We walked up the few flights of steps, making our way to my door. “I didn't know you had such large cabins." The pup said, perplexed at the strange architecture that surrounded her. “You could say that they're cabins but waaaaay bigger than what you are used to." I responded, using my arms to express what I meant. “I'll give a tour of the city once you're feeling better."

Her tail constantly wagged as we arrived at a red door with a brown nylon welcome mat right below it. The young wolf suddenly yelp as her bare feet came into contact with the material. “You use that to scrub off any dirt before you enter, it keeps everything nice and clean!" I said, unlocking the door before walking inside.

The smell of freshly shampooed carpet immediately hit our noses as the pup scurried passed my feet. “You live here all by yourself? It's huge!"

“Yep I have it all to myself." I said as took off my boots and placed them closed to the door. To be honest, it wasn't really that large nor was it that well furnished with the only thing in the living room was a recliner sitting in front of a 55 inch flat screen. I kept telling myself that I would purchase more stuff so the place look less bland but never had the reason. Adjacent to the living room was the kitchen, it had a fridge, a stove and a dishwasher which I rarely use.

“You know, we have to come up with a Name. How about sayana?" I asked the pup but she quickly shook her head. “No no no!" she shot back.

“Ok, how about drake?" She sticked her tongue out at me this time. “Ew no."

“Geez ok then how about…..luna! Like the moon!" She thought about it for a moment before her tail started to wag slightly. “I like it! It's a pretty name. She said, jumping in place at the name. “Luna it is then."

Day turned into dusk as I turned the bath shower handle to the left, releasing freezing cold water from the faucet. It takes a while for the heat to come through I had to occasionally check the temperature with my hand. “umm Luna? You know how to take a bath?" I asked the wolf who was peer over my back and at the tub, completely transfixed at the large acrylic bowl. “Mother always gives me one in her personal tent, I usually sit and let her scrub me down."

'well shit' I whispered under my breath as Luna began to take off my spare clothes and immediately jumped in the tub. “Err alrighty then, let me just…" Grabbing the axe body soap that was sitting on top of the sink, I gently squeezed its base, letting the dark blue substance pour onto her back. It wasn't very long before the dried blood that covered part of her body was slowly washing away. My hands were working twice as hard since Luna's fur was thick at certain areas, her back for example. “You know, the time will come when you would to learn how to wash yourself right?" I remarked, turning my attention toward her mane.

“Can you teach me how?" She asked before softly hissing as I accidentally touch a open wound. “Sorry about that, needed to clean off the dirt so it won't get infected and I can teach you now." I said, handing luna the bottle. “Just put a little bit on your hand and rub it against your body." copying my actions, Luna used the liquid soap to quickly wash her front while I worked on her back.

5 minutes had passed with Luna drying herself with my towel while I wrapped both her legs with bandages. “feeling better Luna?"  

“Thank you Alex! It doesn't hurt as much anymore now." She yaped, long bushy tail wagging profusely. I didn't any clothes that could fit the small wolf so I told her wait in the bathroom while I go find something in my closet. Luna slowly cocked her head before slowly nodding, not moving a muscle until I was out of sight. As I was rummaging through piles of dirty laundry, a familiar Ding could be heard from the living room along with someone growling. I creeped over to see Luna sitting on my recliner, staring at the flat screen that was quickly being covered by a large green X.

The excitement in the pups voice grew as the screen transitioned to the xbox live dashboard. “Alex! What is this?"

“That right there is a video game console. You can play various games from first person shooters, to horror games." I explained, giving her my old pajamas that I wore when I was 8. “These look like they could fit."

“Can you teach how to play Alex? Pretty pleassse!" Luna begged which made my heart skip a beat; This wolf wanted to be a gamer, I could tell just by looking at her. “Fuck ye-- errr umm, I mean sure! Let's start you off with something easy and fun. Ace combat should do the trick! Go put on your pajamas while make I dinner and get things set up for ya."

“THANK YOU, THANK YOU!" Luna screamed in delight.

Even though this is her first time experiencing human technology, luna was a fast learner. She didn't need much help after I showed her how to work the controls. I looked on from the kitchen, dipping two raw pork chops into seasoned flour. “You're getting a hang of it Luna! Keep it up!" I shouted out but she was completely glued onto the TV, eyes darting from place to place while occasionally looking down at the controller to press the correct key.

She continued this until the smell of fried pork hit her nose, Luna jerked her head in my direction, sniffing the air before rushing over to the kitchen. “Food?" She whimpered. I smiled and handed her a plate that already prepared. I made sure to cut the meat into smaller pieces so she wouldn't choke. Luna grabbed the plate before shuffling over to the small table.

After we were finished eating, Luna jumped back in front of the tv and unpaused her game while I cleaned up. “What was your mom like Luna?"

“She was kind and loving and tough too! She would tell me so many stories about the world and how beautiful it is. She said that once I'm old would leave our tribe and explore everything but…." she stopped playing, letting her plane slam into a Mountain side and getting an mission failure. “M-mother is.....is!" I placed a hand on top of her head and gently scratched it. “Your mom is fine Luna,  you said so yourself. Tomorrow, we'll pay a visit to a old friend and then we can buy you some clothes."

“O-okay!" Luna chirped.

“It's getting late, time for bed little one." This time, the pup let out disappointed sigh and crossed her arms. “But I want to keep playing!" she pouted.

“No buts, we gotta get up bright and early, I'll let you have my bed while I sleep in chair." I responded as I picked her up and carried her to the bedroom. “It's a king size so you'll have plenty of space to move around in." Placing her into the bed and tucking her in, I went over to my dresser and picked out a black tank top and some shorts.

I couldn't remember how long I was awake that night, a couple hours maybe, I'm not really sure. I felt a presence somewhere beside but my groggy mind failed to fully register who it was until her soft voice spoke to me. “A-alex… I had a nightmare and I don't wanna be alone right now." Luna whimpered.

“Alright alright alright, come on." I said, slowly getting up from my seat and walked back to my room. Without a second thought, I collapsed onto the bed with the little pup following suit. “Goodnight Luna…"

“Goodnight da... Alex."
