Chapter Ten: Slightly Expected Arrival

The desert, an expansive wasteland expanding over the Nevada boarders and seemingly like a massive hole, nothing was able to escape out of it. And while the tension and the battle of the Riftwalker-Kagen War had yet to escape the Nevada desert one thing might push it out over the world and start to burn it and right now that was the arrival of the Kagens.

And on that normal night presently, a single burst of light splat out from the universe during that normal night, a glowing vortex of white and gold shining out in the desert, surely anyone with a good eye and a go-get-em attitude could have went and explored it. And thanks to a poorly distributed series of sensors alerted the authorities to the portal and thus the Kagen’s cover was blown.

Had there been a lot of them, as the rift stood seemingly opened in the night sky only a single shadow stepping out of the void. As the wind blew onto him, he looks around trying to see where he is. He should know where he was transported to but considering the fool transported him, he decided to check. The sand dunes rose far and high into the sky.

“And like that he fails, well then I might as start walking to the city, or else I’m dune.” The shadow said as he walked over to the dune, maybe to get a look around or maybe to see around and see if anyone was coming to get him. A brief look of panic formed on his face, what if the Riftwalkers had arrived first, what if this was a trap, what if they already were waiting for him. They could just pop  over a sand dune and start shooting him, one of their members did have experience on a desert world.

“Ok, no one’s coming for me looks like I’m as clear as the desert for now, now then where’s the nearest Pizza Hut?” He said as he looked around, if only he still had his phone. He hadn’t been on Earth in a while; he sat down on the ground and started to shake his legs. Maybe someone would come for him, or maybe he would piss off the Kagen people so much they might just come through and shoot him on the spot for his “undying loyalty.”

He laughed a bit enjoying his own abandonment, of course if the Riftwalkers weren’t in this world this would mean they would get the turning point and they would be able to change the direction of the war. Gone were the days of wasting three regenerative lives in one battle, with this world they could focus everything they needed into one point, right into this world, the panama canal of the universe, if it could be called that.

“Now then where should I go first? Maybe Benji is in this universe or maybe Koji or Zander, no keep them out of this they wouldn’t like this.” And with that behind him suddenly a strike of thunder stuck, turning around the shark’s face was turned over towards the large storm clouds, seemingly blowing in unannounced to him.

And looking forward the Kagen suddenly saw a caravan of lights traveling from a little speck of light in the distance. Maybe it was one of the crazy swamp illusions he had heard so much about, but either way he sat down on top of the sand dune and waited, maybe they would be waited out by the storm or maybe they wouldn’t even detect him in the end, so he just waited sitting there in the sand letting it shift into his red armor, The Kagen God, Bright, waiting. He looked up towards the moon his face illuminated by the white light.

“I was raised in chaos; the Kagen Pantheon worked on chaos. Everyday me and brother worked forwards different goals, trying to direct the shark clan and destroy the humans. Of course, he was always the baby of the group and wanted to save the humans like they were a cause.” Bright said as he twisted around, laughing it up. He was definitely crazy and mentally deranged but Benji liked it.

“Well it’s hard to imagine this but your universe is more of a dimension, and there are multiple dimensions; all of these dimensions come together to from a universe. Now there is a multiverse, and in this case some universes have no different just different mixes of dimensions; others are variations or twists created by a dimensional incarnation of my brother Twilight and his idiotic boyfriend Koji.” Bright said as he slowly talked to Dustin.

The Outsiders had finally decided to work with the military for once, sitting in the back seat of a airship, Finn closed his ears and slept for a while as they flew out towards the sensor’s location. If this was a Kagen like the energy signature suggested he would need all the res and all the energy he could hold in him. And that didn’t work out so well, his body sparked against the metallic inside of the chopper as he tried to close his eyes.

They placed him and Isaac in the back, the furthest away from all the important equipment in the front. And in the darkened back Isaac and him sat down having to look forward at Livewire, Armory and General Maverick, that felt quite burnful as the events of the past few days had passed and a situation with the nanobots at the school revealed a few pieces of information with them.

Finn tried not to make contact with Tidus and Michelle for what they had done, practically abandoning him in the middle of the Outsider ocean and leaving him to fend off from the incoming enemies with Isaac, Ross, Erick and Michelle only, and for Finn the hurt only was worse for Tidus, he could have easily joined the Outsiders and they could have been electric shark bros, but instead he had to join the military.

For Finn it felt like he was being betrayed, he would have thought Tidus would figure out he was in the Outsiders, with how poorly  he hid the secret, coming into his house late at night often with Isaac  after a new report about how their secret identities had done something together. No, instead Tidus had to go and join the military, after all he did to help Tidus, he felt like he raised Tidus but no he had to go and join the military, Finn was a terrible parent.

Neither side looked at each other, both sides knowing that the betrayal was too awkward or too straining to talk about and would rather just ignore each other, neither side said nothing and only the sounds of the rotors spinning above them and the hover equipment below them sounded through the cabin. Both just stayed there, their eyes moving to the window and looking out into the large expansive desert.

“General Maverick of the Carson City Military has just received a two point three million dollar grant in order to protect Carson City.”

Finn remembered that moment, that newscast, when suddenly they seemed underfunded and now as it seemed General Maverick was counting his money right in front of him, or at least right below him. They were in a massive movement of military vehicles, in case the Kagens, if they were there, decided to do something stupid. At least if they weren’t it would a good show of the fancy new equipment the General brought, well at least for Maverick.

Finn stood up and cracked his knuckles, a tiny crackle of electricity being sent out and he walked over towards the large slidable doors, he opened the door partly and grabbing onto the hand rail, overhead, he looked out into desert. He saw a tiny glowing point of white and blue form forward ahead of him and he knew that was the Kagen he was looking for.

He wondered if the Kagens would attack them, and if they could defend. All of the new equipment had new plating and hopefully energy attack resistant hulls so if they would attack this would be the time. Looking out about three other air ships flew around them and he looked down, about ten jeeps were driving below them, their headlights on full and running forward at full speed.

Finn closed the doors and looked back at Isaac, who seemed to be waking back up into the world of the living. Finn ignored the three in front of them and walked over as he decided to sit back down. Breathing calmly he shook Isaac and the cyborg shark, waking him up and shocking him, non-electrically, as he opened his eyes.

“Oh are we there yet?” Isaac said as he woke up and Finn shook his head and nodded. Isaac rolled his eyes and closed them again, as he leaned back down into the seat and waited for the moment of battle. Isaac slowly breathed as Finn stood up and started to pace, he seemingly, was waiting for the moment that everything needed to happen and he started to pace around the craft just waiting for that moment.

“Alright we are there, terra, delta, minor, hold on for a second and prepare for it to land.” The militant man piloting the ship said as above them the ship’s rotors slowly started to stir to a stop and with that the hover equipment below them blasted against the ground. The three other airships flew ahead, presumably encircling the Kagen. Finn waited for a few seconds as he grabbed on to the door handle and prepared to open it, he was about to be the first person to meet a new race and would be prepared for that, waiting a moment he took a breath and opened the door.

Finn stepped out three airships flew forward and then suddenly from the airship’s bottom three beams of lights shot down towards the ground and at one target lit the single Kagen up. Finn looked confused, there was only one Kagen, he was about a hundred yards in front of them and he could kind of see him in the distance. Isaac walked out of the airship and both of the sharks waited for Maverick’s command, they wouldn’t do anything beyond stupid today.

“Stay back all of you, wait for him to say something. We cannot shoot him by accident like normal.” Maverick said as he waited in the airship, presumably they were scanning him with equipment on the ship. Finn looked forward; the man seemed to be in some sort of traditional looking armor. It seemed to be red armor with large spherical shoulders and torso armor protecting his front and back.

As the wind blew from behind them, a cape of the same color flowed. Finn wondered if weather was his power, could they be risking be struck by a bolt of lightning as he spoke. Finn looked back but the storm clouds seemed to be only over Carson City, now a tiny speck of light in the back. They might have an hour or so till they would be rained on, and that was only if they stayed in place.

He looked young and didn’t have that battled hardened look that most people did, still just like the Riftwalkers these people from other worlds were sometimes barely immortals, he could be thousands of years old and he wouldn’t know. Finn hung back against the copter as a layer of troopers walked forward from the jeeps and with weapons pointing forward, walked towards the Kagen.

“Well then, I do say quite the show you placed over here for me, I will note it when I make sure your city is dune.” The Kagen said laughing as he looked over at the militant men. His eyebrows lowered as he glanced over the men in front of him. “Oh don’t you get it dune, done; well I already used it, so well then are you afraid of me have the Riftwalkers told you stories of the Kagen’s War Camps because I can tell you of the Riftwalker’s Black Hole Disposal System, you just go in and have to disappear.”

Once again the Kagen laughed again, Finn took a breath of relief at least they were dealing with someone who was as mortally bad as him at telling jokes, Finn waited a few seconds as he looked up at the Kagen it was like  he was up on a stage, and he was the entertainer of the night. And then he walked forward, with his hand engulfed in blue energy suddenly the sand between the soldiers shifted and they parted. The airship’s lights followed him as he walked down the imaginary red carpet.  And with that the Kagen approached them with a smile on his face.

“Now then don’t worry if I wanted to destroy you I already could have with a slip of my finger, instead I have other pests to evacuate off this planet.” The Kagen reached out and grabbed a remote out of his armor. Walking for a few seconds he arrived at the location of the landed airship and stood in front of the group of five, basically presenting himself.

“Stay back or else they will shoot you!” Livewire said as he put his hands forward and sparked his hands, the Kagen laughed at that show of powers and Finn decided it might be worth it to hide his powers. Instead the Kagen walked forward and extended his hand to Livewire. Livewire looked down and grabbed his hand, and the Kagen looked confused when they touched.

“Ah now then, allow me to introduce myself; I am Bright, the ambassador to this Earth and a few other Earths but basically consider this, we are the Kagens but you probably now that the Riftwalkers already told you about us, no instead I am just kind of the lookout, if no one attacks me then I can click this button.” Bright said as he showed the remote. Suddenly it was lifted up into the air, Bright’s hand following it in a grip.

Finn looked over and Isaac had his hand lifted using gravity powers to take the signaling remote from the Kagen. Isaac might have just saved all their lives.  The fact that he just did that might have been the most unbelieve part of the night, Finn looked over as the Kagen tried to jump up and pull it back down to his hand, he looked over and the Kagen was barely grabbing onto the bottom of the remote, his thumb couldn’t reach any clicker.

“Well then, aren’t you guys smart, using gravity powers next time I might use Velcro.” Bright said as he tried to jump on the ground, but quickly his grip slipped out and he landed back on the ground. Isaac smiled and pulled the remote in his hands, now he had the power in his hands, he could put his hand on the click and then he could have the military at his knees right that second, which is why he felt good that Finn ripped it out of his hands. Finn glanced over to Isaac as he tried to figure out what he would do.

“Yeah I don’t think either of you two are calling the Kagens anytime soon, so then tell us what you know and maybe we’ll let you go back through that portal back to  your world.” Finn said as he looked up the dune and saw that there was nothing there, Bright smiled at him and laughed a bit as he tried to negotiate with the mortals. Secretly he was worrying, if he didn’t send a defusing signal with in twelve hours then the Kagens would attempt to collapse this dimension, resulting in his death and the Riftwalkers left would save it and then the war would escalate.

“Well then you are Finn if I am not mistaken.” The Kagen said as he walked forward and took off his helmet, he was a shark his skin blue and his jaw filled with shark teeth. Finn laughed a bit and walked forward, the shark looked oddly familiar like he had seen him in a dream.

“Now then, I hope you’re beautiful face might show me the nicest of Earth’s welcoming party?” Bright said as he bowed and smiled, Finn realized that he was flirting with him and he wouldn’t have that shit. Finn nodded and backed up as he walked forward and grabbed his walkie talkie. Bright smiled for a few more seconds and then realized what was happening.

“He’s illegal, check him for a passport and detain him!” Finn said as suddenly the militant men fired below Bright’s feet and trapped him as they jumped onto him and knocked him into the ground. Bright yelled as suddenly a tight pair of handcuffs were placed onto Bright’s hand and he was trapped by Finn. Finn smiled as he looked down and smiled at him.

“Next time, don’t flirt with me, now then welcome to Earth!” Finn said as he looked down at Bright and smiled waving as the militant men placed a pair of energy handcuffs on Bright’s fists and prevented him from doing anything stupid or escaping. They dragged him off with quite the face of certain proudness as Finn looked down at the remote. Bright looked shocked as he was dragged off by the men.

“You bitch! We were supposed to send out the Riftwalkers together!” Bright yelled as he was knocked into the jeep, trapped with the military men. Finn smiled and held onto the remote, not wanting to activate it with his tight pockets he kept it stick in his hands and looked at Armory and Livewire, both of them with their powers ready, they looked disappointed and surprised.

“Well then shows you what we Outsiders can do, come on Graviton.” Finn said smiling as he walked into the airship and Isaac said smiling at them as well as he walked into the airship. Finn sat down and only peaked at the other two as they both looked like lovers scorned, Finn waited and looked at Isaac as he sat down.

“Good job.” Finn said as he grabbed Isaac’s hand and Isaac nervously smiled as Finn rubbed Isaac’s joints. Isaac shivered and Finn could feel that he was nervous about the Kagens, even if they could trap that one Kagen, if the Kagens were signaled then who knew how many there were, who knew how powerful they were, and who knew if they could take them on.

“I know we just need to be careful, this isn’t a funny subject. This is life and death.” Isaac said as he smiled and the two of them stayed together. Luckily it had been a few weeks since the last nanobot attack and on the same field the Riftwalkers hadn’t done anything in the meantime. But maybe if they stayed together they could work it out.

Finn had never been the military base before, in fact it was an entirely new experience to him. He never imagined how a group operated in such a large space and thus as he hoped out of the airship, landing on his feet as the rotors behind him stopped and he walked forward wondering what it was like inside, as the industrial sized gates opened and the jeeps drove in and stopped, Finn walked over.

This needed to be professional; he needed to convey to the city that all in all, he and the Outsiders would be able to handle the Kagens and that included making sure they wouldn’t escape. He didn’t know the full extent of the Kagen’s powers and tonight would not be a good night to do so. Putting his hands behind his back, adjusting his red vest he walked over to the jeep that contained Bright.

Looking over, he saw as the Kagen was rolled off the truck wearing a white mask and being industrially held to a dolly with straps. Bright attempted to curse at Finn as he was dragged by, Finn and Isaac walking behind him and the three militants, they expected him to attempt to break out but seemingly to their surprise he managed to stay well contained.  Finn walked forward and through the two doors and into the military base.

Unlike their hip cool and modern base, this looked old and aged, lights seemed to be flickering on and off barely and he felt like he was encapsulated by the building as he walked into the brick built building, it was quite the experience. Walking forward, he watched as Bright was sent into an interrogation room and Finn knew he had to follow.

Iren didn’t want to be called into the military bases of all places, god forbid she met up with Michelle again but she was happy knowing that Finn and Isaac managed to get one up on the Military. Walking into the public front doors, she looked to the side and saw Erick and Ross. And to her left, next to counter was a person talking on the telephone. In his hand he was holding a strange device, it was Basil.

“Yes I has been five years for me I’m sorry time just gets away sometimes but for all you know I could walk into that room right then and there, so just wait, and I will be back for you my kind.” Basil said as he disconnected the phone and hung it up, turning around he looked back and smiled as he saw Iren.

“I can feel it inside you.” Basil said smiling as he walked forward towards Iren, a little excited, a little overbearing. He walked over and smiled as he seemingly grabbed Iren’s hand and felt the energy inside of her. She pulled back her hands quite forcefully and Basil’s smile shifted to a disappointed frown. “What’s wrong I can feel your power growing inside of you, you’re power is multiplying and did you confirm it with a test?”

“Get away from me, stay away from here there is a Kagen here.” Iren said as she tried to walk away, she walked through the set of doors showing her credentials as to the assistant as the two of them walked forward. Iren crossed her arms and frowned as she tried to forget about Basil, yet he followed her.

“Oh come on ignore that, this is wonderful.” Basil said as Ross and Erick followed suit, they both had worried looks on their faces and followed as they made sure that Iren was protected from the Riftwalker. He followed suit, and followed Iren, that worried them especially as they approached the Kagen’s interrogation room.

“Basil I’m sorry about this but I can’t have you do this to me, so run away now or you will be sorry.” Iren said as she shiftily turned around and looked Basil in the eyes, “I’m sorry about this no hard feelings.” Iren turned around with a seemingly sly smile and looked back towards the hallway. “Guards help this man followed me in!”

Basil’s face turned to a frown as he realized he was being kicked out, two guards suddenly turned around and ran at the large shark. Running past Iren, they jumped into the air and knocked the Riftwalker on the floor. Iren smiled as she saw him being detained and watched as the two guards both struggled to pull him up and take him away.

“Make sure he gets his sword, don’t worry just make sure he doesn’t come back in here, official Outsider treatment.” Iren said as she showed her credentials and watched as the militants pulled Basil out of the military base, going through the unlockable door and making their way out.

“You cannot run from this Iren, the truth about it has to come out eventually you will have to make people pick sides!” Basil said as he struggled with the guards and was thrown out of the building. A few seconds later there was a flash of light as he presumably threw his teleporting sword and disappeared from the city. Iren smiled and continued walking.

“What the hell was that about?” Ross asked as he looked a Iren trying to figure out what she was talking about. Iren smiled as she walked forward and made her way towards the integration area. Iren turned into the door and grabbed the handle opening it for Erick and Ross.

“He thinks I am special just because I use the same energy that Riftwalkers use to fight with my powers, it’s nothing.  I can handle him and you know that.” Iren said as she walked forward and Ross nodded trusting her. She sat down and looked forward, watching the event happening through the one way glass.

“Now then let’s see who you are.” Finn said as he raised his hand and showed a scanner, pointing it forward at Bright he smiled and scanned him. Bright smiled as he sat down his mask off. Bright looked around the room, a white chair and seemingly sound proofed walls, a one way mirror behind him and that was all it took for him to figure out he was being interrogated, so he would play his cards to his advantage.

Finn looked at the screen; Bright appeared to be like a normal shark in the whole sense. Same brain size, same sinus structure, same mouth, teeth and windpipe, until the scanner reached his chest. Seemingly something amazing happened, two hearts, the smaller taking the blood from the brain and the larger taking the blood from the whole body, only a tiny collapsible vessel seemed to connect them.

Finn turned his head when he saw this, two forms of blood seemingly separated from each other. The brain had some sort of thinner blood that contained more red blood cells while the other paler blood to the body carried blood filled with strange structures, Finn turned his head as he tried to imagine what they did.

“If you haven’t figured it out yet, the structures let me transport my energy at the speed of light compared to your bodies speed of push, my species was built to survive battle and we don’t even have to worry about death.” Bright said smiling as he saw the refection of the screen from behind Finn, not that he would let the shark know. He smiled and crossed his arms.

“What do you have some sort of biological system for repairing damage, the Riftwalkers can do that too. The only thing of interest for me is your two hearts, I wonder what else of two you have.” Finn said as he seemingly pointed the scanner downwards and smiled. Isaac from the next room face palmed watching Finn.

“No regeneration.” Bright said as he held out his hand and suddenly an orange glow appeared in his hand and it flew up. “Why die when your body can renew all your cells and make you a new man.”

“Well then isn’t that just the more interesting biological quirk.” Finn said as he looked around the room and saw the regeneration hit the ceiling and pass into nothingness on it. Finn laughed seeing that. “Now then we know why you are here and you know why you are here, what did the Riftwalkers do that demands a war?”

“Oh you know they invaded our universes and stole our people our land, we are fighting for what they have taken from us including this universe.” Bright said as Finn smiled and then just like that there was a knocking on the door. Finn turned his head and if he cared for the Kagen, he might apologize.

“Now then you Kagen piece of shit let’s get down to the real piece of meet here, let’s say you do click down on that clicker, how many Kagens are we dealing with, how many come through that portal?” Isaac said as he walked around Bright smiling with his arms folding back, not showing any weakness and being himself generally. Bright laughed a bit.

“Oh yeah I forgot, this is a backwater planet, let’s estimate one thousand Kagens walking on your Earth, some with twelve lives like myself some with less than that but all trained and built warriors through and through, each one of us with this quite silly armor but all of us looking to prevent to Riftwalkers from doing their thing.” Bright said smiling as he looked Isaac in the eye and said the truth, Isaac shivered for a second. He looked into the one way mirror and while looking into his eyes, he could feel Finn grasping on tightly to the remote.

“Ha only one thousand Kagens, good job Basil this building based hearing device works excellently.” High Brother Ignatius said as he stood in the high tower of the Riftwalker camp, on a massive screen in front of him, he looked at the interrogation, if anything could happen, Basil could start teleporting in Riftwalkers at a rate of three per fifteen seconds.

“With our rate of one Riftwalker per three Kagens, we now have a hundred and thirty three more Riftwalkers then we need.” Brother Agentic said smiling as he did the quick and dirty mental math and smiled both of them laughing as suddenly the Kagen invasion force seemed quite small in comparison.

“Well then I want information, I want to know battle tactics, I want to know how you organize yourself, and if you bring a cat into battle I want to know that, I want to know and see everything you do, because this is not supported by us.” Isaac said smiling as he grabbed a piece of paper and pen and placed it in front of Bright. The Kagen looked at it for a second before grabbing the pen and seeing it was quite the heavy pen.

“Well you see we gather in some abnormal methods, we start out with a line like this and then we form a half circle, and its ends are connected with an arc. Going down from that are two straight lines until we reach the bottom and then we go off into two circles until we join up again, and then we gather in straight lines randomly.” Bright said smiling as Isaac rolled his eyes for something that wouldn’t be that far out of his playbook. Isaac grabbed the piece of phallic paper and threw it away and sighed.

“Okay then, you want to play this game then. Well then time to take a little suggestion out of the 2003 enhanced interrogation rulebook.” Isaac said as he suddenly raised his hands and then suddenly the room started to shake, as Bright realized what he meant the Kagen started to float in the air, presumably at the same time as Finn facepalming. Isaac jumped up in normal gravity and to the table and held Bright in place as he floated in the chair, handcuffed and unable to grab at anything.

Cracking his hands Isaac waited a few seconds and wondered how long he could keep the gravity like it was. It was affecting everything in the room, except for him and the table. Isaac smiled for a few seconds until suddenly Bright turned himself and smiled at Isaac, before the shark could act everything happened.

“Well then I wish you good luck against the invasion!” Bright said as he kicked Isaac, Bright flew off Isaac and towards the mirror, hitting it he braced and broke through the glass. In that second the gravity effect spread out to everything in the now connected room and quickly all four of them in the room looked worried.

Finn quickly attempted to jump up and grab the Kagen, but he found himself put aside as Bright went for the militant, the keys in his hand flying up and out of his grip as the window broke. Bright reached out with his bound hands and grabbed the keys, only using a simple technique that he learned from Benji in order to unlock his hands and like that escape his bindings.

“Now then time for me to go.” Bright said flying forward as he floated downwards, something that Finn realized he could have done the whole time and then grabbed the clicker out of Finn’s hand. Bright then disappeared in a flash of energy and Finn realized that he teleported their method to trap him had only helped him get away and summon the Kagen’s closer to Carson City.

And then Finn fell to the floor and landed with a thump to his back, he climbed over the window, avoiding the broken shards of glass and climbing into the room as Isaac looked over to the window and he started to steam. Finn walked over and put his hand on Isaac’s back.

“No, he is not going to escape and he is not going to summon the Kagen’s I will make sure of it!” Isaac said as he lifted the window and then as he realized that it was just a decoy. And thus he formed a tiny point of hyperbolic gravity and sucked the window away. With that window open, he jumped through the hole and started to running after the escaping Kagen.

“Ok, this is bad they know who we are, they know what we are, they know we are coming, the Kagen’s need to be summoned!” Bright said as he started clack at the clicker and he felt it touch. He heard the slightly hypersonic conformation transmission and he knew he had to wait as the Kagens in the next universe over got the signal and Zonate had to prepare the portal.

Bright looked forward, surprising in the desert there was a hill that wasn’t a dune and more surprising there was a forest at the top of the hill. Bright made a full dash towards the hill intending to disappear within the tree line like the sneaky shark that he was. Bright continued to click on the clicker, that way the Kagens could estimate his speed and appear in front of him as well.

Running up the hill, he quickly looked behind him as the dry dirt of the desert became the grounded wet soil of the forest, running through the forest he looked forward and continued to click more excitedly as he saw a massive lake, any source of water would do in case. Looking around him, he looked up and saw snow on top of a mountain.

He kept running, pushing himself on as he tried to just keep going, he didn’t know if the Outsiders would follow on foot or vehicle, but he knew he had to keep going. Maybe he ran a mile or two but he could see a blue reflection ahead of him and if that was water then he might not be dammed in the end after all.

“What sort of climate hell am I in, snow and forest and sand behind me, sweet Jesus, it must weather based superheroes are probably wreaking havoc in this town.” Bright said as he ran forward, looking at the lake ahead. Suddenly running downwards in the night, the wind started to blow and lighting struck around him as he reached the center of the mountain. Rain started to fall and as he clicked the button, he heard a second beeping sound.

“Stop right there, you can’t run over the lake, you can’t swim through the lack and you can’t go around it, so then I think you are trapped again, so fight me!” Finn said as Isaac and a tiny platoon of thirteen soldiers followed him up and down the mountain. Finn smiled as he started to walk towards Bright but then something strange happened, the wind started to blow towards him.

Quickly it started to sleet on him, the wind blasting at him and nearly blinding him. Looking forward the lake started to gather and it froze. Bright laughed as he backed up, in front of him, a piece of ice jutted out forming a stair like addition to the lake. Finn backed up and suddenly a large rip in existence formed, colored blue it stood in front of the stairs for a few idle seconds and even as the wind cleared Finn quickly realized the Kagens were coming.

“And now the Kagen’s come back to their homeland.”

A voice said as it broke through the portal, passing through with vigor. A body passed through, it was another shark. This time it was dressed in high body armor and seemed to be the pinnacle of Kagen warriors. Finn watched as he stepped out onto the ice and with a simple flick of his hands a ball of ice formed in his hand.

“Ah good Twilight you came.” Bright said.

"So then Koji, for some introductions my name is Twilight, but that doesn't matter right now, what's important now is that you live on, you are a part of a..." Twilight said introducing himself and piling enough information into Koji's brain cache that his attention snapped.

“Yes, speaking of them we haven’t seen them in a while; I assume that you were from one of the other universes I made.” Twilight asked as he took a sip of coffee and looked at Bright. Bright shook his head and took another sip, before pouring another cup for himself.

“The Rifts are here but we can attack against them, it is all at your choice.” Bright said as he bowed down to his brother. Smiling as he saw the Kagen appear in the real world. Twilight glanced around as he examined the environment. Behind Twilight, Kagen soldiers dressed in the same red armor as Bright stepped out and it was obvious unlike Bright they were armed. Quickly as one threw a gun to Bright, they started to fire on the Outsiders.

“Everyone, defend this point make sure they can’t go forward! Give them continuous fire!” Finn yelled as he ducked down against a tree. Twilight smiled as with his fingers lowering, so did the temperature. The rain that blasted against them quickly turned into snow and like that it started to become a winter wonder land.

Finn shivered but stayed steady; pointing forwards he tried to keep the mental location of the Kagens in his head. He could see the ghostly lights of the portal in front of him as he looked forward. Snow barely parted and he realized this was Twilight’s doing, this was his power and he was doing this. Isaac walked forward against the wind, his body engulfed in purple and more than hinting he was using his powers.

“Isaac see if you can pull back the wind towards them!” Finn yelled as Isaac nodded, putting his hand forward, Isaac transferred the energy in his body to his hand as he grabbed a tree and in a second all the wind suddenly stopped. Finn closed his eyes and thanked someone as he realized the wind situation was over, looking around he was up to his feet in snow.

“See about that Twilight, our powers can go head to head with each other and you need to deal with that, because if we work together then we will kick your ass!” Finn said smiling as he walked forward and looked at the Kagen god as the layer of fog was pulled back. Finn breathed slowly as he walked forward hoping to stop the Kagen and his invasion.

“Fine then, we will leave for now but we will be back.” Twilight said as he disappeared into the forest and behind him as him and Kagen soldiers walked away from the lake. Finn slowed down as he watched the snow melt and the lake defrost. Finn sat down on the moist ground and looked at the Kagens.

“That was real close.” Isaac said as he sat down as well and they realized something, “This is only the beginning.”
