Love for a She Wolf
Christmas
December had arrived and that meant Christmas was here. While there was snow and cold, the spirit of it and love kept the folks in the castle town warm. Especially since Jenna and Axel made sure all their subjects were able to enjoy this time of the year, from the most wealthy to the poorest farmer. The ruling wolves sent out messengers with food, drink, and other things to make sure those under their rule were well taken care of. And that made Jenna and Axel loved by their subjects even more. And the entire town was decorated for the holiday as well. Most of the people had time off to spend the holiday with their families and loved ones. For Rose, while she didn’t have Dante with her, she knew he was still watching over her from above. The she wolf made sure to visit his grave and give it Christmas Greenery. For Nicholas, while he was aware of the holiday, couldn’t remember any past ones celebrated before coming here due to his memory loss. So the fosky was going to remember this one for certain. And seeing Rose happy made the long-haired male happy. He wondered though if he should give anything to the family and especially her as thanks for all they’ve done for him so far. But the guy didn’t have any money. So he went to Axel about that. “Well I can understand why you would want to,” the lupine said after Nicholas explained the situation. “Well I can help you if you want. Just find whatever it is and I’ll help you get it.”
“Thank you your majesty,” the younger guy replied with thankfulness.
The guy scoped the entire town for anything that could help. But the thing he found that really spoke out was the one for Rose. Sure, he found some other items for the other family members but it was the 18-year-old she wolf Nicholas really wanted to get something nice to make her happy. The guy found the perfect gift and hoped Rose would love it. “Maybe it can be the start of us getting together,” he said softly after leaving the shop a second time with it after telling Axel. The older lupine has he promised to help had given the fosky the money to buy it.
Meanwhile the castle itself was being prepared for the special guests coming. Ephriam wanted to make sure it was especially ready for Isabel who was coming. Even though there would be a few others with her, it was the arctic fox he wanted to make sure had the best time as possible. There was also another good reason for the castle to be straightened up and decorated even more as Trevor was coming to visit but would be arriving a couple of days before she did. That would make something stir in Nicholas’s memory for certain. It was snowing when the uncle came. He was wearing long layers of clothes but had a large sack over his shoulder. He stamped the snow off his boots and was just straightening himself out when the family and Nicholas arrived at the entrance to greet him. “Glad I made it,” the brother of Jenna stated with a grin. His sister hugged him as did his nieces and nephews.
Nicholas however just frowned as he looked at the smiling visitor. Him coming in like that seemed so familiar. The fosky’s eyes went wide with shock as something new came flooding into his memory. In his head, he saw the husky he had seen last year doing the exact same thing as Trevor had. He to had a sack and was stamping his boots off. “I’m home!” the older male stated.
Nicholas emerged from around a corner in the home and smiled. “You made it dad,” the fosky said.
“I wouldn’t miss coming Nicholas. Not for you, your brother Lucas, or your mother Linden.”
Just then the other two who he had mentioned came out and the vixen mother hugged the husky. “Is it all ready?” she asked.
“Yeah,” he replied. “It’s time celebrated.” In Nicholas’s mind he then saw a Christmas tree decorated. A small one, but still a tree. And then the family of four gathered around it with smiles to open the presents. But then the memory faded but not before Liden said one last thing to the husky.
“Here Vincent, this is for you,” she stated.
The flood of the memory ended and Nicholas came back to the present with a loud gasp. While this had all happened in a second, it was enough to make the rest look to him as it was so sudden. “Nicholas?” Rose asked. “You okay?”
“I…” The fosky then stopped and whipped his eyes as they had watered with tears. “I just remembered something again…” He told them what had happened.
“So then… you’re saying that…?” Madeline asked.
“That was of my family. I know it. I remember I have a younger brother named Lucas, a vixen named Linden for a mother, and a husky for a father named Vincent. I wish I had a last name but I don’t. Still… I’m so happy I remembered that at this time of the year.”
“Oh Nicholas, that’s wonderful!” Rose stated. “You’ll get them all back, I know it!”
With the mood up in higher spirits, Trevor was led to his guest room. Now all who was left to come was Isabel and those she was brining. Ephriam was getting more and more happy as the day got closer. Despite having met her at the tournament some months back, the two had formed such a strong connection. So much that letters had been sent back and forth between the two a lot. It had gotten to the point the two had to see the other again and so they decided upon this meeting. She lived in this kingdom but a different section. According to Rose’s older brother, she was from a noble family, but a different one that was influential over the area she was from. It was up in the northern parts of the Magel. And then it came time. Nicholas and the royal family, plus Trevor, were waiting in the entrance way for her and the other guests. They were told they had arrived. Then the doors opened and the guests came in. The one leading them had to be Isabel. While all of them were arctic foxes, she was the one closest to Ephriam in age. Plus the way their eyes lit up when seeing the other made it so obvious. With her was an older male and female, clearly her parents and a little vixen who had to be a sister. Her blue eyes met his. “My Lord Ephriam…” she stated with a happy smile that matched his after this new family came face to face with the rest.
He found her right paw and placed a kiss on top of it. “My Lady Isabel,” he said and then the two hugged with warmth and love.
“It’s so good to see you again,” she whispered into his ear.
“Yes,” the lupine replied softly. “I… missed you… a lot.”
“I really missed you to…” They pulled back with the same smiles still on their faces.
“Well let’s get you to your room,” Ephriam said kindly. “You must want to warm up after that long ride in the cold.”
“Thank you…” He led the way with her bags despite their being servants here. The parents here all exchanged knowing looks with their spouse. They could tell exactly what was going on between these two. Rose and Nicholas exchanged smirks as they to could tell what was going on as well.
Christmas Day then came. The royal family, Isabel and hers, Nicholas, and Trevor gathered in the largest parlor room of the castle that was decorated for the holiday. Everyone had gotten to know the new guests well like they had with them. Indeed, Isabel and Ephriam had gotten even closer in just the short amount of time since being reunited. Now the time had come to give the other gifts. They were all wonderful and some involved hugging in thanks. But then it came time for Nicholas to give Rose her gift. “Rose… I know you probably have almost everything,” he said. “But… I saw this and I knew it was for you…”
The guy handed it over. She smiled and took the box and unwrapped it. The female opened it and gasped. Inside was a bracelet that had a golden design on it. The center had a light blue colored gem. Rose hadn’t expected any jewelry, and something she thought was so beautiful. “Uh… I’m sure you have things like that-“ Nicholas began but was cut off since the she wolf silenced him with a loving hug.
“No… It’s perfect,” she whispered. “Thank you! I love it!”
The fosky let out a breath and hugged her back. The two pulled away and she gave him a loving smile, head tilted to the side slightly. “That makes me happy to hear that,” he said with a smile to match. The rest of her family exchanged knowing looks. They could see how happy Rose was; a happiness that she hadn’t shown since Dante. Perhaps this guy was the one for her now. It was a wonderful Christmas. And the future looked bright for more than one. For when Isabel and her family left she kissed Ephriam on the cheek with love and warmth. They and everyone else knew those two would see the other again very soon. As for Nicholas he felt he was one step closer to winning Rose’s heart. The future looked bright indeed for that.
