From across a gulf of space and time beyond human understanding another civilization had taken notice. A terrible cost and a cataclysmic change would soon arrive on Earth. Brought to prevent a tragic slide that these inscrutable observers had all too often seen since their own beginning in a time that the stars themselves have forgotten.
This story begins with the Schwarzkopf family in a small town in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States of America. Learn, as this family will, how all action comes with a cost, and how every choice has consequence. Learn of the terrible upheaval that upends the lives of all. Learn as that upheaval twists members of this tight knit family into new and impossible bodies that resemble fairy tale monsters given life.
A dark tale of the dreadful results on society of first contact with aliens. Aliens, who quickly make it known that they are not pleased with humanity's choices. After painful life shattering change ripples across the world tearing untold numbers from the birthright of their species, the human race is given a choice, and a last chance.
The story has societal change, first contact, aliens, dragons, some transformations, and family bonds. Give it a read if you're looking for an entertaining story!

You are right to suppose that she is different right down to the cellular level! On Earth there is of course an upper limit to the mass of a flying animal due to (among other things) muscle mass required for flight! But...what if there existed creatures that had bones and muscles both stronger and lighter than that of terrestrial animals? Bones stronger than steel yet full of air cavities throughout their honeycombed matrices and with densities a fraction of water? Carbon nanotube muscle fibers? Stupendously energetic central nervous systems? Soaring internal body temperatures fueled by **spoiler** and **spoiler** to power all that colossal size?
Yes indeed, children of the egg are the wonder of a biosphere and world hidden far from human eyes behind veils of space and time. The result of countless years of evolution on a world that would leave H.P. Lovecraft himself screaming in mindless terror at the horrors that pressured the growth of such formidable creatures.
