Our vision began with founder and CEO Tom LaJoie’s efforts to improve the lives of his fellow pilots and aviation professionals.
As a United Airlines pilot and former military pilot, Tom knows well that aviation is an amazing industry, but one which traditionally required sacrifices, such as accepting a reduced quality of life or missing family events due to scheduling constraints.
Tom’s revolutionary ideas led to our initial product, eTripTrader, in 2002.
Since then, the company has evolved with a suite of cloud-based software solutions – SkedFlex FCMS, SkedFlex Flight Planning, and SkedFlex MISA. Staying on top of industry developments, we’ve also developed the leading Drone Operations software, SkedFlex Vertical.

Skedflex Unveils New Brand & Website
In June 2025, Skedflex unveiled a refreshed brand identity and a redesigned website to better reflect our evolution and vision for the future of aviation technology. The new look emphasizes clarity, innovation, and user experience—making it easier for visitors to explore our solutions, discover customer success stories, and engage with our growing community. This milestone marks our commitment to staying ahead of industry needs while providing a modern, intuitive digital presence that matches the sophistication of our products.
FAA Pilot Record Database Integration Completed
We successfully completed our integration with the FAA’s Pilot Records Database (PRD), enabling automatic submission of critical pilot data. This includes training history, drug and alcohol testing records, and duty assignments. This advancement streamlines compliance, reduces administrative workload, and ensures timely, accurate reporting in line with FAA regulations.
Flight Planning Ready for Europe
We completed Phase One of our integration with European Air Traffic Control, enabling SkedFlex to retrieve and validate recent cleared routes for flight planning. This major upgrade lays the groundwork for advanced routing features and expands our capabilities in the European market. Phase Two, focused on RAD integration, is now underway for 2025.
Motulus Partnership
In March eTT and Motulus announced a joint collaboration that will deliver a strong integration between eTTs’ Flight and Crew Management System (FCMS) and Motulus’ suite of planning optimization solutions (Motuplan). For both companies, this collaboration will create an enhanced product proposition, and ultimately, significant opportunities to create additional value for customers.
Continued Growth
In September, existing customer Key Lime Air signed for SkedFlex Flight Planning commencing the implementation in October with planned cutover in mid 2023. Additionally in October, Reliable Airlines (formerly Air Dialog) signed a contract for the SkedFlex MISA system to manage their operation.
SkedFlex Vertical Launch
SkedFlex Vertical officially launched in 2022, providing recreational and commercial operators the ability to obtain approval for missions that are operated within close proximity to airports included in the LAANC program.
LAANC Application SkedFlex Vertical Approved by FAA
LAANC is the Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability developed by FAA for collaboration with Industry to facilitate access to the National Airspace System for drone operators. Leveraging existing technology, eTT developed SkedFlex Vertical to meet the requirements of the FAA Performance Rules and enhanced the product by integrating with TruWeather Solutions to provide drone specific forecasting.
SkedFlex Flight Planning Launches
In September of 2021 SkedFlex Flight Planning officially launched with ExpressJet Airlines for their scheduled operations serving Reno, NV.
eTT Aviation Acquires Eagle Cap Software
In December 2020, eTT Aviation purchases all assets of Eagle Cap Software and begins to integrate their flight planning and dispatch management software with SkedFlex to further enhance eTT\'s robust air operations suite.
SkedFlex and MISA Becoming Industry Systems of Choice
In 2020, remarkable growth continues in spite of the Covid-19 pandemic with the addition of NINE airlines on the SkedFlex and MISA platforms. SkedFlex - ExpressJet, Eastern Airlines, Ravn Alaska (operated by FLOAT Shuttle), Mountain Air Cargo, CSA Air, Kalitta Charters II, R1 Airlines, Paradigm Air, and Aquiline Drones. MISA - Mountain Air Cargo, and CSA Air.
eTT Aviation Acquires MISA
eTT Aviation purchases the Management Information System for Aviation (MISA) from IT Aviation Solutions and creates the eTT Aviation Resource Management solution. MISA customers include M7 Aerospace (an Elbit Systems company), Baron Aviation, King Aerospace, Wiggins Airways, Kalitta Air, Aerosim (an L3-Harris company), and West Air.
Jazz Airlines Joins the SkedFlex Family
Jazz Airlines contracts with eTT to create a new Preferential Bidding System (PBS) and Qualification and Training Management System (QTMS) for its large and dynamic Canadian operation.
Four New Airline Customers
A record of four new customers are added in 2018 including Key Lime Air, Air Transport International (ATI) , Everts Air Cargo, and Ravn Connect.
Accolades and Growth
eTripTrader wins Small Business of the Year award, while SkedFlex Crew Management System launches with PenAir.
Introducing Crew Management
SkedFlex is expanded to include crew and flight management tools for ConocoPhillips, Alaska.
SkedFlex becomes United Airlines’ Shift Trading System.
Building on the trip trading capabilities, the birth of SkedFlex marks the beginning of the current Flight and Crew Management system. One of the greatest technical achievements for SkedFlex has been the creation of an extremely fast rules engine capable of managing some of the most complicated rule sets in the world and also creating intuitive visual tools to alert schedulers when crew members are approaching the limits of those rulesets.
Crew Companion is Born
Crew Companion is born in October of 2007 as the second generation of the original eTripTrader application. 18 years later Crew Companion serves over ten thousand United Airlines pilots.
eTripTrader created by former United Pilot.
Tom Lajoie founded eTripTrader, Inc. in 2002, to provide ‘a better quality of life’ for his fellow United Airlines pilots. The product was built by Tom and his oldest son Chris with an effort to convert a long and painful process of trip trading down to a matter of seconds.
