The Darkness
Still darkness creeps into the heart
Of an empty soul alone
Edges of sharp veins in a hearth
To drive deeper the pain
Voices of songs past sing
Of joy and radiance beyond
Of a life without worry or strife
Where the nesting soul may rest
Timid is the sound of love
To be touched by the hand
Of a warm embrace
Only darkness remains
Where hope had reigned
So to did the mighty fields
Grasslands fitting for the noble
And tainted by the dreaded
Alone is the path of the wondering
Without a guiding light back home
For the fields no longer live
And all that remains are the lost
Inscribed on the stone are words of truth
Speaking of the journey set before the soul
In them is the only wisdom shared
To embrace the darkness
