How to use these practices:
Transformation mudras can be practiced before meditation to prepare the mind, or as a quick way to bring about heightened awareness when needed. These practices raise energy to the head and circulate it back down into the body through the alimentary canal. Powerful, forceful techniques they are, so proceed modestly. You'll know if you have gone to far, or if you haven't done enough to perceive a shift.
These subtle practices are presented here as a sequence where each technique flows into and informs the next. However, it isn't necessary to do the entire sequence every time. Over a period of steady and consistent practice, you will develop a sense of what you need more or less of to bring balance to the energetic body.
To complete the transformation mudra sequence or practice of any individual technique, rest in stillness - meditation, savasana, or both. The return to stillness after techniques which stir up energy and circulate it through different areas of the body is the most important part, the part which builds the sense of self and internal power. Addiction to individual techniques or over practicing techniques in general is a path with more pitfalls than practicing regularly, sincerely, and in moderation. Stillness is a greater challenge to cultivate than excitement, but lays the ground for more powerful and stable expressions of excitement. You can have your cake and eat it too, but first one must learn the art and science of baking.
There are many additional subtle practices which could work with this sequence. If you are looking to explore transformation mudras further, send a private message and we can discuss prescribing one that suits your nature and personal needs.
