Some more family history. My Dad got his Bronze Star in WW II when his unit was pinned down by German forces that supposedly were not there, at least according to the tank platoon commander he found after getting out of the battle and going for help. Fortunately, he was able to convince the commander to take his tanks back to the battle. By then, the Germans had brought up one of these are were putting a serious hurt on his unit. The US tanks turned the tide,and my Dad was awarded the Bronze Star.
