Kit ducked into the house, there are no houses that were intact anymore but this one was in good shape the roof was mostly intact, the small front garden was overgrown and the brick walls were covered in ivy and creepers, but most dragons avoided built-up areas not many humans there to hunt or play with. They had all fled to the far reaches of the globe, her clothes were dirty and stained her hair one a vibrant orange was dulled, knotted and cut unevenly, Kit took out her backpack and unslung her bow she hadn't caught anything today but she had food in her bag, stuff that never went off she took out some beef jerky and ate some. 

Well, she thought to herself there a few less beef jerkies' in the world now.  

It was a pleasant day and it was turning into a nice dusk one could almost be forgiven for forgetting that humans were now just scavengers, surviving off the scraps of when was left and hiding and being hunted by the new dominant species the dragons. Kit had only seen a few dragons in her time and from a distance, which was where she wanted them, each was massive at least twenty-five meters tall, they walked on two digitigrade legs with three toes they came in many colours, sizes and also had massive wings that they could fold tight into her back, Kit didn't know where they came from but she knew what they wanted, and with that pleasant thought in her mind, she took out her sleeping bag and wiggled into it in the falling apart house and closed her eyes. 

It was early morning Kit awoke there was gunfire. 

Fuck she thought that's going to get somethings attention, she stuffed her bedroll into her bag and looked around she grabbed her bow and hurriedly put her backpack on and she peeked out the window, she saw two men running down the street maybe fifty meters from her, then there was a voice. 

It was light and curious but at the same time just a little menacing 'oh you run now' then a sigh, 'move a little a little quicker please.'

Kit ducked below the window breathing heavily she had never been this close to a dragon, she herd one of the men screaming more gunfire Kit bit down on her hand so she didn't make a sound she was still breathing heavily she ground shook, and it was getting closer there were almost tears in her eyes, Kit did not want to die so she crouched down low lower taking off her bag ready to run.

'You can come out now human, and make this a lot easier on both of us' the dragon said. 

Kit didn't move she just curled tighter into a ball terrified the footsteps stopped she chanced a look she could see just the feet of the dragon, it stood on its three toes and its scales were a deep purple her inner art student said aubergine the dragon's tail was held just above the pavement it twitched ever so slightly, then the feet turned to face the house Kit was cowing in 

The human didn't move so I hunkered down and ripped what remained of the roof of the building, I looked down at the human. 

'Hello', I said, to the small human, a female. 

I looked down at the tiny human that trebled before me, I was hunkered down in front of her she quivered like I shy rabbit it looked more terrified than anything I had ever seen I smiled to try to calm the human down it had the opposite effect, she probably looked like I was baring my fangs I stopped, I could smell the fear see the sweet it was wide-eyed with pure terror, I reached out a hand but the human didn't move she didn't run she just accepted her fate.

'Just get it over with' the human said, dejected. 

I smiled showing all of my teeth, 'oh but we don't even know each other'. 

Kit looked at the dragon he had never been this close to one before, they were big and her legs being digitigrade made it so that when The dragon was hunkered down its knees were almost at the same level as its feet, its massive wings were tucked in tight to its body its hair was short and shiver,  it's horn's where black she had two sets the larger ones curved up and she smaller pair curved down, they sat each other just behind its ears witch also poked out of her hair too, and it was wearing cloths witch was strange she again had never seen them up close but mostly dragons didn't bother with anything fancy, just a loincloth and something to cover the beast area, but this one was wearing almost a grey robe cut off at the shoulders, with a breast pocket and with a belt shorts that were burgundy with matching thick fingerless gloves that extended half ways its arm, and thin red scarf both tails moving lazily in the slow breeze of early dawn.  

'W-what do you want to know about me?' Kit asked. 

The dragon shrugged, it picking up putting Kit in its palm as it began to walk towards the forest. 

'we could go with names.' 

'Ok,' Kit said she was confused, she had never seen dragon act like this before 'my name is Kit.'

I looked down at the human in my palm, she had nice light green eyes the same as mine, but she was very dirty and dishevelled.

'my name is Umber' I said.  

'Y-your gloves are nice their comfortable' the human says to me.

I look down at her smiling, not showing my teeth this time and nod accepting the compliment.

'thank you' I say, as I begin to walk through the forest.

I was wondering what to do with this human, she hadn't been trying to steal my food mostly I just let humans go but this one was different he hadn't run or tried to kill me perhaps we could play a game, I didn't know any human games but I needed to wait until night.

'What else would you like to know about me?' Kit asked, looking up at Umber as the forest passed below her perhaps the dragon would let her go, once she had told her everything or maybe she would well it was best not to dwell on that.

'How bout you what did you do before we came, what have you been doing since.' 

Kit snorted. 

Something funny, the dragon asked. 

'No, no I wasn't laughing I didn't I'm sorry.' 

'You didn't offend me' I say, 'I just want to know what you found so funny.' 

Oh, it's just you a dragon and well you just killed two people, but well you are carrying me and we are having a conversation I didn't even know you could speak English. 

Ok first off I let those two men go, even though they ate my breakfast and caught a teacher once Umber said, and at the look on Kit's face added, 'I let him go after he just taught me English so I could talk to you, well not you specifically just humans what about you?.' 

'Sorry yes me' Kit said remembering why she was still alive, 'I was doing an arts degree in college I lived in a flat.'

'Ah yes,' i say for some reason eager to show off my knowledge, 'that is like a house or many houses stacked on top of each other correct?'

'Yes, it is' the humans says. 

'And a college like a school, after school.' 

The human nods again. 

'And you were learning art as well can you draw,' I say to the human.  

'Well yes I can' the human says, this makes me smile we reach an area that is relatively clear of trees I sit down and I gently lower Kit to the ground, there were ferns everywhere and three had started to become taller and more slender.

'I would like to play a game?' I ask  

'What game?' Kit asked she wasn't going to argue with the twenty-seven-meter-tall dragon.

'I'm not familiar with human games' I say, 'but do you have one? a human game?' 

'Do you have a pack of cards?' Kit asked me. 

'I don't' I say then 'Hold on I think I have a game, I think actually what's it called, it's the one where you like you hide then I have to find you.' 

'That would be hide and seek' Kit says. 

'Let's play that then,' I say, 'you hide I will give you fifteen minutes to hide ok.' 

Kit seemed confused, 'why?' 

Waiting until dark I think to myself then I say to Kit 'I just like games.' 

Kit was very confused by this dragons actions, but maybe it was just being friendly but that was unlikely maybe her life depended on this game of hide and seek.

'have you started counting?' Kit asked.

'Yep,' Umber nods.

Kit took off. 

I had finished counting to nine hundred and following my nose, I headed into Forest casually walking over many of the trees covering the ground, what Kit had made in fifteen minutes I made in less than three. 

Kit was terrified there was nowhere to go she was searching the bank of the river fruitlessly, she could follow the river down steam towards the coast or she could go up she wanted to cross but there was no way, Kit was racked with indecision, how do I escape from this dragon then she herd the dragon approaching. 

'Shit' She swore under her breath. 

Kind dived for a tree just as I stepped into the river, it was shin-deep for me much too deep for Kit and the water was moving much to fast for her to cross, I could smell the Kit almost hear her heart beating I smiled as I played along for a few seconds longer.

Kit was terrified the dragon turned around she exhaled slowly she crouched lower, this is it she thought to herself you hand one shot and you blew it this was it.

I pretended to be examining the caves and saying in a high sweet voice, 'Kit where are you.' Kit's mind was whirring, how am I going to get out of this then she almost shit herself, as she realized that she couldn't see the dragon. 

'where are-' Kit stopped mid-sentence, she could feel something on her back, she turned around slowly willing it not to be. 

'Hello,' I said, Kit jumped back breathing heavily.

'For something so big, you are way too quiet,' She says, almost sadly.  

'aw thanks' I say.

Kit stood, 'ok games over just do your thing.'

'What do you mean?' I say, confused.

Kit seemed genuinely sad, 'don't drag this out just, just' I could see the tears 'end it.'

'No' I said, 'I'm not going to kill you, eat you or harm you at all.'

Kit wiped the tears from her face, 'so you're not going to kill me?' 

'No' Umber seemed aghast, 'I'm not' The dragon sat back knees drawn into its chest, its toes and ankles aligned

Kit looked nervous again, 'are you going to let me go then?' she asked.

I thought about this for a few seconds, 'well I don't know how to say this, but no I'm not.' 

Kit looked sad again.

Pity welled up in me. 'hey, it's ok I'm taking you somewhere safe.' 

Kit looked up at the dragon. 'what do you mean somewhere safe?' 

'A human camp' I said scooping Kit up. 'I'll take you to the human camp now.' 

'Thank you,' kit says to me.

She holds onto one of my fingers, she seems to be generally excited and Kit smiled for the first time since I ripped the roof off the house she was hiding in. 

'You can ride on my scarf if you want' I say to Kit, she nods. 

'You probably don't want to be carrying me the whole time,' Kit was ecstatic at the chance to meet new humans.

'That's true' I say, but also you will want something warm. 

'Whys that?' Kit asks me. 

'Well I'm not going to walk' I say, unfurling my wings

I rase my hand to shoulder level, Kit jumps from my hand to my scarf I feel her small form as she nestles between my scarf and my neck, she is small even for a human I gave my wings a few flaps and took a running jump I lifted off I heard Kit scream first out of fear but then in changed as the ground dropped below us to one of pure joy 

'Ever wanted to fly?' I ask I can't help but smile at the laugh of pure joy that came from Kit's mouth as she pulled the scarf tighter around her. 

'Yes, I have holy shit this is amazing' Kit whooped, out of pure joy as the ground blurred her and she held on to Umbers scarf for dear life as the twin tails whipped out behind her 

Onyx stood in the middle of her personal clearing that she shared with her partner Umber and she was currently wondering where the fuck she was, the clearing was a rather large circler and with enough room for several dragons it was bordered by dense forest of all sides and there was a river nearby that fed into a lake. Onyx started flapping her wings anxiously she was thirty meters tall with very long white hair that cascaded down to her lower black like a river over rocks, and blood-red eyes which were currently scanning the darkening sky, a light breeze blew through the clearing ruffling Onyx's grey shirt and her hair her singlet witch was also grey was form-fitting, made for her by Umber as were all her clothes but Onyx had refused to let her put colour on her clothes because to her it made no sense to have yourself more visible. But in it but after much talk Onyx had relented and let Umber add one thing with colour, it was a red armband it matched her eyes Umber had spent a long time getting it just right Onyx ran a hand over it smiling fondly at the memory, Umber had been very proud she said that had put it on just a splash of colour on her and she needed it then Onyx wrapped Umber up in a hug. Then things had gotten a little out of hand after that Onyx looked up she herd wing beats and look up the felt a rush of relief she saw Umbers from taking shape, two minutes later Onyx raised an arm to protect her eyes as Umber landed. 

I barely have time to land before Onyx wrapped her arms around me nuzzling me. 

Where have you been, she asked equally frustrated and relieved then she pulled back, Onyx must have seen the small form tucked into my scarf. 

She looked concerned, 'what is that she asked?'  

I avoided direct eye contact.

Onyx sighed, 'you brought a human didn't you.' 

I shuffled my feet nervously, 'yes' I looked up at Onyx 

'Umber, why here of all places' she said, exasperated.

'They won't find out' I say definitely putting a hand protectively over the sleeping Kit and 'if they do, I'll have support.'

'They will' Onyx said, 'and when they do, they will eat her and make you watch.'

'No, they won't' I say, fiercely 'I will protect her.' 

'Then you will protect you?' she asked.

I did my best puppy eyes and without looking found her hand with mine, intertwining our fingers 'yo will' I say moving closer.  

Onyx looked up at the sky then back down at me concern written all over her face, 'Umber I don't think-' 

'I can do this' I say squeezing Onyx's hand, 'we can do this what could go wrong?'

Onyx sighed and smiled, 'a plethora of things could go wrong, so, so, so many things but you what? Fuck it we will keep the human.' 

'Good' I say, 'her names Kit' I gently release Onyx's hand and undo my scarf, being careful not to wake Kit I put her still in the scarf on the ground Onyx bent down to examine Kit, she sniffed her.

'She's kinda cute you know and very small, barely even a snack she may be safe after all who would bother eating that?'

I playfully punched Onyx's shoulder, 'don't say that she will be fine.' 

'That's what I said' Onyx was smiling.

'I have no words for you right now' i say laying down, 'so come here I need bedtime snuggles and this means no more humans, ok? you can catch them if you want but no eating them alright.' 

'fine by me' Onyx said she lay down next to me, our hands one again intertwined I had Onyx on one side and Kit on the other, I looked up at the night sky then I looked over a Onyx I laid my head on her chest and she slowly caressed the back of my head until sleep took me.

Kit woke up which was a good start, she had half expected to wake up as the dragon was swallowing her, Kit opened her eyes she was still in in the scarf it was warm and comforting and she was no longer flying. Kit stood up pushing away the folds of the scarf she was in the middle of a massive clearing she looked around, there were no humans but there was another dragon it was sitting not facing Kit, she gasped and ducked down hiding within the folds of the scarf she peeked up again the dragon had not turned its hair with long it went all the way down to its lower back, its clothes were grey the some as its scales its horns were black and long the curved back then up. 

'So, your awake' the new dragon said, turning it looks at me and I see it's eyes blood-red 'mmmmmmm' the dragon looked at Kit as if it was mystified by her existence, 'what am I supposed to do with you' she walked over and crouched down in front of me.

Kit looked into the dragon's blood-red eyes, her breaths came quickly this was only the second dragon the Kind hand met and she was not sure of her motives.

'w-what are you going to do?'

'Not kill or harm you in any way shape or form' the dragon, looking at her for what seemed an eternity with those eyes, Kit stood there awaiting judgment.

'but letting you go sounds boring' the new dragon stood. 

Kit blanched the dragon was just a head taller than Umber, it was a colossal beast and it stood over her blocking out the sun, 'w-what did you have in mind' Kit asked

The dragon licked its lips, and started to reach for her 'how about-'

'Onyx stop antagonizing the small child'

The dragon, Onyx jerked her hand back.

Kit felt relieved, Umber stepped out of the forest carrying several kangaroos. 

'We talked about this don't spook Kit,' Umber seemed distraught 

Onyx seemed a little peeved as she stood, 'I just wanted to meet her I didn't mean to spook her.'                                  

'Well you did look at Kit, you terrified her, not a good first introduction.'

'Oh, and how did you introduce yourself again?' Onyx asked.

I was trying and failing to keep a straight face, 'I ripped the roof off the house she was hiding in.' 

Onyx strode over to me and embraced me, 'exactly'

I looked up into Onyx's eyes for a moment, then Onyx gently brought my chin up and pulled me into a kiss.

I pulled away quickly, 'Onyx not in front of the child' I was only a little annoyed I was mostly feeling amorous now.

'Well' Kit said, 'that was interesting.'

I was blushing, the scales on the top of my muzzle lighting slightly.

'Nothing wrong with a bit of affection' Kit said, she was being very cheeky.

'You know' Onyx said, 'for a human, you have quite a mouth on you.' 

'So, Umber' Kit asked, 'Is this your partner?' 

'Yes, she is' I say. 

'I can tell' she said, 'So, you both protect the camp.' 

Onyx looked confused, 'what camp?'

Kit had a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach, she looked around then up at the two dragons still hugging 'you, you lied' she said.

'I should have seen this coming well, yes I just thought that it would be easier to bring you here if you thought I was bringing you to other humans.'  

Kit and Onyx gave me the same look, 'why' they both said then they looked at each other surprised. 

'Yea honey, that makes no sense there are no humans survivor camps for a reason' Onyx said, 'look I see why you did it the last place little red is gonna want to be is in a dragon camp, but you can't just lie to her.' 

I felt ashamed. 

'Hold on' Kit said ignoring the little red comment, 'did you just say camp.' 

'Yes,' Onyx said. 

'Are there any other-'

'No, not here I said this is our private clearing no other dragons are allowed here without our express permission.' 

I crouched down with my hand out, 'here you are safe I promise you' I said genuinely, and Onyx crouched down to 'we will both keep you safe.' 

Kit looked up at these two massive beings they were dragons she was like an ant to them so small and to most dragons a quick snack, but these two they wanted to help her protect her she looked into Onyx's red eyes then Umber's light green eyes, they had the same eyes. 

She nodded 'ok' not that I could say no anyway Kit thought then would I say no?

'Good' Umber said, 'it's breakfast time,' she dropped the kangaroos to the ground. 

'Thanks, honey' Onyx said, picking up two kangaroos and eating them raw, blood dribbled down her chin and bones crunched under her powerful jaws. 

I looked down at Kit she looked a little uncomfortable watching Onyx eat 'it's alright' i say 'she always eats like that' I roll my eyes exaggeratedly and sit down, 'here' I say, cutting out a piece of a kangaroo.

I impale it on one claw roasting it with a bust if flame I present it to Kit, who thanks me takes it and begins to tear into it I pick her up and put her on my shoulder.

'Wow' Onyx said with a mouth full of food, 'and you say I eat like a pig.' 

'Hey' Kit said also with a mouth full of food, 'I haven't eaten for two days.' 

I gave an exaggerated sigh of pain, 'you two are just as bad as each other you know that right?' I say looking at them both.

'Hey,' Onyx said, swallowing her food in one gulp and almost choking, 'I am not as bad as her.' 

I gave Onyx an appraising look, 'she's cleaning her hands and she said thank you, so you can get off your high horse right now little miss.' 

'She is doing it on your scarf.'

'Least she cleans her hands.'

Onyx looked at me we both tried to keep straight faces, I cracked first and soon we were all laughing.

There was a rustling sound and then a high smooth laugh Onyx, Kit and Umber turned the laughter died on their lips and in their eyes another dragon had just entered the clearing, this one was big with vibrant yellow scales digitigrade legs and no hair, just spins and frills he wore only a loincloth and he spoke in a language it was rough with hard consonants.

'Ze ra nech' he laughed again 

Onyx was on her feet her lips drawn back in a snarl, 'Fay re nack noy re set-a' 

This was not good I picked Kit up off my shoulder and held her close to my chest standing just behind Onyx, Kit had no idea what was happening I could feel her panic rising, I picked up my scarf. 

'Very defensive today Onyx, but you know I go where I please' the new arrival said, 'don't want me hurting your little friend I assume.' 

'I will rip your throat out' I snarl at Aborwath, holding Kit and my scarf. 

Then I look down at Kit and say in English, 'it's going to be fine.' 

'Don't bullshit me' she says, but then in an apologetic tone, 'I'm sorry that was a bit mean,' 

I nod accepting the apology, Aborwath has yet to move he just stands there, 'what are telling your new friend?'

'Get the fuck out before I beat your ass' Onyx says.  

Aborwrath shrugs, 'sure he turns and walks away but do expect this to come up at the group meeting, let's see how long your pet lasts.'

As Aborwath left me and Onyx exchanged looks of worry, Kit did not miss this.

'What just happened?' she asked. 

'Nothing good' Onyx answered glumly.

I set Kit down gently and put my scarf on, 'Aborwrath is going to call a group meeting, which means you're going to get to meet everyone.' 

'Yay' Kit said sarcastically, 'but um who is Aborwrath?'

'Aborwath?' I say, 'he's the leader of our group and he makes rules and decisions for the whole group, once every two years an election is held, and someone is elected, and he likes humans a lot.' 

Onyx sighed, 'I knew this would happen.' 

'Knew what would happen' I say, flaring up. 

'This' she said, 'you go out then come back with a human then this happens.'

'What' I said standing up, 'what's going to happen,' I was more afraid of the answer then I would admit

'There going to fucking kill her' Onyx said.

'No they're not' I say angrily, 'I'll stop them.' 

'Oh,' Onyx snorted with derision, 'right forgot you can take on thirty dragons single-handed.' 

'Then we will run.' 

'Then they will hunt you down' Onyx emphasized the last three words, your little pet is going to die tonight either give her up now or they will force you to, humans are getting harder to find now they want her.' 

I was very angry, 'so you're just going to give up, let them take her.' 

Onyx look conflicted suddenly less certain the spark of anger died, 'look I'll be back before sunset ok, I'm sorry I didn't' Onyx reached out a hand, I took a step back. 

'Just go' I said looking downcast, Onyx looked like she wanted to say something but then the turned and walked into the centre of the clearing and took off, her wingbeats slowly faded.  

I lay down in abject misery, that went fucking brilliantly I think to myself, push away onyx that will get you somewhere and get Kit killed yay me, my melancholy thoughts were interrupted by Kit she kicked my leg to get my attention. 

'Hey, I don't want to die I didn't ask to get picked up, I'm not going to get killed by a bunch of overgrown fucking bearded dragons after surviving for six years on my own.' 

'Well what do you suggest' I say, more aggressively than intended. 

Kit seemed to deflate and I felt bad I picked her up and holding her in my palm in front of my muzzle, 'look I'm not going to lie it's not looking good, I had hoped that you would be discovered after a while so I could introduce you to some of my friends, maybe even some of the hatchling's then this would not have been so one-sided as it stands I just don't know' i sigh. 

'We will think of something' Kit says, I smile and put her in my scarf.

my brain was buzzing trying to think of a way out of this, but I just could not see one I went out hunting again this time I took Kit with me we chased a deer and we ate it in an uncomfortable silence I was wondering, what was going to happen to Kit or where Onyx had gone, I didn't know what Kit was thinking but I was worried for her and as the sun began to sink I looked around one last time, with what felt like a lead weight in my stomach I put Kit on my scarf and began to walk towards the meeting place, it was a short walk but I wished I would last forever. But we reached the meeting place all heads turned I felt Kit shiver and shrink back at the sight of all the dragons looking directly at her, I did my part by snarling at anyone who got too close to us and the crowd parted there were about thirty dragons all up and in the centre there she was. 

Onyx she was talking with Aborwath I stopped, 'you traitorous bitch' I yell.

I get a small twinge of satisfaction as Onyx jumps and looks at me guiltily, Kit jumps at my voice and Onyx starts to walk towards me, trepidation evident in her every move I move a hand up to protect Kit as onyx approached I took a step back. 

'What did you do' I growl 'what did you tell him.' 

'It's, it's for the best Onyx almost whispered, her ears were flat and she would not look me in the eye.

Kit was scared very scared she was surrounded by dragons who all looked like they wanted a piece of her the only person left who was willing to protect her was surrounded on all sides, even Onyx had abandoned them she stood there looking ashamed. 

Kit was shuddering she was about to cry, 'Umber' she asked, 'w-what's going to happen to me?' 

I looked around at the dragons I knew everyone there by name but none of them were going to speak out rules were rules and one of Aborwrath's biggest ones was no food stockpiling, if you had extra food you would share it around and like it or not Kit was just food to everyone else.

'I, I don't know Kit' i say, my voice shaking slightly, 'but I will do what I can to protect you.' 

Aborwrath's smile suggested otherwise. 

Kit began to cry, 'Umber' she said, 'I don't want to go' 

My heart broke Kit was so small and yet she felt so close to her she snuggled into my scarf as if that would save her, she was crying because she didn't want to die, I put a hand over her, to protect her. 

'Touching' Aborwrath said, 'this is a scheduled meeting but given circumstances you will I'm sure you will forgive for moving one thing up the list.' 

'What's he saying?' Kit asked. 

I translated for her as Aborwrath spoke. 

'….stockpiling of food is frowned upon' he and most of the dragons looked at me, 'so' Aborwrath continued 'someone will have to eat the scraps.' 

I stopped translating we both knew what that meant, Aborwrath continued anyway. 

'Umber you won't let them, will you? I don't, don't want to die' Kit put a hand to my neck I shook my head slowly Onyx was gone, I was alone with Kit she burst into tears. 

'So?' Aborwath asked, 'what it will be will you eat her, or will we share her around.' 

You basted I say I wanted to so bad just go up there and punch him in his smug face, but I would not even make it two steps. 

'Oh, you think this is me' Aborwrath said, 'it was Onyx's idea.' 

'Umber, Umber what's going on please, please I-I don't understand.' 

I fished her out of my scarf she was crying and confused 'Umber' she said, 'what are they going to do' then she screamed as I opened my jaws I closed my eyes. 

'No Umber places no you promised me you said you would protect me' her protest dissolved tears flowing freely.

I could taste the salt of her tears, then she started to fight, kicking and screaming as she touched my tongue I closed my jaws and tilted my head back it was like trying to swallow a pill I just could not commit I choked and spat her back out.

'If you don't, we will' came Aborwrath's voice.

I looked up Onyx was holding Kit, three dragons grabbed me I screamed as Onyx put the crying screeching Kit into her mouth and swallowed, I watched as if in slow motion as she tilted her head back watched a bulge travel down her throat, I felt numb I dropped to my knees I felt a burning rage as I looked at Onyx.

'I trusted you' I spat, 'you bitch I trusted you' I screamed then I turned and ran into the forest, I lashed out at the trees around me and those that got in my way eventually I stopped breathing heavily, I sat down I let the sadness take me. 

Onyx walked slowly and then she was close enough she rammed her fist into her throat, then she was on all fours she dry retched, it was like something had gripped her body she convulsed her stomach felt like it was on fire, she retched again her throat burned, her entire body convulsed again, then she vomited and collapsed breathing heavy Onyx's throat was burning, she couldn't even see through the tears of pain.

When I heard the sounds of someone retching, I turned I could make out Onyx she was on all fours I clenched my fists then she vomited and looked like she was about to fall over, then I realized I ran over and caught her before she fell, then I heard Kit I reached out into the pool of vomit my hand found her small from she was shuddering cold wet and scared Onyx's hand was on mine.

'it's ok she's safe you can sleep now,' I said to Onyx she nodded I pulled out a vile of liquid from my belt and fed it into her mouth 'sleep now' I said gently. 

Then I tended to Kit, she was covered in vomit the river was close I took her to the river and let her wash herself, helping her buy using my hands to scoop up water like a makeshift shower, then I lit a fire to warm her up, she sat by the fire all snuggled up in my scarf she drifted off soon after. 

When Onyx woke up, she was next to the river but much further upstream her throat still burned form last night she sat up. 

'ki-' then she saw her Kit was asleep next to her she was sleeping on Umber's dark red scarf next to a burned-out fire, Onyx then discovered had been stripped of all her clothes except her underpants.

'sorry about last night Umber' Onyx said, looking around Umber sat there she still looked upset, Onyx stood 'I just figured eating her would be the best way too-'

I jumped up and punched her in the arm, hard 'that was for last night' I said.

'Ow, Umber that-'

Then I wrapped my arms around her, acutely aware what Onyx was basically nude and kissed her.

'And that was for?' she asked.

'Also, last night,' I ran a hand up over Onyx's stomach all that way up to her breasts Onyx returned the favour slipping her hand under my shirt we kissed again.

Kit woke up, I saw her sit up and broke off the kiss suddenly, Onyx slipped her hand out from under my shirt she looked confused for a few seconds then realized as she turned she used her arms and hands to cover herself up, I pointed to where I hung up her clothes got dressed.

'So' Onyx said smiling, 'you didn't just strip drug me so she could watch me sleep with no clothes on.'  

'No' I said, 'I washed them and hung them up to dry after you vomited on them.'

Then I turned to Kit the first thing I said was, 'I'm so, so sorry' then I scooped her up almost crying out of relief, 'I fucking let Onyx eat you, you trusted me a that's how I repaid you' I nuzzled her and held her to my chest in a sought of hug, 'can you ever forgive me?'

'It was better than slowly being torn apart' Kit said, 'I'm sorry we didn't tell you the plan.'  

I looked down at Kit in completely stunned silence for a few seconds, 'you knew the whole time' I looked over at Onyx 'I'm going to kill you both in your sleep why the fuck didn't you tell me?' I was struggling, somewhere in between outrage and relief.

'Remember when you went hunting?'

'Yes,' I say.

'while you were chasing a deer, I snuck up and told Kit the plan my plan.'

'I fucking hate you both, I and if didn't love you both so dam much I would rip your heads off' I had moved mostly just outrage now.

Onyx and Kind laughed at my outrage.

'You're so cute when your angry' Onyx said.

'I second that' Kit said.

'oh, sure I am' I say putting kit back on the ground, I stand looking straight a Onyx.  

'Let's save that for later,' onyx looked pointedly at Kit.

'point made' I say, 'let's get moving I'm hungry and we are still too close to Aborwrath for my liking.'

'Good idea' Onyx said, 'let's walk though we will be much easier to spot flying.'

'Good point' I say picking up Kit and putting her in my scarf, she snuggled in as if nothing had happened my heart swelled, I kissed Onyx lightly on the cheek as we set off through the forest.

By noon everyone was feeling peckish, and as pence, for eating Kit I sent Onyx off to hunt.

'but I don't wanna do it on my own' she said.

I gave her a look that said she was not going to win this one.

She huffed good-naturedly and headed off.

After that we flew west until night, Kit fell asked in my scarf again, I lay her on the ground.

Then I turned to Onyx, 'Shirt. Off. Now.'

'What, now, like.'

'Bitch. Did I stutter' I said striding over to her, I ripped my skirt off as Onyx took her skirt off, 'I've waited all day for this.'

Kit woke up to the sound of moaning, she looked up Onyx and Umber were intertwined Onyx collapsed onto of Umber they both lay there.

I was flat on my back Onyx on top both on us naked, Onyx's head resting on my breasts as I gently stroked her hair.

'Well, that was disgusting' Kit said she 

Umber and Onyx both shrieked.

'Kit what the hell' Onyx said, 'how much of that did you see?'

'Most of it.'

Umber got into a sitting position, 'why didn't you say anything?'

'Didn't want to interrupt, looked like you guys were having a good time.'

'Well that it was' Umber admitted.

'I'm going to go wash my hands' Onyx said, 'you guys chat.'

'I need to go and wash to' I said blushing, 'I will um be right back.'

'You do you' Kit says, as I walk off to go and get cleaned up.

'So, what do we do now?' Onyx askes Kit and Umber after her hand Umber had both come back from washing up which, had taken them a conspicuously long time.

'Well, there was the camp' Kit said, 'the one that's not real, what if we make it real.'

'Alright' I say standing and scooping up Kit, sounds like a plan lets fine us time humans to save. Onyx and I spread our wings and took off my scales glimmered dilly in the light of a full moon with one hand I held Onyx's and with the other, I cradled Kit as again, she nods off.
