Star Wars
Chapter One
The Fated Meeting
It has been one year since the Naboo Crisis. Although the event has caused some death and disturbance, life has continued on at the Jedi Temple on Couriscant with the training of more Jedi. Even though life will be thrown out of balance in the future, for now there is mostly peace.
One padawan has begun his training with one of the knights of the order. And this young one is showing quite the progressive growth. Even though it has only been a year since his training has begun, there is no doubt he will be a great, powerful Jedi. Something his master believes will happen someday.
Then the Jedi Temple picks up on a signal, one that causes some concern coming from the planet Nelvaan, located in the Outer Rim territories. The master and Padawan are assigned to investigate it which is to take three weeks. Unaware that the young one will encounter someone there that will forever change his life…
A ship in space was headed towards an icy blue colored planet. This wasn't like the one that had been used with the ambassadors during the Naboo Crisis. This one was a small ship that was useful for missions like this. Big enough to get a sense of space, but not so big that a number of people had to pilot it. In the cockpit, a Jedi Knight looked through the glass and could see the ship was closing in on the target. "Prepare for landing sequence," he told the droid pilot. "I'll be back."
The male was a human, in his 20's with a rough amount of stubble on his face. The Jedi walked to the back of the ship and opened the door. In the center was another one, much younger, and having the typical Padawan haircut and outfit. The second one was in a meditative pose with his eyes closed, but opened them when his master came in. "I sensed you coming," stated the Padawan with great respect. "What is it Master?"
"We're approaching Nelvaan," the older Jedi responded. The younger one rose up and followed his master to the cockpit. "You're getting better with your meditations Nicholas. That had to be your longest yet."
"Thank you Master Neron," the Padawan stated. "Although it's hard. That only had to be five minutes at the most."
"You will get better as you get older. Remember you've only been studying a year. It took me five before I could go for quite awhile. Not as long as Master Yoda, but to the standards the Knights of the Jedi Order can. And it will help when you finally construct your Lightsaber."
"I won't forget Master. I am excited though to be heading out here. It's my first time."
"I know well my young Padawan. You've grown stronger since that day you were assigned to me. I've done my best so far to teach you everything that my master taught me. I believed you were ready for something like this. That's why I asked the Council to send us."
The two then went silent as they watched the planet get closer. Their thoughts were about the past. For Nicholas there wasn't much but things were there. The earliest relocation of life went quite far back. He remembered it being black like being in total darkness. The next thing the Padawan knew, he was standing in a circle with others his age, holding a training Lightsaber colored light green. Although Nicholas didn't remember Master Yoda being there, he certainly knew when his master was chosen. When asked about the first part the other Jedi explained that sometimes people could remember for a brief moment of being in the womb. That was what Nicholas remembered briefly.
Some information came latter. The little human male was born on the planet of Alderaan five years before the Naboo Chrisis. At a young age he was taken to the Jedi Temple. Right away Nicholas was respectful to the older Jedi and kept asking questions, wanting to know more. The Council and others couldn't help but notice this one. Then at the age of five Nicholas was assigned a master, Marte Neron who had recently reached the rank of Jedi Knight. For the next year, the two would be together. Nicholas would continued to grow and get stronger. Near the end of this time, the two began to go on assignments in the Republic. Now it was time to see what this team could do in the Outer Rim.
Suddenly an explosion rocketed the ship, snapping both back to the present. An asteroid had hit one of the engines. "What is it?!" Nicholas asked, all in a panic. This had never happened to him before.
"We've been hit!" Neron answered. "Brace yourself; we're going to do a crash landing!"
The ship picked up speed as it broke through the atmosphere, showing no signs of stopping. There was only snow and ice since this planet was a frozen one. But the sun was out at least to give off light. The vehicle came down with a mighty crash, throwing the two Jedi off balance. The two humans ended up getting hurt, but not too badly. The ship had landed nearby one of the villages that the native Nelvaanians who lived on this planet operated at. They were a primitive race because they were at a tribal like stage in development. Nicholas groaned and picked himself up from the ground. Neron was knocked out. "Master!" the young Padawan stated and tried to shake the older male awake. The six year old stumbled out of the wreckage of the ship but didn't get far to try to find help. The ground rose up to meet him and Nicholas knew no more.
Five minutes latter a young female Nelvaanian came out because she noticed the smoke. Normally the males would have noticed this since they were assigned the roles of scouts and warriors. But since this was so close to the village, anyone else could've have noticed. She saw the collapsed human. Without a second thought since she had a kind nature, she ran to get others to help. The chieftain of this village who was her parent arranged room for the two Jedi. The little female was given the task to watch Nicholas. But it was Neron who woke up first. Realizing what was going on, and able to understand the Nelvaanians, he was directed towards the place his Padawan was staying at.
Nicholas in the meantime was slowly waking up. He could see he was in some place that had the looks of being tribal. There was a blanket on his body to keep him warm and the guy rose to a sitting postion. "Ugh… where am I?" he asked.
The Jedi then heard the sound of a female voice. One he couldn't understand that said, "Hey, you're awake." The male looked up to see the young female from before, looking on at him with a smile. Their eyes locked with the other. In that moment something passed between them. The young Nelvaanian, even though she had lived among her people and had seen many attractive males couldn't help but think that this young human looked cute. While with Nicholas there was something about this female that was different. Something he couldn't yet put his finger on just yet. Before more could be said Neron came in.
"Seems you're doing alright," stated the older Jedi.
"Master," Nicholas responded.
"I'll be back," said the young female and left.
"Do you have any idea what she just said?" asked the younger male.
"Yes I do."
"How?"
"When you've traveled as I have, you tend to learn some things."
"So what now?"
"For now we'll stay here in this village. The leader here has agreed to it. We'll stay here for three weeks. Luckily we can still contact the Jedi Temple when that time is up."
"That's good," said Nicholas. "But what about me? I can't communicate with the one who just left or the others."
"I'll make a communicator for you. Don't worry about it. And at least you can continue your training while I look into things here. Plus it seems like there are those your age here. So if you need a break from that you can try to interact with them. Seems Huraz-Alaz could be one of them."
"I'm sorry, who Master?"
"She was the Nelvaanian who watched over you while you were out of it," explained Neron.
"I see."
Huraz-Alaz soon returned with the chieftain of her village. After the older male and leader talked things over a plan was arranged for the two Jedi. But neither of them were going to expect what would come next.
