Rating: NC17 / explicit
Word count: 29,000

Disclaimer: We mean no harm and make no profit from this transformative work.
Author’s notes: With gratitude to whimstories for the beta-reading, both kind and thorough. With love to altocello for once again gracing my humble words with your beautiful artwork. I can’t imagine what I ever did to deserve you, hon! And with thanks, as always, to the aftercamlann mods for running yet another year of a terrific challenge!
Artist’s notes: Thank you so much to the mods who made this fest happen; without you, none of this would be possible. I would also like to thank slashweaver for letting me entice them with the idea of writing for this big bang; it was an absolute delight to work with you again, and your beautiful prose worked its magic on my imagination. Many thanks are also due, as always, to my beta, amphigoury; without her thoughtful comments and encouragement these pieces would be so much the poorer. Lastly, I would like to thank the cheering squad, jelazakazone and alby_mangroves, whose enthusiasm is dynamic enough to light an entire city. Please know that without this little village, none of these would exist. Thank you, thank you, thank you! ♥♥
Summary: Arthur died in Merlin’s arms, and he’d thought that was the end of his story – but then he wakes up in agony in Avalon, as the Sidhe remove Mordred’s sword-point from his flesh. Soon Arthur is convalescing, and befriending Niamh, daughter of the Sidhe Queen Orlaith. He meets up with other old friends in Avalon, too, who find contentment in this place, but Arthur can never quite settle. He wants to return to the mortal world and continue his work. Orlaith tells him that’s possible – but first the Sidhe want something in return for healing him.

Title: Of Ghosts and Gooseberries
Author: Harlequin
Universe: Merlin
Characters featured: Arthur, Leon, Merlin
Category, Word count: Short story; 2048 words
Rating: PG13
Summary: Arthur is rather surprised when Leon visits him late one night in order to read him poetry.

Notes: A humble offering for my dear friend Cello on her birthday … with apologies that the story didn’t turn out quite as Leon or I wished! (My sister suggests I write a sequel for you, for your next birthday.)

Set immediately following ep 503 The Death Song of Uther Pendragon, and humbly borrowing Poem #31 by Sappho.

Just in case it’s not clear, the word “gooseberry” in this context is an informal British usage: “a third person in the company of two people, especially lovers, who would prefer to be alone, e.g. ‘they didn’t want me playing gooseberry on their first date’.”

Title: Beltane
Author: Harlequin
Universe: Merlin
Characters featured: Merlin/Gaius
Category, Word count: Short story; 4260 words
Rating: R
Summary: Gaius hasn’t seen Merlin since the aftermath of Camlann, and misses him dreadfully, but the Beltane celebrations bring a number of visitors to Camelot along with the promise of renewed life.
Notes: For riventhorn, in humble gratitude for the beautiful story Ember Day, and also for isisanubis and moonflower999. I love that you all love these two men as much as I do.
With humble apologies to those who know far more about Beltane and all things medieval than I do. I’m afraid I went with the show’s example of wantonly borrowing and adapting only what suited the story.

I am very proud to have been honoured in this year's tonyhead_awards for one of my Uther fics, Possession. (You can find it here on AO3.) All the winners and runners-up - for videos, art and fiction - are listed in this post. I'm absolutely certain that all of those links will be well worth following.

And check out these beautiful banners made by Funforahermit and Caztaliah!!!

Winner - Possession by harlequin (julie)
“'Possession’ by harlequin, is a sexy, slow-burning fever of dark desires first quietly nursed in solitude, then dangerously indulged behind closed doors. But when one man’s humiliation is another man’s satisfaction; who, exactly, is possessing whom?”

Runner-up - Possession by harlequin (julie)
“In 'Possession’, harlequin takes readers on a dark and sometimes frightening journey into the secret, lonely, complicated heart of Camelot’s most notoriously cruel king. In Camelot, Uther Pendragon’s word is law. He takes what he likes, and whom he likes, without apology. But when he finds himself burning with desires that even he can’t easily rationalize, he may find that his heart is neither as hard as he pretends, nor the fiercest in Camelot after all.”

Congratulations to all the other creatives who were also acknowledged! I am very grateful indeed to the tonyhead_awards and everyone involved. What a delightful way to start the day. ♥
