Woo! 2 pages in one month! Been over a year since I've managed that, I think. This comic honestly should have been out a week or more ago. None of these shots were particularly difficult. Most render in under 45 minutes. Most the poses reused sculpts with the same blend injection technique I've had for a while now. There was some fiddling with the lines, indecision about the camera angles ( 6 to 8 versions per panel even). Somehow I've just been plain sluggish since coming back from FWA. I seem to be getting back on track now, but I mostly blame the particulars of this page. It's not exactly a challenging one (even if I still wasn't able to get that first panel the way I wanted it). The upcoming pages should be more interesting for me to work on. But, they're also liable to take longer. There are more vacations and other events that may interrupt them. My life continues to shed time available for the things I want to do. No matter, I just gotta hold on.
The lines here were originally planned for 3 panels (all wide shots). I typically try to ensure lines and crowds are flexible enough to handle changes in page plans but for this one I devised a ridged move forward schedule (ie. how much the members of the lines move forward per shot). The default move forward takes over where none is defined but was not producing the results I wanted for the last 3 panels and too many Lapsa were shifting left and right (defined by axis-dependent pseudo-random jitter within a range which can also be shot specific or a default). So, I had to make some tweaks. I also found some oddities of the import resulted in an always-visible shiny-black muscle shirt on two walking poses. One was very visible in the shots (now just a red trunks and muscle shirt on a blonde Lapsa). It actually looked quite good when the poses actually called for muscle shirts; I was temped to keep it. However, it caused clipping and other issues on those poses that used other outfits (as it wasn't being hidden.) The problem was that it somehow didn't get its shader assignment but I have no idea how that defaulted to the shiny black latex look.
