo special, secretive operations that would quell the threats that their ancient enemies, the Velmarians, would come up with.
After several "accidents" destroyed the Velmarian's capability to continue their interstellar flights, Calvin learned that he had no taste for active combat. He desired to retire from combat activities while their was no threat. However, his reputation as a sharpshooter spread around the top officials of the Tactical Alliance of Intergalactic Life (TAIL) and he was quickly spotted by the young Apex, Yukiomaru Arekusanda and assimilated into his crew.
Calvin was not excited to be reassigned to an active position, but he did not object. When his missions led to the discovery of a hostile alien parasite, a galactic threat, he took up the responsibility to put an end to the threat. Calvin suffered near-fatal injuries more than once in the line of defense of his home world, but his efficiency in soloing missions had him as an ideal soldier to go behind the lines to put an end to threats early.
Throughout the war, Calvin had an impressive track of success in all his battles. He has been credited to turning the tide of battles, and saving his own squad mates on several occasions. All rather impressive considering his ability to communicate is limited due to the fact that he is mute.
His injuries just might cause for Calvin to be incapable of continuing the fight to the end though.
