It isn’t quite a direct mirror or alternate of our universe; the obvious geological similarities present are to provide a sense of familiarity in the stories set within the world (most of which aren’t published here). The purpose therein is so that when I talk about the Heladian Empire, for instance, I can evoke imagery of the Romans without overtly saying so.

The more I write, the further separated from the real world Asantrea becomes, as it gradually becomes able to stand on its own.

I should also perhaps add that this map is around one-quarter of Asantrea - while there are 5 distinct continents, they are arranged in a Pangea supercontinent. All of this started with the village of Stillwater Cove, where most of my characters live, and sort of snowballed.
