When you type your text into this tool, it converts these letters into tiny, unique, and small letter fonts. Actually, these are different from normal letters; these are Unicode symbols, which is why they can be copied and pasted anywhere without any installation.
Actually, these are not the real fonts because if they were fonts, you could not just copy and paste them on some other websites like Facebook, Instagram. Well, these are different styles. How it can be copied, to understand this, you have to understand the story of Unicode.
Unicode:
Before Unicode, different countries and companies had their own encoding systems, which broke the text or appeared incorrectly when shared between systems. To solve this problem, the Unicode Consortium
Also known as The Unicode Standard, it was formed in 1991, and it created a standard encoding system to convert numbers into letters.
Over time, Unicode included many ancient styles, modern languages, mathematical scripts, and emojis. Some companies refused to use the Unicode system, so Unicode added their weird symbols to combine them on one platform. In this era, Unicode is the backbone of the internet, making communication easy and enabling tools like fancy text converters, super small text generators, and multilingual websites to work properly.
It allows computers, mobiles, and websites from all over the world to display text properly in every language. It not only supports the English language but also works for every language, like Arabic, Urdu, Russian, and Chinese. Also, it supports the symbols and emojis and unique and special texts like Small caps, Superscript, Subscript, and Fancy style.
In Unicode, each character is given a unique code number, which ensures that text will display the same in different devices and platforms. That’s why text generated by small text generators and fancy text converter tools work smoothly on social media like Facebook and various computers and platforms without installing any fonts.
Unicode works like a dictionary of codes. So, when we type something on our mobile, like we type letter ‘A’ or we write ‘ا’ the Arabic letter, the Urdu ‘ب’, and even place😊, and even type 😊 , it converts into a special numbering code because these codes are given to each of them. Our device actually does not store these in the form of letters or shapes themselves, but it stores them in coding or numbering form, so when the other person receives the text on a different device, the system reads the numbers and shows the correct characters.
Unicode, behind the scenes, uses formats like UTF-8, UTF-16, and UTF-32; the most commonly used format is UTF-8 because it takes less space and it loads fast. These formats are used to store these numbers. Unicode just make sure that what anybody types, see exact text by the other person sees the exact text. That’s why it is the backbone of today’s communication and tools.
Unicode also supports different Text Styles without installing any font. Different styles like small text, cursive text, fancy style, superscript, and subscript already contain Unicode numbers inside them as special characters. Very Small text generators simply replace the normal letters with their Unicode-style version. That is why the text generated by tools works on WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and on different websites. So, this is not just font or style…It is just normal Unicode text:)
Unicode does not design fonts; it only assigns numbers to characters. Small text generators don’t change the font; they change the normal letters into Unicode characters. Unicode just gives numbers to the most commonly used characters; that’s why superscript and subscript are incomplete.
Small Text Letters:
The full alphabet for Small caps, Superscript, and Subscript is below
Small Caps: ᴀʙᴄᴅᴇꜰɢʜɪᴊᴋʟᴍɴᴏᴘǫʀꜱᴛᴜᴠᴡxʏᴢ
Superscript: ᵃᵇᶜᵈᵉᶠᵍʰᶦʲᵏˡᵐⁿᵒᵖqʳˢᵗᵘᵛʷˣʸᶻ
Subscript: ₐbcdₑfgₕᵢjₖₗₘₙₒₚqᵣₛₜᵤᵥwₓyz
In subscript, the alphabet is a bit lacking because this is happening due to Unicode symbols; these are not small text fonts.
Social Media Platforms:
Almost all major social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and YouTube support this Unicode system. You can make your post, comments, and bio more attractive with these small text styles. There are some exceptions also where excessive use of these styles is not allowed, like Google search does not display Zalgo and Circle text in page titles, while in Tumblr posts, you will not have any trouble pasting these small fonts.
One thing to consider is that some website owners block some Unicode characters; you cannot paste their small text in the bio or comment. Just keep in mind it is because of the site owners’ rules, not from the tool generator.
However, some characters of Unicode can be misused to create glitchy or strange text, so site owners block those characters, but large websites like Facebook allow these characters because people from every country need special characters to paste in their specific language.
Small Caps:
Small caps look like capital letters, and they are considered separate characters in the Unicode system. These have been used in typography for a long time. For hundreds of years, they have also been used in documents and printed books to make writing more attractive. It just changes the look, not the meaning. Linguistics used these small caps to show a difference in text. Small caps are also used in long sentences in place of Capital letters because capital letters in long sentences do not look attractive and look harsh and uncomfortable to the eyes.
These are famous for Branding and commonly used in
- Instagram BIO
- YouTube Names
- Headings
- Stylish Names
In unicode system some small caps exist but some are not that’s why generator sometimes mixes the style and also some small caps appear large and some appears thinner, do you notice that small caps in this site are the only ones who looks complete in comparison to other styles, just Q, S and X are not perfect but these are close to perfect look. Small caps characters are gathered from different writing styles.
If you want to create small caps in CSS inside an HTML document, you can paste this code.
<span style=”font-variant: small-caps;”>Testing 123</span>
Text generated by using CSS looks cleaner, but some platforms do not allow CSS or HTML; that’s why tools like the above are used to generate small caps.
Mostly, people think that the text generated by this generator is a small caps font, but actually, it converts letters into just small caps Unicode characters, also called Glyphs.
If you are looking for a font support small caps, then the good news is that most fonts support small caps in some ways. Even if a font does not support small caps, browsers and processors automatically convert capital letters into small caps. These automatically generated small caps do not look very good, but they still work. One more thing, these small caps travel more safely across apps and websites than the font; these caps easily copy and paste in comparison to the font who sometimes breaks in other systems.
You can also convert your text into small caps characters using our Small Caps Generator, which allows you to create and copy superscript letters and numbers instantly.
Superscript:
Superscript is used to add meaning in a sentence; it is not used for style like small caps. These are designed to be smaller and raised above the normal line. Superscript used on paper before it appeared on screen. The superscript was added to the Unicode system when people really needed it. It comes from Unicode, not from one font; it appeared differently on different devices. It helps in adding more info without taking up much space.
In science and chemistry, it works together with subscripts like H₂O, x² + y². Its text can be used in WhatsApp, emails, Discord, Instagram, etc. Its text is better in comparison to using small text images. It is good for design, not used for SEO, like in titles, because search engines normalize their text.
Unicode includes only a limited number of superscript characters; these were mainly added for the use of Mathematics and similar technical fields. People who work in these places need formulas, equations, and special text in places where HTML or LaTeX is not supported, like chat apps, emails, or messaging systems.
Initially, Unicode added three subscript numbers ¹ ² ³. Later on, more numbers and some useful symbols like ⁺ ⁻ ⁼ ⁽ ⁾ and ⁿ were added. After that, the alphabet of superscript had also been added, but ‘q’ was missing.
Originally, these superscript characters were created for a specific need, not to complete the whole alphabet, which is why they look complete, but actually, some letters are missing. The letter ‘q’ is not a mistake; actually, it was never added. Many generators use a similar-looking symbol in place of ‘q’; it would be great if Unicode adds this in the future.
If you are using HTML, you do not need to add a generator; in fact, you have to create a tag that displays the proper superscript text.
Example
You have to add this code to your site. However, in places where HTML does not work, like social media and chat apps, people have to use the Unicode character superscript symbol. For now, the symbol ‘ᵠ’ is used for the replacement of ‘q’.
You can also convert your text into raised characters using our Superscript Generator, which allows you to create and copy superscript letters and numbers instantly.
Subscript:
Subscript letters are normally written slightly lower than the normal line. It adds more information without keeping the line messy. Just like superscript, it exists in handwritten form before appearing on the screen. You can use these without installing any fonts.
These also look different on different devices, just like superscript. It does not break when copied to other sites. These are designed for small texts, not for whole paragraphs. Its excessive use on a small screen affects the readability.
It was added to the Unicode system in the same way as a superscript. It is not commonly used in most places and industries, which is why most of the alphabet is still missing. Hopefully, it will be completed in the future.
The subscripts of the alphabet generated by this generator are
ₐbcdₑfgₕᵢjₖₗₘₙₒₚqᵣₛₜᵤᵥwₓyz
As you can see, there are many letters replaced by some small letters. So, if you want to use (B, C, D, F, G, Q, W, and Z) these letters, then it is quite difficult to use them in subscript form.
Reddit:
Reddit uses a special markdown system to convert normal letters into special styled letters. For writing superscript letters, you have to place ^. Anything written after this ^ appeared as superscript.
This writing is normal and ^(this is superscript).
In the past, Reddit allowed superscript on top of the superscript because this text goes higher and smaller again and again. But now Reddit does not allow this.
If your superscript is just one word and there is no space, then you do need to place ^.
2000=20^3
Tiny Text:
Some of the small caps letters are available in superscript in the Unicode system and are called superscript small caps. Yes, both styles at the same time. They are used for decorative purposes.
These are only a few, not the full alphabet. The list of characters available is
ᶦ ᶧ ᶫ ᶰ ʶ ᶸ
Because there is a very short list of letters, it is very difficult for you to write even a single word with these. The maximum you can do is write ‘I love you’ to ᶦᶫᶸ.
